Adventure 1: Samurai Part 2
[X]The Computer: You were going to look through the computer... and then... you were going to tear it apart. Piece by piece for things you needed.
--------------------------------------------------------------
You saw the computer and knew immediately that it was going be something… interesting. You knew because it was practically brand new. Untouched and unworn by time and circumstances. Yet it lay here on the trash can, waiting to be used.
Or torn apart in your hands. But than you saw the laptop move, and than a phone buzzed. The phone that was under neath it.
And curiosity got the best of you, and you answered. "Something tells me that… I'm not the one you expected?"
The laptop than used a message. From a runner by the name of White_Rabbit
White_Rabbit: [Do not hang up.]
White_Rabbit: [I need your help.]
"And what reason do I have to help you?" You replied as you read the text. "What if your asking me for help gets me killed?"
White_Rabbit: [I have ways to assist a Techie like you… Senji Masamune. I can make sure you get a steady supply of components for your workshop, without ever having to worry about anything else.]
There was a pause. Ever since Ara- Father decided to make your life difficult, finding a steady stream of components was going to be difficult without any market connections. "I'm listening."
White_Rabbit: [Follow the signs, you will be safer in a place where you aren't out in the open.]
Than you saw a small neon light flash, and you realized that he was guiding you.
"Why are you doing this?" You asked. "Why can't you do what you wish with your skills?"
White_Rabbit: [Need a physical body at the location…. Mine is rather… difficult to use, given my circumstances. Plus am needed to guide you. Protect you. Help you.]
Protect you? That was not good. You were walking into something with only a .44 and the help of a netrunner.
It was going to be difficult. "Alright, where am I going?"
White_Rabbit: [janitor closet, where the rest of equipment is. I stashed it just in case of this eventuality. Hoped that who would find me was either a merc or an idiot… But It seems I got much better than either.]
"Something tells me my skill set might make this a mutually beneficial arrangement," you muttered, eyes flicking around as you approached the closet—the one White_Rabbit had just instructed you to enter.
The response came instantly.
White_Rabbit: [Enter it. Quickly. Security is coming.]
Your stomach tightened.
You turned, scanning the corridor behind you. No obvious threats—yet. But the way your gut churned told you that wouldn't last.
So you did as you were told.
Stepping inside, you pulled the door shut behind you.
Two things caught your eye immediately.
First: A full Arasaka security uniform. Not just the standard gear—this was high-end. Bulletproof vest, trauma plating, reinforced boots. Next to it, a modified MP5K, its internal mechanisms clearly tweaked for a higher rate of fire and expanded capacity. The magazines—several dozen of them—were custom-made, likely subsonic rounds for close-quarters combat.
Second: A janitor's uniform.
Simple coveralls. A bundle of ID badges.
At first glance, it was nothing special—but then you noticed the fine-threaded biometric weaves running along the fabric. Meaning…
These ID badges weren't just access keys. They were skeleton keys. The kind that would let you walk past checkpoints, override scanners, and—if properly synced—blend into the system like a ghost.
And then there was the whiteboard.
A single line of text scrawled across it in hurried, uneven strokes.
GIG: Acquire the shard from an Arasaka board member.
Target is in the concert venue with his daughter. Shard contains information about—
THe Whiteboard was erased. You frowned. "What exactly am I stealing?"
The reply was swift.
White_Rabbit: [Irrelevant. The Shard is all that matters, the contents are irrelevant to you.]
Men like us.
A bitter chuckle almost escaped you.
"You do know I'm an Arasaka student, right?" You leaned against the closet wall, crossing your arms. "What makes you think I won't just walk away from this?"
A longer pause this time. Then—
White_Rabbit: [Because you don't like not being in control of your own actions.]
You stared at the screen.
Something about the words hit deeper than they should have.
A silence stretched between you and the unseen runner.
Then, one final message.
White_Rabbit: [Am I wrong?]
Your fingers tightened around the phone.
No.
He wasn't.
What do you choose?
[]Arasaka Guard Outfit – You think you can pull off the stone-cold, badass look. Maybe. But there's one problem—you're a bit short for an Arasaka grunt. Still, in Night City, confidence and posture can make up for a lot. And if all else fails? You've got an MP5K with custom mags and enough firepower to blast your way out if things go south.
[]Janitor Outfit – This is going to be embarrassing in so many ways. You'll be blending in at the absolute lowest rung of corporate pecking order. No one respects a janitor. No one even looks at a janitor. But that's the advantage, isn't it? The biometric badges could be an all-access pass, or they could be completely useless. You won't know until you're inside.
