ARTIFACT (*****) - THE LENS LANCE
DESCRIPTION: Forged in a heartbeat, lurking within the machine for ten thousand years, the fury and spirit of a barely tamed gravitic imploder lance - long mistaken for and used as an agrav system aboard an orbital habitat - has been once more aroused to the glory of battle. Though her functions are as of yet locked behind codewalls and mystery, she remains a terrifying weapon in the hands of a skilled warrior. Her legend will burn across the galaxy.

FAMILIAR (**) - GITTA, THE EVER LOYAL
DESCRIPTION: They say the Kriegers pour their hearts into their horses - but beyond their world, none know their mounts as anything but numbers on an Administratum file. Gitta will change that. Ia! Ia! Praise her! Praise Sainted Gitta, The Ever Loyal! Ia! Ia!

TEMPERED BY THE ELEMENTS (**) - DAUGHTER OF VATS, BORN OF WAR
DESCRIPTION: Though fading into seeming insignificance in the glorious dawn of a new age, the first Twilight to walk the galaxy since the fading of the Age of Sorrows was inured to the chaos of a modern battlefield, moving across it as swiftly as open ground.

SELECTIVE CONCEPTION (*) - SUBDERMAL IMPLANT IN THE THIGH
DESCRIPTION: ...this is actually just standard issue for Imperial Guardsmen from any world with a Magos Biologis on it.

LANGUAGES (*)
DESCRIPTION: You can speak the ancient tongue of The Old Realm!

INTIMACIES

Defining: The Galaxy is a Body, I will Heal it (Positive)
Major: Kit (Confused Attraction), Chaos (Hatred), Gitta (Love)
Minor: Technology (fascination), Xenos (Fear)

CHARMS

IN SUMMATION: Genuis flows, unabated, through the mind of the First Twilight. She is able to hold multiple projects in mind at once, easier than any mortal, while also shifting her focuses - despite not being trained in the crafting of explosives or metallurgy, she could shift her ability to create medical chemicals into that with some effort. She is able to inspire herself to construct even mighty artifacts swifter than any mortal, so long as she crafts projects that aid and help her allies and friends. She can complete mundane and even complex tasks - building a rifle, a suit of armor, or a small vehicle - in literal seconds using nothing but the raw materials and her bare hands. Raw excellence overflows in all her favored and caste abilities, bolstering their dicepools if required.

Keep the mask. Let it be the beacon that call of Krieg forward.

I prefer these to 41-22 abandoning her home culture at a moments notice and it would be nice to explore some more of the culture DragonCobolt has created for the Krieg.

On one hand planetary tradition and self identity, on the other showing off that Appearance 5.

[X] You're still Krieg, just... Krieg construction and repair equipment. Tanks are worth a lot more than a guardsmen, sure, and the opinions of their machine spirits are more important than the desires of a guardsman, and they have way more legal rights, but they're still part of Krieg!

If this were any other setting I would consider the implications of this to be much more self-deprecating, but because it's 40k, this is a step up. And as a bonus, nobody asks vehicles to give speeches!
Edit: This might have the problem of "people do human sacrifice in our name" but we can probably convince them to stop doing that if they start it up.

On the other hand where we come from is terrible. Kriegers are soldiers of a terminally fascist regime with no respect for human life who give other soldiers of said terminally fascist regime the creeps because of how beaten down they are by their upbringing.

We should work to raise our fellows up, not just accept it as the natural order of things.

[X] "12-12 said that being chosen a Medic didn't make me less Krieg. This doesn't make me less Krieg either."

I like this, always chosen for the least Krieg task, navy, medic now techno saint. The only choice we have is whether to spend our life well or not.
The fact that you're being flooded with very unKrieger memories can examined and made to work later.

I've fixed the character sheet, but if SV fucks up the formatting AGAIN after I fixed it twice, I am going to delete the quest and become a hermit
If the character sheet does break again, for the love of the Emperor, nobody say anything!

I think it's too early for 41 to discard such a large part of who she is. She has constantly insisted that she is still Krieg and I don't see why she would stop now.

Edit: I think/predict that she would be more likely to drop the idea that she is expendable than her mask and Krieger identity. She seems like she is starting to realize that she isn't just another body made to die by the millions/billions in the name of the Emperor. She is Unique and Important now, which overrides the Must Die for the Emperor idea... I think.

Thinking you are special and unique and shouldn't die pointlessly is the first step into realizing everyone is unique too, and that path leads to...what? Not getting millions of people killed??? Are you sure you all want to go down this route?

Also, a fact I want to share since it looks like it's not winning but changing out your mask for goggles and a cloth covering would end up covering even more of your face and head once she's done crafting it, which i find very funny

Both of these hit the notes i love of "my home culture doesnt define me, but I am still a product of it" which I love

I think it isn't about denying uniqueness but rather a step in elevating Kriegness. If her motivation is that the galaxy is a body and she will heal it, if the purpose of a Krieg Medic is to ensure the most amount of blood is paid for every death earned, then Exaltation into making Death Optional means no life is to be wasted.

That if Krieg can be condemned because of the failures of it's past, then being able to forever draw and never die means Krieg can be redeemed.

It isn't denying that uniqueness, as being a medic was unique, but that she is learning to accept that uniqueness in addition to being Krieg instead of being in spite of. For if she wasn't chosen to be a medic from birth then would she have even been here to Exalt as a Chosen? If she wasn't Krieg them would she have been chosen? If that is so, then cannot Krieg actually be redeemed?

Just my headspace with my write in

So, Amberly Cain, kind of a comedic character so far, not unlike her father, but giving it some thought (possibly too much thought), she's probably a pretty depressing figure. So first off, we know that her father is CIAPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!, and I think its safe to assume from her name that the ever busy Inquisitor Amberly Vail is her mother. Which means, she almost certainly had little to no exposure to either of her biological parents growing up. God-Aunt Sulla might be her functional mother, or might just be a major figure in her childhood but not her primary caretaker, there's too little to say. I don't actually know if that's a good or bad thing though, because all I really remember about Sulla is that both Cain and Vail thought she was a shitty writer.

Next up, we have to consider how honest she's been so far. As we all know CIAPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM's internal thoughts and feelings, rarely if ever match his external words and actions. If she is at all her father's daughter, its likely this is also true for her, even if it probably takes a notably different form. CIAPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM after all considers himself a coward and a fraud. However, his reputation is so incredibly massive, that even if Amberly junior got some nepotistic benefit out of it, she has also been living in his shadow for her entire life (or at least since she started Commissar school). So, I suspect her internal thoughts have been a long the line of "If my father was here, half the planet would have never fallen to chaos", "If my father was here, the command staff would have never been overthrown and arrested", and "If my father was here he would have dealt with this weird glowing Krieger on sight." I suspect there might also be a bit of a side order of being a fraud of like her half convinced she never would have graduated commissar school if not for her father's reputation.

Now, for the last bit, Arcane Fate. This I think can resolve in two distinct manners, Amberly Cain learns of the full nature of Arcane Fate either from 41 or just experience and one day has the realization that even if she see's her parents again, they won't even remember she exists. Which obviously suck. The other way, is she doesn't learn of Arcane Fate, and happens to run into either of her parents. Which leads to her going "Look Mother and/or Father, I too am a Hero of the Imperium" followed by them going "Who the frak are you?" and/or "I have no children, arrest this imposter." Which well, probably sucks even more.

Sounds goooooooooood

Maybe Krieg? (2.9)
Your brain skitters around something close to theology - you wonder if heresy feels like this...or if this was how 01-01 felt, when he first cast aside his name and became the first Krieger, when he laid down the acts of Penitence. You wondered...were you just being arrogant? Was this just megalomania? Or were you onto something?

Were you a light to lead the Krieg?

Where would you lead them too?

Anywhere I wish.
The thought was one of those crystal clear spikes of some other you, some echoing thought that had come from a past that wasn't your childhood. It was unnerving. No, scratch that, it was downright terrifying - not just for what it was, but what it said.

Anywhere you wish...

You let your brain taste that possibility and almost immediately jerked away as your mind threw out...a blue world, covered in glittering cities, looking up at the light of distant suns and dreaming of humanity everlasting. Heady, impossible visions of plenty and happiness and peace. The idea that no one would have to die. Ever. Not even once. You had to not think about it.

It hurt too much when you were standing in the muck.

How would you say all this out loud? What could you say to 09-19 that would have her see this - and not have her cast you back into the role of heretic, traitor, mutant? Your tongue had never felt fatter and more useless. Low Gothic had never felt like such an imprecise, and useless language. You could show her, you knew, with the schematics and diagrams - motonic reactors and food synthesizers, automated transit systems and manses, clockwork servitors without flesh that needed to suffer - but you also knew she'd never understand. You felt a pang of loneliness. A future where the only people who understood you were...were Tech Priests.

And Kit...

And, ugh, Amberly.

Behind your mask, your lips thinned and you finally spoke, quietly. "12-12 said that being chosen a Medic didn't make me less Krieg. This doesn't make me less Krieg either."

09-19 regarded you.

Then she nodded. "Maybe," she said.

And that was enough.

Amberly, who had been standing nearby, looking increasingly awkward, coughed. "Behold! Yonder recon force hath returned! Let us learn what they have sought so valiantly to recover!"

Kit just kissed the top of your head - which caused you to squeak, splutter, and boil over.

Sergeant M'Kuul was a Catachean, meaning he was roughly as big as you, skinny as a trenchrat, and was perpetually sharpening a knife. The map he had laid out was marked with his infantryman's signaler, and was pretty remarkably detailed - you saw the double rectangle shape of the hydroponics bay, yes, and could immediately see that they had to be functional - there were no damage markers that had been laid down and their shape was entirely unbroken. Based on their size, they had barely enough hydroponic carrying capacity to manage a quarter of your army. That wouldn't matter once you got your hands on them. You were honestly not sure if you should go for something simple and mass production...maybe alterantively, something more wide spread. Recreating the planetary ecology was a kind of craft. Hmm. That was a possibility, actually. Less work in the long term-

That long term is centuries, you thought, like probing a tooth with your tongue.

The thought didn't change.

Less work. Long term.

You felt a cold prickle of fear run along your spine.

"So, um..." you paused, then said, quietly. "Should be easy enough."

"Are you blind?" Amberly snapped. "There's two armored platoons, power armor, and a division's worth of dug in infantry!"

You blinked, then shifted your gaze from the promising rectangles. There were all the force markers.

"Oh," you said. "Right, sorry, I...I meant fixing the hydroponics."

"No need to fix em, m'ld" M'kuul said, contracting m'lady down to a mumble. Catacheans, based on your few interactions with them, ate parts of words that they considered unnecessary, making them feel a bit like malformed, almost Kriegers. Kriegers simply used precise, short sentences, which gave their Low Gothic a certain bevity and wit. Catacheans were just mumblers. "The w'ho thin work j'st fine."

"No, I know, it's just I can make it better," you said.

"So you claim," Amberly said, snorting. "But there remains the issue that it is currently entrenched by a force greater than our own - they, unlike us, did not deconstruct their heavy armor into a lance battery."

"I only deconstructed our earthshakers!" you said.

"Which is all that's left of our heavy armor," Amberly said. "We have better infantry, I think, pound for pound, but look." SHe pointed. "There's at least one marine down here - not sure why he was left behind..."

"Horns," Sergeant M'Kuul said, using his knife to indicate a horn jutting out of his head.

"What color?" you asked.

He shrugged. "Blue."

"Oh my Emperor," you whispered. "It's the guy!"

"What guy?" Kit asked, frowning.

"Um...before this all happened, there was a...well, I suppose he was a sorcerer," you said. "He tried to kidnap and sacrifice me."

A low, angry growl came from Kit.

"But I did throw a lance at him!" you said, nodding. "He was quite badly wounded. Maybe he survived..." You rubbed your finger along your chin.

"Seemed fine," M'Kuul said.

"Hurm," you said, frowning slightly. "What was he doing?"

"Chay stuff," M'Kuul said, drawing his knife along his sharpening stone with a slow scrape, scrape, scree screen. "Tyin' up folk. Cutten' 'em."

You jerked your head up. "We have to rescue them!" you said, immediately.

"While normally, I would hasten to point out that they are traitors, and thus, deserve any fate that befalls them...none deserve the fate of being captured and used by a vile Chaos Sorcerer," Amberly said, her voice so thick with portentous gravity that you had to check and make sure the Lens Lance hadn't been turned on. You frowned at her.

"Not just gonna shoot them?" you asked, angrily.

"I wasn't just going to shoot you!" Amberly said, huffily.

"Wow, sure seemed like it," you muttered.

"Girls," Kit said, frowning.

Amberly hurmphed, and then looked away - her cheeks flushed...and for a moment, there was a flicker of shame that crossed her face. It was an emotion you knew well. It was almost the only emotion you could easily spot on faces. You'd seen it often enough in the creche, when someone hadn't been acclimating to their masks and, rather than asking their fitters to adjust them, had instead tried to take them off. Oh yeah. You knew that look easily. You narrowed your eyes at her behind your mask - but Kit remained focused.

"Can we take them in a straight fight, with us tipping the balance?" he asked.

"Yes," Amberly said, with utter certainty. "Us and the stormtroopers I think make it even enough that if we attacked with valor and skill, we could rout these fiends."

You frowned.

The answer...seemed obvious...

[X] Attack with Amberly's plan (she has War 5, she'll have a good plan.)

I think there is a secondary advantage to this was well, it shows we trust her to make the plan and follow it. All other issues aside she is a Circle Mate. We either become good friends or we will be dreadful enemies, there usually isn't much of an in between and imperial culture does not help with that.
