The Winds and the Mage

[x] the Bursar, in his Lord Magister's livery.

We are the socialite, but aren't so great at the skullduggery. You know what would make us better at skullduggery? Knowing the ins and outs of the finances of the college.

As for voting on spells:
[x] Aethyric Armour
[x] Blessed Weapon
[x] Dispel
[x] Move

We're ready to scrap at a moment's notice, we can interfere with enemy spellcasting and pre-cast magics, and telekinesis is just plain an incredibly useful and versatile thing to have on hand. Especially since it lets us shove at short range, which is notably longer than touch range and means we can totally kick someone in the back of the knee as we run up to them. This is necessary, as we are smol and noodly and thus need every advantage when it comes to sticking Blessed weapons into the face holes of our enemies

For the first vote, I don't see what the benefit of the moustache guy is. The other three all have things to recommend them (the first is closer to a peer, the third is most powerful, and the bursar is, of course, politically relevant), but the moustache guy just seems meh to me.

Yeah, this seems right. None of the utility spells other than move are essential in the short run, but the combat spells might save our life.

Isn't it obvious?

His magnificent moustache.

I'll let you guys speculate on the pros and cons of every master options until at least the end of the moratorium (probably a bit more, Family dinner soon)

Well my immediate assumption is that with the missing arm and fresh wound, this guy knows how to throw down and survive in a way someone firing from over the horizon doesn't.

Weird old lady supremacy
[] Skywalk
Gotta get discount flight gotta get close to the stars
[] Aethyric Armour
Always nice to not die in one hit
Not especially sold on Bless Weapon but otherwise open on our other 2 spells

[] Aethyric Armour
[] Blessed Weapon
[] Dispel
are all frankly must take. They are just incredibly vital to the role of just surviving, especially the armour.
[] Move
[] Magic Alarm
both are very useful.

I am in favor of either of these masters. Both are powerful magisters; one is a lord magister, so they will be about the best teachers for magic possible. I expect they have different agendas, although I am unsure what they would be.

We are not exactly a combat build, i think only one combat oriented spell is enough for starting.

I mean...Aethyric Armor is the only combative spell on that list. Dispel is useful in all sorts of contexts. The argument for Bless Weapon as well is that it might save our lives...we're eventually learning all of these, so the question is which to grab first, and grabbing the one that might keep us alive is defensible, but I agree that we probably won't get huge amounts of use out of Bless Weapon.

Given that we aren't setting out alone, and will instead be traveling* with an experienced wizard I'm not super stressed about starting with the best spells for combat or even general utility. Skywalk is my number one pick because it's fun

*I'm assuming at least some of the Bursar's duties require his presence at the college, so maybe less travelling

If she's good enough to be teaching already she's probably a magic min-maxer, just like casandora. That will probably let her teach her better.

[X] Dispel: Allows you to attempt to Dispel an ongoing spell within short range. Cannot be used to try to banish demons or unbind the undead.
[X] Aethyric Armour: Magic wraps around you and acts as armor, with effectiveness based on your mastery of magic.
[X] Blessed Weapon: For the next hour, the weapon this is cast upon will count as magical for the purposes of damaging creatures resistant to mundane weapons, such as ghosts.
[X] Skywalk: Allows you to walk on air for a few seconds, enough to cover about twenty meters at a run.

She uses her staff as a cane, visibly putting her weight on it as she walks. You check, but no -even when you are trying your best to not use your magesight, her eyes are still pits of lightning.

[X] Dispel: Allows you to attempt to Dispel an ongoing spell within short range. Cannot be used to try to banish demons or unbind the undead.
[X] Move: You can move unsecured light objects around at medium range, and force equivalent to a shove at short range.
[X] Silence: Makes someone unable to speak for a few seconds at short range. Interrupts spellcasting.

[X] Dispel: Allows you to attempt to Dispel an ongoing spell within short range. Cannot be used to try to banish demons or unbind the undead.
[X] Magic Lock: Enchants a lock or bolt you touch to be impossible to pick or force open.

For people voting for Bless Weapon but not Aethyric Armor, may I suggest a swap? If we're only going for one combat spell, the one that keeps us alive seems like the one to go with to me.

Yes, lack of magic weapon hurts.
But then i'd rather we rely on skywalk and leg it until we learn some ranged magic.

Dispel is a really important spell, true, but we have magic 1. there aren't a lot of spells we can actually affect with it, most likely. I'd rather grab something that isn't prone to fail more often than it succeeds. otherwise, Aethryc armor is probably a must, but I don't see doing a ton of fighting,so Id rather take the more fun stuff like Skywalk, rather then lots of combat spells.

Mustache guy seems like he might be a former battle magister? probably had a lot to teach about fighting. but we are not martially inclined.
