This is my biggest gripe with the plan. While I understand the desire to make biggest changes. It is Also the Golden Age of Elfs and Dwarfs. They will whop our asses if aggitated pressuring us into certain gameplays. Appearing later like say the shatering or War of the beard, would mean more chaos -politically speaking- as well as opportunities and adventures of choise.

May by me being plaing favorits but in the end its just too stable to see as fun...
I think I addressed this before but as you pointed out the war of the beard isn't far off and Malekith is gonna be fighting the elves which brings opportunities not to mention there are many other factions of the world to interact like man kind, skaven, greenskins, and beastmen. If my knowledge of the timeline is right the tribes of men in the Empire and Bretonnia are rather weak at this time so the Overlord could decide to venture around there until the war of the beard starts up

My plan is about an overlord who takes care of governing his kingdom very well, until he gets bored and wants to go on adventures. Half Gilliman and half Leman Russ.

The time we arrive is the furthest away so we can change the canon however we want, and in the mountains, where a lot of things will happen. We'll befriend the dwarves and beat up the orcs, goblins, beastmen, ogres, dragon ogres, Fimir, undead, skaven, etc.

It also has the immortal trait. I think there's a plan that doesn't have it.

That means the plan that doesn't have it can die of old age.
Considering it's Warhammer fantasy very unlikely an outgoing Overlord will have the chance to die of old age. Also you can always add the dwarves to the list of creatures to beat up so the minions can loot their fancy equipment and more importantly their beer. Sure you'll end up in the book of grudges but it's worth it for the beer

Optionally you wipe out the chaos dwarves which would also prevent the creation of hobgoblins and black orks. Keeping in mind that dwarves at this time haven't invented gunpowder yet (something that at least Gnarl would know how to make considering the dwarves back home had it)

It could change a lot of the timeline and while I don't want people to be too meta about the WHF timeline and characters there are gonna be consequences to preventing particular factions from forming or characters being born etc. Yeah you could prevent Malekith causing the civil war but then the elves and the dwarves are going to become even more powerful which may not work well for the Overlord who very much has the appearance of a warrior of chaos leading bands of goblins.

Short version I'm not saying no to anything but you do need to think about the lasting consequences of actions. Also wiping out the chaos dwarves means the minions can't go around wearing their fancy tall hats

I propose making a list of what a good overlord should have.

Checklist

1. Have style and a good presentation. When people see us, they have to feel:
a- so scared that they shit themselves and pray not to die by our hand and be killed by one of our henchmen.
b- they prostrate themselves on the ground because our dark personality makes them want to serve us.
c- they want with all their might to be like us, even though deep down they know they'll never be as cool as us.

2 every good evil lord has a base where he operates for the conquest of the world, be it a spike-themed tower to impale the minions that interrupt your mood when you sing, or a base deep in a volcano to admire the hot lava melting the damned heroes, maybe you feel more aristocratic and want a cursed castle like a good son of darkness where you can send your army of minions to conquer small villages, every good overlord has a cool base.

3 that dark lord does not have an army of expendable minions, I mean good soldiers of darkness that have all kinds of benefits so that they do their great work of making civilizations prosper by killing the most stupid and weak living beings making the strongest survive and make their nations prosper, I feel sad for the great sacrifices of our minions for dying to make the world a better place, poor things dying in 1000 different ways - referring to 1000 ways to die a series

4 and 5 should be a cool tower and well equipped army of minions respectively

Yeah I've been doing that to make it easier on me and it fits better. If I could redo this quest I'd have done it in sections but I'm new here and this was a good learning exercise
All consolidated. Plan Overlord Overdoctor now contains Overlord, Tower and Setting plans all in one vote.
[] Plan Tower Wreathed In Lightning

Edit: Oops
That means you can, if you want to progress thataway, you may vote Overdoctor. @Gabriel_TFA you might want to redo your vote, since tally catches it as a different plan with the same name

If my math is right and I hope it is the two leading plans are tied now. Gonna be interesting to see which one wins

If things stay tied tomorrow I'm going to decide the results with a dice roll so if you don't want to leave things to luck get those votes in now

I like the Noxus style, where it's a meritocracy where everyone can live there as long as they serve the state, and the best scientists, soldiers, mages, etc. are the ones who rule. Also, the Noxus style would be a great aesthetic fit for us.

huh. Well, that is unexpected. Welcomed on the other hand. Wonder if we manage to research some ways of extending lifespan.
A researche base Overlord is not something we see often so I'm all in on the weirdness.

Yeah the Noxus style looks great exactly what I picture for a typical Overlord. Keep in mind if you bring in everyone in a setting like Warhammer fantasy you risk chaos cults infiltrating along with spies. Also this is really fanfiction CYOA I wouldn't call it plagiarism and I have no intentions of bringing other settings into this crossover cause that's just going to confuse things even more. Warhammer fantasy has plenty of nations to conquer on it's own and I've been reading up more on the setting so I can familiarize myself with all the details that aren't shared in games like Total War Warhammer and Vermintide

The tie has officially been broken but I will keep voting open until tomorrow around noon CST in case anyone hasn't gotten a chance to vote yet or people want to try and sway the masses. If you want to change your vote please either reply to me or post that you wish to and what you'd like to change it to so I can update the post listing votes so far

First vote ends New
Alright I'm going to close the poll thanks to everyone who participated. I'll probably post the next part in a few days as I write up an intro and come up with some starting questions for people after giving a breakdown of the Tower's starting condition. I also need to do some reading up on the area the tower is starting in and the creatures and factions the Overlord is most likely to encounter. I also gotta figure out what kind of system I'm going to run since this is my first time. If anyone has any suggestions on that please let me know
Scheduled vote count started by Orkyius on Mar 23, 2025 at 3:39 PM, finished with 32 posts and 5 votes.

Minor update it will probably be a week at most as I need to wait on a couple things to be resolved. I hope people don't lose patience in the meantime feel free to speculate or figure out what you might want to try and work towards first

The story begins New
The last moments you remember were channeling power into the Tower Heart as your armor began smoking before passing out as you steered your dark tower towards the rift in reality you had been pulled into. Your newest moment was awakening amid piles of rubble hearing minions scuttling about you exerting themselves as they moved pieces of rubble from your person. "Rub some acid into his eyes that will freshen him up" you hear from a familiar voice. This is enough to get you to sit up as you see a handful of minions gathered around you. An elderly brown minion you know as Gnarl steps forward, a staff on their back with a glowing light crystal illuminating the area around them. "It's so relieving to see you're still alive, master. I was worried we were going to have to find a new Overlord after that terrible disaster." "This just proves you shouldn't trust ancient tomes written by insane cultists." The elderly minion looks at the remnants of your armor. "Oh dear your armor is ruined master and after all that hard work to steal that smelter from the alliance's forge works.
- Well this certainly is not the worst way to wake up. Still, there is work to do just to figure out what needs doing. But first, gotta change into something more menacing.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moments later you were bedecked in your back up suit of steel armor which had survived the trip sitting on the remnants of your throne, more a flat slab of stone, in the middle of your throne room as minions gathered around as Gnarl began briefing you on the state of the tower. "Well I have good news and worse news sire. The good news is all the pesky heroes who invaded the tower seem to have died while we were pulled through that nightmarish realm. The bad news is the tower rooms were thoroughly damaged during that same trip as you can see around you" the minion gestures to the chunks of rubble and other battle damage around the room. "Some rooms are entirely gone while others were merely damaged in the chaos, sire. It also appears that the green and blue minions wandered off shortly after our arrival. We're also missing all of the powerful spell relics you had worked so hard to collect. Some of them may have been destroyed by those pesky heroes when they invaded the tower, the others may be scattered around the nearby area, my lord. Speaking of your evilness, we've appeared in a wonderfully dark and evil forest. Oh it makes my heart soar and there doesn't appear to be any signs of elves for miles." The elder minion clutches their chest presumably where their heart might be while saying this. "Back to the state of the tower my lord most of the rooms are wrecked, limiting the benefits they can provide us though the forge, spawning pits, and your laboratory are all in fine condition. The treasury also seems to be woefully empty whether those dreadful alliance heroes plundered it or some weird gold destroying creature got in while we were in that blasted realm I'm not sure. We'll need to get our claws on some construction equipment before we can begin restoring them but at least we have plenty of wood around. The tower also appeared in the middle of some type of camp sire. I wasn't able to identify what creatures exactly they were as their remains were rendered quite messy from our arrival but looking at their attempts at a campsite they're quite primitive and brutish sorts I'd estimate. We also managed to find you a prisoner lord, a dwarf they were found in the remains of the camp. I considered having them killed to generate life force for you master but they didn't have much life left in them they also didn't seem to be a part of the alliance. In fact they bear little resemblance to any race of dwarves I know of. They might be useful to tell us where exactly we are. More concerning my lord, our arrival was not exactly subtle. I fear we may have to ready for ... 'contenders', in these new lands."
Gnarl turns to the other minions gathered around you. "As for your minions I'm afraid you had most of them outside of the tower during that sneaky attack by the alliance or off protecting your settlements of peons or fighting the forces of the alliance on the front lines. Many were also slain during the attack on the tower and your blues were too preoccupied to revive them while we were traversing that other realm." You can see ten brown minions and ten red ones for a total of twenty most with just their loincloths though a few are wearing beaten helmets and wielding battered swords likely taken from the heroes in the most recent attack. "Finally we have the worst news of all sire." Gnarl gestures with a claw up to a crystalline ball which would normally be shedding light in this chamber. "The tower heart appears to have expended all of its magical energy to protect us when we were trapped inside that other realm. You should prioritize finding a way to restore it once we figure out exactly where we are."
- Well you won't get anything done by sitting around on your throne all day. It's time to mobilize the minions, but the question is "What will you do first?" (potential action rewards are listed in parenthesis. You may select up to four actions)

[] Focus on raising defenses: Set some minions to gather wood from the nearby area and construct defenses. You don't know what's around these parts but you can bet it won't be friendly. (simple defenses)

[]Visiting hours: Visit the dwarf your minions found they may have useful information on the surrounding lands. (information)

[]Culture Crosser: ask your new prisoner about their culture, you may learn something useful about them that can further your own technological breakthroughs. (information on dwarven culture)

[]Optimist: That camp around the tower is certain to have something useful in it. Perhaps it's worth having the minions scour the place? (equipment, ???)

[] Focus on restoring the tower: Even without a crane there's plenty of loose rubble and wreckage your minions can dispose of, they might even find something useful while doing it. (equipment, treasure)

[]Get Overlording: Set out with what minions you have and start exploring the area, murder any creature who gets in your way or just looks at you funny and try to find your missing minions or other resources. (equipment, life force, treasure, ???)

[]Resource gathering: There's plenty of wood around, set some crews of minions to gather it with your supervision. You can always use more firewood. (raw lumber)

[] Write in: Keep it reasonable and realistic (dependent on action)

Overlord's weapon. Before you can do anything you need to choose what instrument of destruction you would like to carry out with you into the world should you choose to personally end the existence of anyone who gets on your bad side. All weapons at this time are made of steel you can swap them out whenever you return to the tower better options may be available later.

[] Ax
[] Sword
[] Mace
