Cleaning Up After The Ancients (Stargate SI)

when did the wraith who fucked up the aurora by infiltrating the virtual world show up? and It was called the Aurora? Kind of basic
It would have taken a while. After all, it was after the two month round trip for Daedalus to Earth and Back.
Plus Wraith hyperdrives are slow by Stargate standards, though they seem to have gotten some kind of upgrade later in the series, though never actually mentioned. But at this point, they're still in the 50 light years in 8 hours with a 16 hour cooldown/regeneration cycle speed bracket.
Here, it's only been a couple of days since the ZPM went in on Atlantis, triggering the activation of the general distress beacon.

Like how many of the archeologists on The Program must have a club started by Daniel about all the things they can't take to the general public. On the one hand, Daniel isn't stuck in The UFO community just earning a living by being on something like Ancient Aliens. On the other hand he and every archeologist in The Stargate Program must be so pissed off about not being able to rewrite the history books. Then probably finding a good bar and then gettinng pissed in a different way.
Eh, I figure a lot of them will have written stuff for the post-Disclosure world. Plus stuff for various theoretical intentional Disclosure plans.

was a subject that she knew had gone through a good deal of debate, with the decision being tipped toward the current policy of acceptance after several events had caused "secret" relationships between team members to openly backfire to the point of creating serious risk for the planet.

...damnit O'Neill and Carter, what did you D- oh right, that answers itself huh? :D

AKA Scottish therapy.
I'd like to point out English has over 3,000 words for being drunk, so going down the pub and drowning your sorrows be getting shitfaced isn't just the realm of the Scots. I mean, in British English, you can take a random verb and use it as a term for being drunk, like, "He's gotten Spannered," or, "She's gotten Antlered," and it's still intelligable.

As Grodin would probably back me up on this and Daniel as a linguist would probably enjoy studying said quirk. And I sat this as a brit who is teetotal.

you shouldn't be using the Ancients as a measuring stick for how you should feel about this, because they aren't us.
Have... tests been done to find out whether Grodin is now an Ancient?

Seems as though... that might be wise?

EDIT:

If positive, likely doesn't meet the minimum educational requirements to vote? (Or, stand for office.)

If he did get turned into a female Lantean ... that might be part of why he didn't revert back to human male.
On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time sometime designed to be safe to use for a Lantean would turn out to have unhappy side effects when used on a human.

Though, since that happened before the election, he probably isn't one. He wouldn't have met any educational, training, or experience requirements to stand for office, but presumably would have qualified to vote.

"Ryoko", if we don't mind giving her ideas about what to do with her life?

I have a deep desire to know does the lantean computer have a evolution simulator to pre test gene engineering to minimize error.
And what if its Ui is like a videogame and some and some soldier unknowingly make some strange creatures

You just want Pokemon growing in some bio-tank, somewhere, don't you? :)

It's probably locked to council member authorization, if such exists.

Plot twist: the Dakara device wasn't to repopulate the Milky Way after the plague, it was to erase all the dickmon planets... (Spore mention reminded me, sorry.)

I wonder what Evens take on Orlin is. Because I've been rewatching SG-1 (your fault) and he's very creepy.

It does depend on what generation of Ancient Orlin is from. If Orlin is an Ancient who evacuated from Pegasus to The Milky Way, then Evan could very well know him personally. While if Orlin ascended due to The Plague during the time Altantis left The Milky Way to Pegasus then he'll only know about him due to Stargate SG-1 Memories and anything the locals of The Milky Way mention about said Ancient.

Orlin's initial appearance is absolutely skeevy. Especially his interactions with Carter.
On the other hand, he did Descend to help work on a solution to the Ori plague(s). Though ... for some reason he Descended as a child instead of an biological Ancient adult.

Honestly, I suspect Orlin might not have been an actual Ancient prior to his Ascension.

Proof positive that wisdom isn't necessarily a prerequisite to Ascend.

The original actor was unavailable so they went with a child and then explained it away as him doing it that was because of the greater flexibility in a child's brain.

Which makes no sense in-universe, in light of Merlin/Moros having Descended as an adult Alteran/Lantean with the full suite of near-Ascended powers and all his knowledge.
And Adria.
And near-Ascended and Lanteans/Alterans in general.

I prefer to think Orlin's just an idiot ... and quite possibly not someone who recieved the standard education for Lanteans/ Alterans. And might not have been an Ancient in life.

Merlin got away with a lot because he was basically doing things with the Upstairs being generally aware but was staying in the lines as it were. Some level of additional Quasi/Half-Ascension was likely allowed for a while.

Adria was protected via the boost of the Ori who played by different rules than the Ancients.

Orlin was a single Dude who kept skirting the rules and the like so he wasn't getting any favors from Upstairs and likely needed to basically put the whole system together himself while the Ori were also staring to get nosy about what was going on. If he kept a link to the Ascended plane the Ori probably would have been able to notice something was going on themselves, and so Orlin used a child's body to let the burn-rate of neurons be low enough for him to at least get things started using a purely un-ascended biology.

Better options were, in universe, likely available but Orlin probably wasn't thrilled at the idea of taking nine to twelve months plus a few years of saving to manually create a quasi-ascended child from scratch.

Merlin/Moros got put on ice because The Others, or a faction thereof, sent Ganos Lal to stop him, and she presumably had to Descend to do what she did. Both presumably would have Descended as Near-Ascended Lanteans with the full suite of powers.
Ganos started under orders, but didn't strictly follow them Merlin/Moros was acting entirely on his own, right up until the Others noticed he started creating the Sangraal anti-Ascended being weapon, then they sent Ganos after him.

Adria got created by the Ori, but once created, her Near-Ascended Orici physiology was on its own, with no further involvement by the Ori.

Daniel kept knowledge from while he was Ascended after being forcibly Descended into his human self by Oma, though she probably did that on purpose.

Orlin could, presumably have Descended to his just-prior to Ascension self, whatever it was.
Plus, he was Descending for a specific purpose - fighting the Ori plague. That's not exactly something particularly objectionable, even by the standards of the Ascended Others. Hell, Orlin wasn't even forcibly Descended in punishment for giving that planet weapons technology. In comparison, a solution to the Ori plague is nothing.
Plus, given that he was using SGC labs and samples acquired by the SGC, he arguably wouldn't have needed to Descend at all, as long as he didn't use his Ascended powers to create a solution to the Ori Plague.

No, it's more consistent to say Orlin's a dumbass, rather than to say that it was beyond his power to intentionally Descend into a Near-Ascended physical form.
