Au contrair my old ally, for the souls of the dead provide two great boons to any Museum -- ambiance and a contemporary account. This has fuck all to do with running a museum, unless I suppose we make an exhibit out of the mastaba.

"Ah yes, that sword was a magnificent thing. I slew ten men with it, and indeed it cut me down just as well."
On a related note, it may be possible to provide temporary storage services for the local dead, such that their gods can come by once a season or so to pick up those who passed on distant shores. While we store their spirits they can pay for their lodgings as tour guides!
We live on the Vampire Coast, we work for Luthor Harkon, known vampirate.[X] [ACQUIRE] The Dread Abyssal
I think this is the best for emphasizing Lutr's personal power and the mythos of Awakening.

I think this is my preferred option, even though Prestige appeals the most. I don't want Grief; not only is it a little gauche, I think presenting ourselves as "no, we're all about preservation, not necromancy" is more interesting (and maybe safer). I don't think the princess would care, but being able to say "I'm not a product of necromancy" (and not being in the middle of necromancy adjacent activity) is probably useful if anyone else comes knocking.
Edit: honestly, for all that underwater gunpowder is cool and impressive, I'm not sure why you would want it from a military perspective. Bullets work extremely poorly when in water; they slow down so quickly that the effective range is basically point-blank.
Side note, @Boney would it be possible to import salt water crocodiles or similar to populate the water around our island? I have this vision of basically making Petsobek by doing the thing that was done IRL at Crocodilopolis (this was an IRL place, look it up) where they adorned crocodiles with gold and worshipped them as offspring of the Sobek.
I want to do the thing that Age of Mythology did and put magical laser mirrors on their heads that we can use to laser our enemies.
Mm, yeah after giving the point some time to settle that's probably fair. Still not changing my vote since the other half of the situation for me is that I'm just fundamentally less invested in making this specific person into a necromancer (and even less invested in the even more specific project of reuniting her with some dude we've never met) than I am in getting cool insights/leverage into High Elf politics and suchwhat. The problem isn't with teaching her necromancy at a later date. It'd be harder and not guaranteed, but we could absolutely do it, maybe even without reviving her husband by giving her the tools to not lose anyone like that again.
But she isn't going to take the initiative for that. This is the most receptive she'll ever be to the idea. The wound will scab, she'll have time to mourn and move on with her life. It'll become a scar instead of a hole in her chest.
She already knows about necromancy, remember? She deals with the Vampire Coast. Being passively aware that we're a necromancer/death mage won't tempt her unless we let her know we're special, that we can do more than just raise his corpse, but that we can bring back his soul as well.
Edit: Or, well, safeguard his soul and teach her to do it. Technically.
