Ophelia Snaps her fingers and let's out a Chant as she summons her knight and send him out to assist Mash and Charlemagne, and-
Mash: "Yah!"
Charlemagne: "Ha!"
That...was the Swiftest jumping of someone you've ever seen, with Charlemagne and Ophelia's Knight backing up the Cloaked Shadow servant against the Wall that is Mash's Shield the two sliced and diced the Shadow Servant. Was he a Class that found itself lacking in group fights or was that simply blind luck?
Logic: Or perhaps the combat momentum we build up swung in our favor? I'll need to observe more battles to give us a conclusion
Regardless, you see the telltale Purple Smoke of the defeated Shadow Servant Waft.
Mash: "Shadow Servants defeat Confirmed. permission to move on?"
Looking over you see Scathatch and Archer walking towards the rest of the group. You're about to give the okay when-
Empathy(Medium: Success): Why don't you let Olga make the call here. I'm sure she'll appreciate it.
Ritsuka: "Well the way forward certainly seems cleared. What do you think Ms. Director? Ready to press onward?"
Director: "Well if that's how it is, then I suppose we'll just have to deal with the cards dealt."
With that said you push on forward, with something occurring to you.
Ritsuka: "hey uh....does anyone know what could've possibly caused THIS much destruction? I mean I know this is a Singularity but still...THIS seems like...a lot."
Ophelia: "Well...I don't know much of the details, but I think...seeing how everything here is uh...in ashes, it could've been a Holy Grail War."
Encyclopedia (Medium: Success): That's the Cup that held Jesus's spilled blood after he was impaled by the Lance of Longinus's by the way.
Ritsuka: Oh yeah, that was morbid. Why did they do that anyways?
Inland Empire (medium: Success): I mean they had someone who claimed to be the Son of the One True God, clearly they were tempted by the powers, the Miracles, he could do and would want to see if they could use his blood to do the same. and in a way they were correct, as it bless the grail with plenty abilities.
Artifice: Assuming of course this is THE Holy Grail here.
Encyclopedia (Medium: Success): If memory serves us right, At least one of the Knights of the Round found it.
Encyclopedia (Hard: Success): Galahad. I believe.
Ritsuka: "So is that like...a war for the actual Holy Grail? I know it sounds stupid but I wouldn't know if they found it wherever it was hidden by the Knights of the Round Table."
Director: "No it's not THE Holy Grail, as far as I know Nobody in the Mage Association has it, and I doubt the Church would ever let us use it if They had it. It's just a Finely crafted Golden Goblet. The Real Prize is in the Wish Granting Power it holds. So long as you have a Wish, and a method to make that Wish work, the grail can grant it. It's how My Father got the funds to even start to build up Chaldea after all."
Empathy: It doesn't take a genius to tell that she holds pride in inheriting this from the Old Director
Authority (Easy: Success): And that means all the more pressure to not screw it up.
Artifice: Noted. Wish Granting Mechanism, NOT the cup that held God-Blood.
Reaction Speed (Medium: Success): Wait what was that about the Church?
Ritsuka: "Hold on, the Church knows about..well...The whole Occult side of things as well?"
Olga snorts in Derision
Director: "Unfortunately yes. They seem to be a bunch of people who think they should decide Which Mysteries should remain, Which should go, and which should be revealed to the Public."
Ritsuka: "Released to the Public?"
Ophelia: "They're called Baptism Rites, they uh, guide a Spiritual Body away from it's physical form and tries to banish them back to where they were before then. It's incredibly effective against Spirits. Well most of them, Heroic Spirits and those ranked higher than them would need something stronger to dispel their forms."
Ritsuka: "Huh. That could be Handy."
Director: "Hardly. For our purposes they would be Useless outside of a few niche situations. Clearing whatever dredges of History that are attracted to the Servants we summon most likely."
Ritsuka: "Is...is that known to happen?"
Ophelia: "It's a Risk that's been noted to happen when Servants are Summoned for long periods of time and in areas where they have gathered high amounts of Fame."
Director: "Ideally, Servants shouldn't be spending too much time in resolved singularities so it shouldn't be a problem. With or without the fame bonus."
The Fame bonus, that one they DID mention in the Pamphlet.
Ritsuka: "Alright then, but still I think it would be a good thing to have on hand. Just in case."
Encyclopedia: Always a good time to expand upon what we know.
Internal Circuitry: Just be sure to not strain yourself boss, we've only got so Much mana we can safely channel at once. Two, well three if we count Mash herself taking from our own private reserve, is the most we can safely handle. For the moment anyways.
Director: "I'll see about getting that looked into once we take stock of any recoverable masters. Happy?"
You feel placated by that, if only a little. It was around this time Dr. Roman popped back up.
Dr. Roman: "Alright! I think everything is in working order on my end. Anything new to report here?"
Mash: "Reporting in, we took out 3 Shadow Servants, and have discussed what could possibly cause all of this. Is everything well enough to detect any more?"
Dr. Roman: "Three Shadow Servants?! already? that's really Impressive. Good job all of you."
Scathatch: "They were pushovers."
Roman: "As for our equipment...Uh..While we can't pinpoint the cause of all of this, I can tell there are 4 Signatures of Servants being around, 2 Stationary. one patrolling around a place and one wandering the area."
Director: " The wandering signature, is it Hostile?"
Roman: "I don't....Think so. I can't really get a good read on them from what readings Sheba has been giving me. But it IS moving. So that's something we should be on the look out for."
Ritsuka: "We should probably see if they're willing to talk. If we meet them."
Continuing to walk for a while until you all spot a massive crater in the ground, still red hot from whatever was used to create it
Ritsuka: "Jesus Christ...what happened here?"
Scathatch: "It must've been a Servant using a noble phantasm."
Charlemagne: "That sounds about right, Otherwise we would see similar craters if smaller in scale. Unless of course these craters do exist and we've just been lucky enough to avoid them all this time."
Director: "Romani! do you have eyes on the layout of the city?"
Roman: "Already checking...and no, there are no other craters here.."
Army of Shadows: So that's what a Servant can do with their Noble Phantasms. I wonder what ours can do.
As you all look over the giant as crater, and despair about what possibly could've done this..
Empathy (Hard: Success): You notice that Mash is taking this the worst out of everyone else here. For Charlemagne and Archer it's just a reminder of what they could do when they use their own Noble Phantasms, for Olga, Ophelia, and Scatatch it's a grim reminder of the raw destructive power some Servants hold.
You approach Mash, with concern on your face.
Mash: "Senpai? why are you looking at me like that."
Ritsuka: "Well I've noticed your concern at the Big crater...and well...While i can't say that we can handle whoever made this, at least not without meeting whoever did this, I do think that at the very least...we should be able to find our way around it. ....That is what people do with Craters after all now that I think about it."
Mash: "Do you really think we can do that? After if THIS is what a Servant is capable of doing, I'm not sure if I can do this especially since I..."
Conceptualization: Idea! we should try to make a joke about the Crater maker and how we don't necessarily have to fight them.
Rhetoric (medium: Success): That's more of a closing statement.
Empathy (Medium: Success): She isn't even finished yet. Just wait. or gently urge her forward. The Noble Phantasm is only what's half bothering her.
Ritsuka: "Go ahead, whatever it is, I'll listen."
Mash would give you a nod as she continues.
Mash: "I...Haven't been able to call upon my Noble Phantasm. Or rather, I know it's there but any attempts to instinctively know about it or figure out how to actively use it. Like something dangling in front of me, just out of reach."
Ritsuka: "Oh. Well...maybe that's because you're a Demi-Servant, and not a full Servant. You'll struggle to bring forth all of your power at once? This could be normal for all we know."
Mash: "Normal or Not, It still feels like I'll do nothing but drag this team down."
Now that pissed you off, it always does when someone downplays what they do in a negative light.
Ritsuka: "Alright then, remind me again who held off a Servant from reaching us while the others were fighting?"
Mash: "W-well that would be me Senpai?"
Ritsuka: "And did that Servant even get NEAR us while you were on the Defense?"
Mash: "No...What's your point?"
Ritsuka: "My point is that, you aren't dragging us down! in fact seeing as you're one of the first Servant, or Servant Level powers we have, I dare say that you are keeping us up afloat."
She blushes at that, and you feel proud of that.
Empathy (Medium: Success): You did help her out a Bit.
Rhetoric: Alright Now hit her with the Walk around bit.
Ritsuka: "besides, who said that we ever had to confront the Crater Maker? We could always do to them what we do to the Actual Craters. Just walk around her. What's she going to do? Open it up underneath herself?"
To be fair, it's more of the image being funny than the actual joke itself, but still it gets mash to smile and your happy.
Mash: "I suppose your right Senpai.'
Some time passes as your Group discusses where to go next until Eventually three Conclusions are made
Director: "To the South, Is where the Einzbern Estate lies, If we're lucky the grail war destroyed most of the traps and protections there and would leave it open for Investigations. They were always the ones close to the grail, if the Holy Grail War is the cause of this, they would have to be involved."
Ophelia: "How could you tell?"
Director: "Well, I've visited the Estate once before, and the Forest looks like it belongs to it. if I'm wrong we'll get out of there."
Roman: "I wouldn't recommend it that is THE place the signature is Patrolling around. It's a pretty big one as well. like Size wise. Maybe try heading West. That's where the wandering Signature is, and if he turns out to be unfriendly you can get the Jump on him.
Vibes (Hard: Failure): The land tells you nothing, except that wherever you go, you will be unsafe.
Inland Empire (Hard: Success): ...Hm...Try going North. I have a Good feeling about what's up there.
Choose one:
[] Go North following your intuition (Gain a weapon and a possible Catalyst.)
[] Go South towards the Forest (prompts a roll to see if you can gain access to the Einzbern estate. Which holds several Mystic Codes and a catalyst)
[] Go West Towards the Unknown/Wandering Servant (Try to learn more about this Servant before meeting with them.)
[X] Go North following your intuition (Gain a weapon and a possible Catalyst.)
-[X][Calculus] Talk to Archer about the singularity along the way, using him as a sound board as you try to puzzle out at least some of the events that have occured based on the data available to you.
West would be canon, south more than we could handle, especially so soon. Best to head north. Let's talk to archer. Moriarty is too fun a character to ignore.
[X] Go North following your intuition (Gain a weapon and a possible Catalyst.)

Director: "Unfortunately yes. They seem to be a bunch of people who think they should decide Which Mysteries should remain, Which should go, and which should be revealed to the Public."
I mean granted Nasuverse actually does make more sense than the association since unlike Magi the Church doesn't try and do unspeakable crimes against humanity in the name of the Root and takes their job of making sure Dead Apostles don't eat everyone seriously
-[X][Calculus] Talk to Archer about the singularity along the way, using him as a sound board as you try to puzzle out at least some of the events that have occured based on the data available to you.
...Do I want to mark this as a Skill Check/Passive Check or do I just want to do the conversation no dice involved. Regardless very interesting Write in. I like it.

[X] Go North following your intuition (Gain a weapon and a possible Catalyst.)
-Try to talk with Scathatch about the find. She seems like the person with the best insight on magical items
I'll be ending the vote tomorrow. if there seems to be an undecided amount of write in conversations, I'll just do a roll for it. a d3 to encapsulate which one of Fujimaru's Servants to talk to.
[X] Go North following your intuition (Gain a weapon and a possible Catalyst.)

So I'm going to be honest, I just lost my draft for this. and my Will to write has been shot at. But I don't want to just let this thread rot while work on my second go at the update, this time on Google docs, which I probably should've done from the start now that I think of it. So I'll be trying to do a Bounty Board for Omakes.
I'll go into Omakes and rewards for them when I actually post up the board. But generally expect Bonuses to rolls, New thoughts, and maybe even impacting Chaldea itself and the course it would take. This should be taking less time to write than the actual Update. So expect it in like a day or so.
So Omakes, for this Quest Omakes will come in the Standard two verities. Side story typed ones, which are explicitly canon in this timeline/universe, and Apocryphal which are well not canon. Or at least it doesn't happen to the Chaldea we are following.
Rewards for Omakes Can be anything that works well with the Omake written, mostly decided by myself but you can request something from me and if I believe it's reasonable (or the Omake is just that good for the unreasonable ones) I'll grant it. Whether it is a New thought, a Boost to a Stat when engaging in a specific action (AKA specializations.) new Mystic codes (if possible), making it more or less likely for a Specific servant to show up. And others stuff as well.
Wanted Side stories:
The Friendship System Omake: In the game, the Friendship System is how Players aid other Players, sending their Servants over as Assists and gaining something called FP in return. Now I have my own feelings on Friendship Points and how they work. But what I'm looking for is an Omake about the installation of the Friendship System In-universe. How people reacted to it, how it was expected to be used, and maybe even another Chaldea realizing that a new Master is about to undertake their journey?
REWARD: Makes the Chaldean Friendship System online Sooner, Possible Assist Servant (Temporary Summons like Ophelia's Shadow Saber.) Omake opening up in the future. FP Servants Start out with stronger Noble Phantasms.
The Kyrielight Files: Mash was born and raised in Chaldea, mainly by the staff members here. But mostly by Romani Archaman. For this Omake I want to see the bond between her and the staff elaborated and expanded upon. Because the game definitely won't do it, and I'm writing this from Ritsuka's Point of View.
REWARD: as a Reward for showing Mash's experience with the staff and her experience with Roman slowly giving her a fondness for people on the weaker side of things Galahad is going to be more willing to help out. ??? is more likely to happen.
Chaldea's Emergency Repairs: As Ritsuka and company explore the blasted remains of the Holy Grail War in the Singularity, surviving and trying to resolve it Romani has his hands full trying to keep Chaldea from collapsing in on itself. I would like to see an Omake covering this.
REWARD: During the first Downtime actions to help repair chaldea will have their DC's lowered from the work the staff has already done, and will give a Bonus to repairing Chaldea should anyone (Probably Servant if we're being honest) damages it. Increase the Bond between Roman and the Staff he's worked with.
Friendly Neighborhood AI: Chaldea itself is alive...sort of. See in-game it is hinted to have at least 1 AI, maybe even more. And they are fond of the people inhabiting the structure they run or at least of all the official Chaldean staff and Masters. I want to see something from it's perspective. At any point of the timeline from the Start of Part 1 to the Start of Part 2.
REWARD: The Reward for this is three things, the DC for Making contact with the AI's of Chaldea will be halved, The Effect this character provides (if there is one) will be doubled, and any interfacing roll that deals with something the AI interacts with gains a meaty bonus.
Wanted Apocryphal:
Simulation Fatigue: in Canon the Chaldea AI (or at least one of them. Possibly the simulator one?) registered Ritsuka, and while the Registration was going through tossed him into the tutorial/Master Simulation. A bit of Training for the future. Now Fujimaru has no idea what had happened in there as his brain was utterly screwed by his narcolepsy and the jet lag getting to him, not the mention post airplane exhaustion. So for the purpose of this Omake, is to create a team combination of one Gold Saber, one Silver Lancer, and one Bronze Archer and illuminate what went on in there. This saber, lancer and Archer are only limited by one thing, they cannot be Story Locked. Limited time (in canon) Servants are fine, and so are General Pool Servants.
REWARD: for illuminating a vision of what COULD have happened in the simulator, you gain a boosted chance to summon the Servants in the simulator (well a 100% chance for the Archer and Lancer), and a Bond bonus to the three Servants once you summon them in.
The gacha Woman Cometh: Paul Bunyan's existence confirms that the Riyo-verse is canon in FGO, or at least houses a Multiverse full of entirely Learning with Manga characters with it's own personal Throne of heroes. What I want from this is basically well either write simply a version of Riyo Gudako with her own deranged voices in her head, or her preparing to spring the All the Statesman Event when she get's the free time.
REWARD: You make sure that the All the Statesman Event happens earlier in the Timeline, Either directly before or Directly after Singularity 2. Chance for more Riyo-Verse characters to cross over and Omakes to pop up on the board.
Olga and Dr.Roman both look at you with a bit of surprise.
Ritsuka: "I dunno, it's just a Hunch I have. Besides if it isn't a good one we could always just meet up with the Servant."
You think about pointing out how it's also the safer option But…
Authority: Don't push it Fujimaru. Unless you WANT Olga to have a worse impression of you than she already does.
You decide it's better not to push your luck.
Olga: "Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt us. But if this turns out to be a big waste of time it's your responsibility Fujimaru."
Ritsuka: "I can live with that"
as you move to walk forward you find yourself pacing besides Ophelia, and seeing as you haven't had the chance to have a real one on one conversation with her, mainly just her and Mash, you decide to talk to Ophelia One on One.....With her Servant overseeing the conversation with a curious eye.
Ritsuka: "So Ophelia, I just realized that the two of us haven't actually been introduced ourselves...and i figured, that now was a good of a time as any."
Ophelia: "Now? Is it really a good of a time as you think?"
Ritsuka: "Well, I don't imagine that we'll have much time to talk to each other like this in the near future. and then there's whatever is awaiting us back at Chaldea....But if you'd like we can stick to some basic stuff, like skills and what we can bring to the table, stuff we should know about each other so we can better coordinate in battle."
Suggestion: Ooh, good call. hitting her with the soft sell to open her up to more personal conversations later.
Ophelia: "alright, I suppose I can do that."
Ritsuka: "I'll go first then. My name is Ritsuka Fujimaru, I excel in the Mental and Technical sides of things. However, my Physical abilities are lacking."
You hear Scathatch Snort.
Physical Instrument: Yeah, I agree with her.
Empathy (Easy: Success): She thinks lacking is putting things lightly.
Ritsuka: "in terms of Magic well I am a first generation Mage so I'm unexperienced in it."
Ophelia: "You mean magecraft?"
Ritsuka: "Isn't that what I said?"
Ophelia: "No. Magic and Magecraft are two different things, the former stronger than the other."
Ritsuka: "How does that work?"
Ophelia: "I....I don't think I can explain the true might of Magic, but Magecraft is something that emulates it, or rather Magecraft is the Art of using Human Wisdom to try an emulate the Magicians of the past, as whenever something previously thought to only be done through Magic is replicated by Modern Advancements, the Magic becomes downgraded into a Mere Magecraft. Able to be used by anyone willing to put in the work but as a consequence it becomes weaker."
Reaction Speed: Wait Magicians? Like the Stage Preformers?
Logic: Possibly where the name originates before being co-opted by the mundane trying to emulate them.
Ritsuka: "I see. Well how about you?"
Ophelia: "Well, I am Ophelia Phamrsolone, I specialize in Spiritual Evocation...and that's about it Magecraft Wise. So, if you need any help learning about that, you could ah. You could always come to me for help."
Ritsuka: "Noted. But what about your skillset? got anything you can bring to the table outside of Magecraft?"
Opheila: "Well...I've been told that I'm not a bad person to hang around, and I have extensive knowledge on a lot. However, My technical skills aren't the greatest."
Ritsuka: "Well I can always help you out with that, or try to anyways. Paying you back for any Magecraft lessons you give me"
Now that got Scathatch's Attention. ...You don't think you like it.
Scathatch: "Oh really? a Runt like you?"
Ritsuka: "Well...Uh...I might not be as fast as you are but I like to think I'm pretty Nimble."
Scathatch: "...I'll be the judge of that. Who knows, if you impress me enough I might let you participate in my Master's training regimen I'm planning for her."
Physical Instrument: Jackpot. Listen Shades. Do not fuck this up. We need her.
Finesse: Don't worry man, my coolness will be sure to impress.
Ritsuka: ....Hoo boy. This is going to be a handful isn't it?
Electro Chemistry: Look on the Bright Side, who wouldn't want to get nice and sweaty with a Bombshell and a Cute girl.
Ritsuka: ...right.
Ophelia: "W-Well I'll keep that in mind as well."
You talk with Ophelia a bit more, getting acquainted with her skills and Magecraft, as well as getting to know her better as a person when suddenly Olga speaks up.
a small gasp comes from Ophelia as she overhears the name, as you and your servants Mash included share a confused look. Eventually Archer speaks up as Ophelia rushes to meet with Olga.
Archer: "For those of us not in the know, why exactly is this a big deal?"
Director: "This is the Home of Kiritsugu Emiya! the Magus Killer, the Boogeyman of Mage Society! The only way this could be any less of a big deal would be if the Einzberns weren't involved. "
Ritsuka: "Right...assuming that they're still alive that is."
Director: "Regardless having the weapons of the Magus Killer on our side will be a big boon for Chaldea as a whole. Now come on, We'll Search this place for one of his weapons. Surely he must keep SOMETHING around here."
And so you began to search the area.
Visual Calculus (Challenging: Success): I don't know enough about this place to properly define where a secret cache is with all the flames and destruction and smoke, but I can let you know when we find something that could theoretically house a weapon.
Logic (Medium: Success): Something sturdy, or well hidden is the logical place. Hard to reach or where nobody would think to look.
Perception (Hard: Success): Despite the smoke and flames, you keep your eyes set on the prize, when you spot it, a small safe on a collapsed wall. Jackpot. Maybe.
Ritsuka: Is it alright to touch?
Perception: There aren't any flames around it. It shouldn't be too much of a pain.
Pain Threshold: I hope not.
You carefully walk over trying to avoid any hazards that are in the way, mostly rubble. And as you make it over to the you inspect it.
Perception: it's damaged.
Interfacing: Damaged enough for us to easily open. let's just hope whatever was inside is in good shape.
Inland Empire: I believe it is.
You pop open the safe to see a gun and some bullets inside.
Item Gained: Thomspon contender and 12 strange Bullets
So on this journey and unlike FGO proper you will be receiving Offensive Mystic Codes and Weapons that can provide new actions and options in and out of combat. some you'll have to go out of the way to find and others that will be handed to you. These Weapons differ from regular Mystic Codes in many ways.
For example, Chaldea Uniform and other Wearable mystic Codes you can wear both in game and in this RP are made to be simple to use, as such you only need to succeed the Artifice check once to use it. This is not the case with Weaponry which will need a DC to be made every time you want to use it in battle. This can be countered via an EXP System which will track how good Fujimaru is at handling said weapon. With each Level reducing the DC of the Weapon until it's essentially a Mystic Code in its easy to use with you only needing to roll if your attack is being contested. Credit to Dmol8 for coming up with this system.
All Weapon Checks start at a DC of Challenging and will go down from there
You pick up the Gun to get a feel for it and how it operates.
Interfacing: This is....quite the old model, looks like something you saw when researching old Guns for that one Game of Call of Cthulhu you've played in the past. Looks like a break Action pistol.
Encyclopedia (Challenging: Failure): Unfortunately, you have no idea what this model is called.
Hand Eye Coordination: The weight of the gun is an alien presence for your peaceful hands, you know that this...this is different from those Nerf Guns Dad had given you, weightier, Heavier somehow.
Inland Empire: Part of this weight is fully metaphorical, as unlike what you've wielded in the past, this is a weapon. It's main purpose is to hurt, to kill..it is a heavy burden to bear
Hand Eye Coordination (Challenging: Failure): This is not a weight you'll be able to bear.
Hand Eye Coordination (Hard: Success): At least not on your own, with training and time you'll be able to handle this gun
Ritsuka: "Hey Director Animusphere, I think I found something you would be interested in."
You say holding up the Gun and the bundle of bullets for all to see, catching her attention and her ire...which has been really easy so far.
Director: "Wha-Don't hold it like that!"
She approaches and you lower your hands to normal holding height. As she looks it over you see a flash of worry in her eyes as well as one of relief as she reaches for it.
Director: "Alright, well it's not a lot but it'll at least be enough to keep me safe."
Half Light: Wait why does SHE get the Gun? We found it didn't we? don't WE deserve the protection it carries
Ritsuka: "Okay uh Director Animusphere, do you even know how to use that?"
Director: "Of course I do, why do you ask?"
Logic: Alright Ritsuka, if we want the Gun we need to either make her okay with us using it, make a deal with her to try and use it sometimes, but that's about it.
You think over the options laid out before you, if you want the gun or not.
Choose One:
[ ] Convince Olga to let you handle the Gun (DC 12 Suggestion check)
[ ] Try to compromise with Olga (DC 10 Rhetoric, This will make it so that Olga will pass you the gun so long as one of your servants are guarding her personally. )
[ ] Let Olga use the Gun (Default option no check.)
Oh. This is bad, very bad. If Olga or us can use that gun in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time we will derail the entire plot of F/GO in places. Welp good luck with the vote I will come by later when I think about it.
[X] Try to compromise with Olga (DC 10 Rhetoric, This will make it so that Olga will pass you the gun so long as one of your servants are guarding her personally. )
We may be unable to use it currently, but it may be wise to have a weapon, at least until we are all safe and sound
[X] Try to compromise with Olga (DC 10 Rhetoric, This will make it so that Olga will pass you the gun so long as one of your servants are guarding her personally. )
Worth a shot and this is a Skill under our highest Attribute so after some thinking I'm going for this.
