Yeah, kinda why I stopped the original it was just too much added stuff. I've fleshed out the world building more than enough to have stuff to work with now.

So does that mean the Poison & Fear Elementals have already been settled on? I had been considering re-doing the omakes for Venenum and Blackout, since they'd be way easier to figure out given how much earlier it is. Maybe something regarding Drobot?

Turn 1 Results

Confronting Nobles (Spyro): Cyril thinks now would be an excellent time to talk with the nobles and get everything straightened out. The nobles used to run all aspects of dragon life except which was run by the Guardians. Talking with them may help the surviving nobles accept the new government. With the nobles still rebuilding and figuring out what claims they have and which they can take for themselves, now would be an excellent time to strike. Nipping any attempt to turn Spyro into a puppet will need to be a priority.
Chance of Success: 60% (Goes down by 5 every month). Cost: N/A (Every 200 gold will increase success chance by 5%).

Continued in 'Nobility Games' Interlude

Hunting Roster (Cynder)
: Sending out hunting parties every month is well and good, but Cyril has made it clear that a system needs to be established to free up the manpower otherwise going toward setting them up every month.
Cost: 100 gold. Time: 1 month.

- Cynder has taken it upon herself to address the dwindling food situation and has spent the entire month familiarizing herself with able-bodied dragons. Not everyone is happy with having to hunt for the rest, but through a mixture of the general state of things and her uncanny ability to be intimidating without actually trying, she has managed to get enough dragons to partake that it has greatly increased the food situation in Warfang and has generally stabilized things for the moment. The fact that the hunters are allowed to eat their fill as long as they bring back their quota, has gone a long way in making this more palatable.
Reward: Permanent +1 food level. +200 Gold per month.

Clean Drinking Water (Cyril)
: Cyril has made it clear that the most important priority at the moment is to secure a source of clean drinking water. With the aqueducts destroyed, disease and thirst are sure to ravage the populace. Until the aqueducts can be fixed, it will be expensive and time consuming to collect.
Cost: 300 Gold per month. Time: 1 month. Reward: Clean drinking water located, morale drop from lack of water halted.

- Cyril has taken on what might just be the most important duty of all in the current emergency; locating a source of clean drinking water. The old watering holes were of course checked first, though even the one that had originally fed the aqueducts is no longer there. In the end, Cyril ended up having to do a sweep of the area around Warfang to locate enough water sources to keep the population healthy. Two mountain springs in the mountains around Warfang were located after Cyril followed their streams back to their sources. Help from some water dragons that he recruited for this also led him to locating an underground aquifer on the other side of the mountains. This was unfortunately all he could find, though he admits that until a proper survey is done, it is quite likely that he missed something.
Reward: Clean drinking water located, morale drop from lack of water halted. -300 gold per turn from needing to transport water to the city.

A Temporary Shelter (Terrador):
With the majority of Warfang rubble at the moment, everyone agrees that one of the top priorities is to get some temporary shelters erected. Already dragons and moles have cleared some land and earth dragons have shaped stone into crude shelters, but clear leadership and oversight will go a long way in both morale and effectiveness.
Cost: 1000750 Gold. Time: 1 month.

- The damage done to Warfang is far worse than Terrador had feared and he spent the entire month tearing down nearly every existing house and many other buildings. With his leadership, he enlisted nearly every earth dragon in the city and they quickly went to work. In what is quickly becoming known as the 'Residential' District, Terrador and his crew used the massive amount of stone rubble to establish hundreds of basic shelters. Thanks to his sheer power and skill, this ended up being much easier than had been expected and Terrador ended up saving quite a bit of gold as well as teaching the dragons with him a few tips regarding stone manipulation.
Reward: Temporary shelters erected, morale drop from lack of shelter halted. Reduced price and slight increase in skill level for earth dragons.

Save the Books! Part One (Volteer):
With the Dragon Temple destroyed and with it priceless irreplaceable knowledge, Volteer has declared an emergency. He needs all claws on deck to find as many unique books as possible and get people on copying them immediately. Once you have the books, work can start on a place to store them and someone to manage them. Volteer admits that more gold to serve as bribes would make the process easier. Can be taken as a free action at double the price and time.
Chance of Success: 70% (goes down by 5 every 3 months). Cost: 500 gold (every 500 gold afterward, increase success by 10%; can go past 100). Time: 1 month.
24+22(Volteer)+10(Bribes)=56

Volteer took the lead on trying to rescue as much knowledge as possible. Unfortunately, he had grim news: He estimates as many as one in every five books or scrolls was actually salvageable. With the bribe money he had been given, Volteer was able to convince many to part with what they had, though the nobility demanded a far higher price than he was willing to pay. With no truly secure place to put the books at the moment, he had Terrador stabilize a single room of the former library and sealed the books and scrolls inside. Until a true library can be built, that will have to do. Volteer also suggests hiring some scribes to copy what remains so that nothing else is lost.
Reward: One in every five books and scrolls survived or were salvageable with some effort. They are secured in a single locked room of what remains of the city library.

Clean Drinking Water (Cyril): Cyril has made it clear that the most important priority at the moment is to secure a source of clean drinking water. With the aqueducts destroyed, disease and thirst are sure to ravage the populace. Until the aqueducts can be fixed, it will be expensive and time consuming to collect.

We might also want to work on the aqueduct if we have to deal with a big expense like that. A survey might help, but that would be considered a stop-gap until we deal with the root of the problem.

Can we bribe the nobility later to expand the libraries collection?

Agreed, but a Survey might catch a newly formed water SOURCE if it hasnt pushed out to the surface yet, or if its still clearing its path upwards of poisions or something.

Reward: Clean drinking water located, morale drop from lack of water halted. -300 gold per turn from needing to transport water to the city.
So we are effectively making 0 Gold per turn, unless we take the Gone Hunting action. Well, at least we aren't loosing more gold than we are making. I assume it will take fixing the aqueducts to stop losing money on this?

Regardless, everything seems to have been a success this turn. It's a shame we weren't able to save all the books, but I think we managed to salvage a good amount.

Anyway, i think that for next turn, we can focus on finding new advisers. But i would also like to take Noble Matters, since it's another action who will get harder over time if we take too long to do it.

How is the nobility organized?
Organized into several Clans for the most part. There's about a dozen major clans and another dozen or two minor ones. These are families that have hoarded knowledge, specialized into something particular, or hold significant amounts of influence for other reasons such as cornering the market on a set of skills/crafts.

1 in 5 is bad ouch. 80% lost knowledge is bad. Yikes. Probably shoulda put more into bribes. 20% recovered/saved is real dire.

Although, it's also sounding like we got a lot of the knowledge that the nobility weren't hoarding. They're weighted to have had more knowledge to hoard and also more motivation to hoard and also more resources with which to successfully hoard.

Gonna need to put the knowledge of the Guardians down in a library real quick. And we'll be needing to make something like 5 lores from next-to-scratch? with Fire much worse off than the other 3 we still have Guardians for. Oof.

Can uh. Can the Ice dragons make Ice that melts into clean water? Might not be a lot of clean water but it might help them feel useful.

Can uh. Can the Ice dragons make Ice that melts into clean water? Might not be a lot of clean water but it might help them feel useful.
Ice and Water dragons can pull moisture from the air. But it takes energy to do so. In a truly dire situation it would be useful but otherwise you would start having 2/9 of the dragons dropping from energy exhaustion.

Turn 1: Nobility Games New
Cyril had warned him that trying to negotiate with the nobility would not be an easy feat. Going himself was risky, but it would help with his reputation early on which the Ice Guardian had said was going to be incredibly important, since he was still very much untested. Cynder had cautioned him that the benefits of such an approach did not outweigh the downsides, but he had gone ahead with the plan anyways. Now standing in front of the doors to the chamber that had been agreed upon for the meeting… he was starting to doubt his resolve. "Come on Spyro… you beat Malefor and saved the planet! What are a few nobles compared to that?" He whispered to himself, before drawing himself up and pushing the doors open.

"Well, well, look who it is." A fire dragon of House Novis sneered. "King Spyro himself. How wonderful it is that you bothered to grace us with your presence."

"Scaldor Novis." Spyro acknowledged the speaker. "Houses Novis, Aquara, Sonis, Hayle, Granit, Farad, Lavis, Avis, Bayle, Avala, and Fulgur." Spyro continued as he walked up to his spot at the table as regally as he could. Cyril had grilled him as much as he could on who the representatives were going to be and how to be respectful without verging into outright submission before them. "I see the lesser Houses have been left out of these negotiations." He remarked as nonchalantly as he could.

"The lesser Houses will of course be updated on what is decided here, but we felt it best to keep the meeting small so as to not overwhelm you, young king." Aeranas Sonis stated patronizingly. She was amongst one of the most well decorated nobles there, contrasting some of the others who verged on outright ridiculousness under all the jewelry and opulence.

Spyro met her eyes as he replied carefully. "Nonetheless, I do not want them to feel left out of these important negotiations."

Galvan Farad laughed. "Important? I think you are overestimating what you can accomplish here." Some of the others laughed alongside him.

Spyro took a deep breath and was about to retort when Flurris Hayle spoke up. "Peace, peace. Let us see what the young King has to say to us before we decry him."

"Easy for you to say, you got out of the war easy compared to the rest of us and are still riding high from the prestige of Guardian Cyril." Circos Avis scoffed at her.

"Regardless, House Hayle is correct in this matter. We have yet to hear any demands or propositions of the young king." Hydran Aquara stated. The bickering came to a close as eleven of the most important dragons in the city turned their attention to him.

I don't suppose we have the option to just abolish the nobility outright here? They certainly don't possess much military power and literally the only one of their demands I am remotely considering acceding to is giving them a copy of everything we recover. Everything else they want is liable to cripple the rebuilding or cause serious long term problems. A lot of what they have to offer is nice but I don't think any of it is necessary in of itself, maybe we could trade copies of recovered knowledge for help with rebuilding?

I suppose having a noble advisor might not be the end of the world in of itself but I suspect that taking that without going out of our way to placate the other houses is liable to be seen as taking sides in whatever dumb power games they played while the world burned down. There is a reason why I want to abolish them outright and that is because they are to put it politely, useless racists.

Honestly, my personal aproach, is to ask them what they did, PERSONALY, to help the war effort, and then go "NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP YOUR TITLE"

It sounds like Cyril may be a member (possibly former given that the Guardians appear to be politically independent) of the nobility so using that justification would possibly allow a noble house to survive. I think it might be better to drag out their systemic failure, lay the sacking of the Dragon Temple at their feet and their lack of useful support to the Guardians. Why were four fairly elderly dragons, regardless of how experienced and capable, the only ones to do anything at all about an enemy whose stated goal was genocide? Where were the noble houses when Gaul stormed the temple and slaughtered an entire generation before they hatched, where were they when Gaul all but ruled the world, where were they when Warfang was besieged by Malefor's forces and a single moment's bad luck could have killed them all? Why allow the nobility to exist if all they do is demand constant placation of their whims and contribute nothing. The feudal contract between the nobility and subject is that the noble's are meant to fight for their subjects.

Which actually raises a possibility if we are required to deal with a feudal model and nobility and not simply abolish it could we raise up similarly minded war heroes to have at least some members of the nobility who are both competent and sufficiently involved in the world at large to care for things beyond petty games of social standing?

Edit: I suppose the big question is how willing is the general populace to follow us? Do we have the buy in to do something like abolishing the nobility or at least demanding that they carry their own weight for once or are we stuck in a situation where we have to placate a bunch of obnoxious parasites for the time being? We're clearly a well respected hero but how does that translate to political capital for us?

House Volaris (4/10) - A Wind aligned House, they were moderately impacted by the war. They focus on honing their mastery of wind beyond all else and have a knowledge of the element second to none.

House Liquis (4/10) - A Water aligned House, they were moderately impacted by the war. Their focus is in the exploration and mapping of the seas. They have delved far deeper than anyone else.

House Smuldur (4/10) - A Fire aligned House, they were moderately impacted by the war. They focus on honing their mastery of fire beyond all else and have a knowledge of the element second to none.

House Galvas (5/10) - An Electricity aligned House, they were massively impacted by the war. They focus on the preservation of knowledge before all else and keep meticulous copies of every tome and scroll they find. Their knowledge seeking tendencies had a tendency of carrying them straight into danger and would often turn up at besieged settlements to either help or scavenge.

Max 20 cost and could get 25 points... Getting everything is possible, while also dodging most of the real damaging stuff.

Knowledge for Knowledge. They get a copy of what is in the library and we get a copy of their non-secret stuff.

Novis Adviser (I would think there would be a pointed remark that their competence would reflect upon their house, which should mean that they're at least decent, if insufferable.) Hayle getting ownership of the Freezer is probably a long-term negative, but survivable. Unknown when Warfang would be able to get out and do something with it. Those two even out to allowing the other houses getting fair representation which helps strengthen Spyro's standing among the Nobility.

Open support of Dark Aligned Dragons would be difficult, but could be done if exchanging getting a second mate from the nobility and giving Farad "free reign to experiment" rather than a monopoly. (Kinda a shitty situation, but it can be worked to an advantage.)

Those options give them a hold into the court while also keeping the ability for the city to grow in its maximum. Honestly was looking at their demand to make 1:3 Gaurdains nobles and garunteed officer positions in the army like... "But why? Should you not be the most trained in those things?" Like I'd think especially if more pillars were added most of the members would be tied to one house or another.

Like part of the thing with Nobility is that they are the ones who have the time and resources to teach their kids how to go to war. That's their entire point!

So you could give the 1:3 Guardians thing because I'd expect more them to have a better ratio without interference and have two points left over for stuff like monetary support or food. Or swap it for House Hayle owning the Freezer.
