Yeah, if the ruined crater gave us like 15 points or so to clean our balance I would understand going for it, but choosing to have a massive tech disadvantage when we are going to war with slavers for the points we would get for a couple of omakes?[X] …a sizable research station. (Canon) (+0 DP)
Do we need a reminder that if humanity doesn't have at least a little bit of eezo tech we're going have millions of humans snatched by slavers? We don't need to make up the deficit this way, the costs outweigh the gains too significantly when we could easily make it up through one or two omakes.
That's honestly why I'm so against getting so much Prothean tech. If we'd gone for 2057, or really anything other than the centuries of extra progress humanity got then I might be more inclined towards it, but even ignoring how deep into DP debt we are, I'm real annoyed with how the same argument is being used here as it was turn 1. "If we don't get X, we're dooming humanity!" No it won't. Waith mentioned it before, but a humanity going full NASApunk would be a really fun idea with how spread out humanity has gotten; it expresses the "human spirit" in a way that isn't obnoxiously "Humanity! F- Yeah!"It would even line up with the accelerated growth of humanity in this timeline. The Protheans dumped more resources into our development, and now we're a couple centuries ahead of schedule.
Especially not when everything's being measured on a points scale and we're already in debt. Unless people start churning out decent omakes like hotcakes.Come on guys, this isn't a HFY Halo Crossover, no guarantee we'll develop hyperspace or super awesome laser and plasma weaponry
Worth noting. The Asari are intentionally holding themselves back. Keeping juuuust far enough ahead of the pack at all times to stay the dominant power.[X] …a sizable research station. (Canon) (+0 DP)

I doubt it would doom the quest considering how close the final battle is portrayed with perfect choices in the series with just conventional forces but it certainly raises the bar since at that point our only option for opposing the reapers is conventional force without a dues ex machina.(And to address the Crucible concerns, I seriously doubt the QM is going to go "whoops, that decision you made turn 3 doomed the quest several dozen turns ago.")
