I didn't really think about it earlier but Chansey got done dirty man. She got punched in the face fifty times and came out of it not knowing how to take a punch any better than when she went in... Although I guess that checks out considering how bad a concussion that would give you. :V

Chansey's brain is like a shaken egg at this point, just a smooth blended together mess :V

More seriously though, Chansey has an increased XP requirement in order to get levels in Defense due to it being a weakspot of the Chansey line. But that's compensated by her absurd level of health and stamina.

Alright, I'm now back at home after dealing with the issues IRL and good news is that I should be back to the regular updates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So expect an update Wednesday.

As for the current vote, looks like a visit to the Pokemon Fan Club wins. Although first, you have a gym battle to get through. Which I honestly won't even be rolling for as you're over levelled to the point that you're unironically ready for a three-badge fight. As it is, in the battle Chansey learns Take Down and Pineco learned Rollout.

Hopefully, we can take some time off, and take a social action next turn. Battling is great but variety is the spice of life Violet you battle maniac.

I'm a bit relieved. As cool as battle is, in just about any / every quest, combat will often take some amounts of updates to resolve and get through, and having an auto-battle (gym or not) streamlines things a bit both probably for you, and getting us back on the road.

I'm glad you're safe and well, keep taking care of yourself DH 💜💜💜💜

Kanto Week 17 Part 1 - The Thunder Badge
[X] Visit the Pokemon Fan Club - The Kanto branch of the Pokemon Fan Club holds regular meetings. Generally, you could expect a few highly experienced trainers to be around regardless of the occasion. Skarmory and his trainer for instance.

Violet immediately decided to head to the Vermillion City Gym. She had ensured she could get here quickly and based on her performance in Lavender Town, her Pokemon were more than ready to earn the second official badge of the Kanto Region. Saying a temporary goodbye to Willow who was searching the nearby area for a Heracross, Violet entered the gym in the mid-afternoon.

The gym was home to a number of what could only be described as soldiers. Veterans of the Kanto-Johto War led by Lieutenant Surge, Violet could tell there was a great deal of familiarity between the various trainers and their leader. Pausing for a moment to look over the various facilities and high-voltage power lines cleverly scattered throughout the arena, she made a mental note for Magnemite to be one of the Pokemon she used today.

After a few seconds of gawking, Violet was approached by one of the gym's trainers, a large gentleman with a rather well-put-together suit. Breaking from her gaze on the gym's structure, she analyzed the approaching trainer trying to see how she should open the conversation. "What are you here for, kid?" The gym trainer asked in a baritone voice.

Violet gestured towards the Cascade Badge which she had pinned to her shirt in anticipation of the match. Next to it was the Tower Badge, the unofficial token highlighting her experience as a trainer. "A two-badge fight please." In contrast to the trainer's tone, Violet's words were soft and quiet. Testing the waters for what she should say.

"Huh," the gentleman intoned. "We don't see many kids around here with that one." He gestured towards the Tower Badge. "I'll have you skip the usual vetting process, give it a few minutes and the Lieutenant will be with you."

Violet blinked at that, she came here expecting to fight with one of her Pokemon before using the other three in the fight with Lieutenant Surge. This made things easier, even if one of her Pokemon would feel left out. "Th-thank you."

As she waited for her turn, the shy girl mentally planned out her strategy. Magnemite would be involved as would Pineco. The harder choice was between Dratini and Chansey, both of them were excellent choices but they served different roles. In the end, the choice came down to the fact that Dratini had already fought in one gym battle so far. If she put Chansey in then every one of her Pokemon would have fought in a battle.

The actual fight itself was anticlimactic. Lieutenant Surge sent out a Voltorb first to face Violet's Pineco. It was a harder fight than Violet expected, with Pineco's lack of a ranged move causing her a few problems. Voltorb was considerably faster than her, which forced Pineco into a highly aggressive posture she was ill-suited for. However, after several minutes of Protects, Bug Bites, and Tackles, Voltorb began to slow down as their Stamina ran low. Using his one switch, Surge switched to his ace, Raichu.

Violet didn't even have to tell Pineco what to do. The Bagworm Pokemon knew it instinctively. "Pineco, Self-Destruct." She said with a satisfied smile before having Pineco switch with Magnemite.

Surge was clearly irritated with the rapid removal of Raichu, and downgrading to his Pikachu was a doomed task. There was a tricky moment when Violet almost ordered Magnemite to use Thunder Shock, but then she noticed the hidden smirk on the gym leader's face and realized the Pikachu could have Volt Absorb. As such, she chose the safer route of Supersonic and Gyro Ball, confusing the Mouse Pokemon and whittling away their health until they fainted.

Voltorb returned to the field and Violet used her second of three switches to put Chansey in the fight. The Egg Pokemon puffed up her chest and the fight unfolded exactly as the shy girl planned. Voltorb was tired out, Chansey used Life Dew to keep herself healthy and proceeded to use Echoed Voice to remove the last of the gym leader's Pokemon from play.

*Chansey learned Take Down at D+*
*Pineco learned Rollout at D++*
*Violet is now able to purchase TMs and HMs*

Walking out of the gym with the Thunder Badge, Violet added it to her shirt next to the Cascade Badge and moved the Tower Badge into a row below the official ones. Rather pleased with how the battle went, she headed towards the Pokemon fan club meeting.

Pick 2
[] An Associate Professor studying rare Pokemon has been exchanging bikes designed for trainers in exchange for examining rare Pokemon. Dratini would qualify for this.
[] A Graduate Student from Kalos is holding a talk on Mega Evolution, a recently discovered method to induce a temporary evolution in certain Pokemon.
[] Officer Jenny is present and trying to seem focused on the talk as a whole, but to Violet's eyes, it's clear that she's trying to eavesdrop on more than one conversation.
[] A representative from Silph Co is providing free samples of some of their newest Pokeballs, it may be useful to take a look.
[] A trainer with a trailing Gengar is being given a wide berth by those around him. He's surprisingly young, but you can see that he has 12 badges pinned to his jacket.

Alright, looks like it's time for me to call the vote. Seems like you're getting into contact with the trainer with 12 badges and getting a bike. I will say that while a Bike does help accelerate travel speed, it isn't going to halve everything.

The Pokemon Fan Club was a lot bigger than Violet had expected. Swallowing nervously at the sheer number of people present (around a hundred), she soothed her nerves by reminding herself that it's hard to single someone out in a crowd. Looking over the various attractions and exhibits, Violet found herself interested in a booth set up by an Associate Professor.

Glancing over at the booth, she spotted a sign indicating the rare Pokemon the Professor had seen today and who they were seeking. Thus far, of the 20 Pokemon on the list, only two had been seen. A Metagross and Tyranitar. Noticing that the Professor was offering a bike in exchange for an examination, Violet grabbed Dratini's Pokeball and slowly approached.

The Professor in question seemed to look over her, clearly disregarding Violet as below her notice. It made the introduction far more awkward than the shy girl wanted, although she did have the easy way out of just unleashing Dratini. "Are - Did you want to see Dratini?"

The Professor looked at her with a surprised expression, allowing Violet to study the individual a bit more. The Professor was a middle-aged woman who preferred to focus on older trainers. Already, Violet could tell she was simply humoring her. "I do, do your parents have one?"

The shy girl shifted her stance wishing Willow was here. She'd know how to handle this better. "I … I have one?" Violet's words were soft and uncertain, even more than usual. Lightly throwing Dratini's Pokeball, she mentally relaxed as she could rely on her oldest companion to do the talking and take up the attention.

The rest of that social encounter proceeded as Violet expected. The Professor barely spared her another glance, instead fussing over Dratini and conducting a scan with a modified Pokedex. Over the next 15 minutes, the Mirage Pokemon cooperated with the scans until they were finished. At which point Dratini gave the Professor an annoyed look before curling around Violet's shoulders. With that done, the Professor held up her end of the advertisement, providing the shy girl with a high-end bike designed and built for Pokemon trainers. Not bothering to say thanks, Violet walked away, mentally noting that Dratini had grown notably heavier over the last few weeks.

Deciding to spend a few minutes just observing the crowd, Violet looked around at the various trainers. Here and there she spotted trainers from other regions, most prominently Johto as expected. It was a diverse crowd overall, more so than she expected as Kanto historically didn't have much immigration or emigration. As she felt her gaze drift through the crowd, Violet noticed a trainer being given a surprisingly wide berth by other trainers. He was a little older than her and had a Gengar following him. He appeared rather focused on the speaker from Kalos, but since that talk ended he had taken to appreciating some of the food on display.

Dratini chirped at Violet, encouraging her to say hi. Giving her partner a betrayed look, the shy girl nonetheless decided to follow her companion's advice.

"If he's a jerk, I blame you," Violet whispered. Taking a few slow but steady steps forward, she was able to pick up additional details from the trainer's accessories. Pinned on his jacket were 12 badges, six of which she recognized as ones in the Kanto region with another six that she didn't recognize.

Taking another step closer, Violet felt an unnatural sense of unease crawl up her spine. Looking around her, she took another step forward feeling the sense of dread palpably increase. Staring at Gengar, for who else would be causing this feeling, the Shadow Pokemon looked back at her. Tilting his body, he smirked and Violet felt the dread increase further.

Holding Dratini for comfort, the shy girl almost began to run. Almost. "St-stop that." She intended it to sound somewhat stern, but instead, the words came out as a whisper.

Gengar's trainer however felt something was off, glancing at her with an odd look. "Did you say something?"

The feeling of dread vanished and Violet breathed a sigh of relief. "Your Gengar is mean." She explained, holding a concerned and worried Dratini close to her chest.

The trainer looked at her for a moment before the realization dawned on him. "Damn it Gengar, so you're why no one approached me." Swearing in a voice he thought was too low for Violet to hear, he immediately withdrew the Shadow Pokemon to his Pokeball. "You're not battling until you stop doing that." Turning back towards Violet, the trainer looked deeply apologetic. "I'm so, so sorry about that, I should have kept a better eye on him."

If she was alone, perhaps Violet would have let it go. Dratini, however, chirped angrily at Gengar's trainer. Chiding him on his poor oversight, the trainer shrunk back.

"I know, I know. I really shouldn't have taken him out, he's been a bit of a problem ever since I caught him." The trainer stepped back, sheepishly running a hand through his hair. "I'm truly sorry about all this, could we start over?"

Violet didn't respond, gesturing for Dratini to reply for her. The Mirage Pokemon narrowed his eyes and huffed. He'd have to do better than that for Dratini to let this go.

The trainer winced at that. "I, uh, I can get you reservations at a good hotel? Would that fix this?"

Dratini's expression slightly softened realizing that the trainer was genuinely apologetic. "Two reservations." Violet whispered, "I have a friend with me."

"Right, right. Two I can do." The trainer said with a sigh of relief. "I'm Flynn by the way. And I wish we met under better circumstances."

"Violet," she said simply, a little amused at Flynn's obvious embarrassment. "Does he do this often?"

Flynn combed his hair with his fingers, a nervous tell that Violet noticed. "He, uh, I've had him for a month now. He's … not very sociable."

"You should work on that," Violet said with a concealed smirk, causing Flynn to splutter and wince. This conversation might be more fun than she thought.

The Eighteenth Week, Pick 2

Pokemon Actions

[-] Catch a fifth Pokemon - Now that your team has its core members, a fifth and sixth member would be useful and have more possible options. However, it's quite early for that. Locked.
[] Train with your Pokemon - All of your Pokemon are skilled in battle with unique skills. Several of them are near breakthroughs so training would help considerably.
[] Buy and Use TMs/HMs - You're a big enough trainer to afford TMs and HMs for your Pokemon. You should take advantage of it when you can.
[-] Train with Willow's Pokemon - While it would be nontraditional to train with your rival, both of you have unique skill sets that could complement each other. Unfortunately, Willow is busy this week.

Battling Actions

[] Challenge New Trainers - Now that you and your Pokemon have developed, fighting a few trainers in rapid succession would be easy.
[] Challenge an Experienced Trainer - Some trainers in the area have two badges, beating them may be a good experience.
[] Challenge Flynn to a Battle - You're not going to win, but Flynn is one of the strongest trainers you've seen. He'd go easy on you and use some of his newer Pokemon, but his strategy would likely be interesting to see.
[] Explore the Construction Site - There's something clearly odd about it. A construction site that has been in the middle of construction for years without progress … You're sure there's something more to it.

Exploration Actions

[] See the Sights Inside the City - There are a number of interesting attractions in Vermillion City. The port is rather interesting and holds a fair few internationally-themed attractions.
[] Explore the Boats - A few boats from various regions are currently docked. Most of them have a policy of allowing trainers onboard to challenge others. It may be fun to check out the area.
[] See the Sights Outside the City - With Diglett Cave nearby, it could be fun to spend a few days exploring the cave system and see what interesting locations and Pokemon are within.
[] Explore Unorthodox Locations - There is a lighthouse nearby that's seldom visited. Spending a day or two to visit could be interesting.
[] Find the Thieves - Several trainers have been ambushed on the outskirts of Vermillion City causing them to lose their Pokemon. Several trainers are planning on participating in an operation to hunt down the suspected Team Rocket members.

Traveling Actions

*The Pokemon League has requested a pause on travel due to a dramatic increase in Pokemon theft in the area

Social Actions (For socials, it's assumed you keep up a basic level of contact through text, choosing a social means I write it up)

[] Call up your parents - Your parents are very curious about your new traveling companion and would like to ask about Willow.
[] Call Tetsuya - An old childhood friend of yours, the two of you drifted off recently. He is currently preparing to take on the Saffron City Gym.
[] The Hotel - The Hotel Flynn had tickets for is very, very fancy. A four-star resort it'd be fantastic to just relax with your Pokemon and Willow.

Bruh, I sent Violet off to make a new friend and we somehow ended up shaking him down well trolling him... Perfection. :V

ftfy

Violet just scammed that man out of two room reservations lol
