Been busier than usual lately-ish. Sorry for the lack of news and the relapse into a bad posting schedule, but something about this chapter has been really hard to put down, and whenever I sit down for the character list informational threadmark my brain just empties out. Maybe I've just got bad at summarizing things.
Either way, the Character List will be posted sooner than later. The chapter may end up being broken up, because, looking at the notes again, and what I've written, it'll probably end up pretty long and even if it doesn't it will be pretty dense. Maybe having a few shorter chapters to put out more rapidly will help with both the schedule and motivation, especially because the upcoming volume should move more quickly than this one. Depending on your choices, the this volume could wrap up pretty quickly actually.
Edit: Actually a good bit of the list of characters has been tackled, it may be posted in an incomplete state or finished this week.
Junichi either slept through the Hollow attack on his house or was otherwise distracted (either is possible, since he isn't spiritually aware), and only learned of the attack in the morning, after Mai and Kori Kagami somehow altered his family (sans Chiyu)'s memories. What he thinks was a freak automobile accident didn't change his pace however, and he remains as busy as ever. Had a memorable outing with Chiyu and the twins to the aquarium, which Chiyu will probably never live down.
A bit of a goof, though well meaning and an attentive father (when not pulling long hours to support his family), Chiyu's dad isn't what one would expect out of a respected surgeon, which means he isn't invited to many conferences or talks, though he prefers it that way, since it keeps him close to his family. He's closest with Natsu and Tousuke, since they're the youngest, though both Chiyu and Soichiro share their own bonds with him, even if the latter is often absent. The only member of the Makiyou family without any spiritual awareness.
Appearance
Soichiro "So-bro" Makiyou
Chiyu's Older Brother/Delinquent/Student at Banmuro Preparatory High School
Not present the night of the Hollow attack on account of his tendency to stay out late in unexplained places for unexplained reasons, Soichiro did say he felt guilty about being there, but has also not changed anything about his routine since the attack. Told Chiyu that if she had anything she wanted to talk about, he would be there, but she's yet to take him up on this offer. At least as spiritually aware as Chiyu.
Despite his delinquent reputation (and matching grades), Soichiro is actually a pretty serious teen, especially when it comes to his family. Despite his reputation, the friends of his Chiyu knows are actually pretty nice and share his more serious attitude, though they also share his grades. When present he's a: loving and thoughtful older brother to Natsu; a teasing but supportive older brother to Tousuke; and someone for Chiyu to (good-naturedly) verbally spar with, though they were closer before he entered high school.
Appearance
Natsu Makiyou
Chiyu's Younger Sister/Student at Banmuro South Elementary/Unofficial Homemaker
Plot
Natsu tries her best (and, more often than not, succeeds) at balancing her life as a kid and the running of the Makiyou household. She's the best (though not the only) cook in the house, as well as the one who insists on doing the majority of the chores, though this also means she's the one who doles out chores on the others. That's not to say Natsu is a taskmaster, or doesn't like doing what she does, rather she loves running the household and keeping busy as much as she can. The closest with dad, though she definitely shares a bond with the rest of her family. Almost spiritually unaware, she only see the outlines of Pluses and sometimes hear them.
Appearance
Tousuke Makiyou
Chiyu's Younger Brother/Student at Banmuro South Elementary
Plot
The youngest Makiyou sibling (by less than an hour), Tousuke seemingly does his best to be the least conspicuous of the family. It's not like he doesn't have friends or isn't popular or doesn't do anything though, as he actually does, is, and is part of two clubs, rather he does his best not to stand out; running with a more "normal" crowd than Chiyu or Soichiro, and going out (or staying in and playing online games) more than Natsu does. Still pulls his weight at home, though much like his older sister he's not normally allowed near the stove. He won't say it, but he does think Chiyu is pretty cool. Mildly spiritually aware, can see and interact with ghosts.
Appearance
Riko Makiyou
Chiyu's Mother
Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop
Kori Kagami
(Mysterious) Owner and Proprietor of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop
After appearing to Mai in the aftermath of the Hollow attack that led to Chiyu getting powers, Kori Kagami took the depowered Soul Reaper under her wing, giving her a place to stay while forced to remain in a gigai while regaining her powers. She apparently watched Chiyu's early escapades as a Soul Reaper, displaying a strange amount of familiarity with the events between the first Hollow attack and the battle with Landlubber, when she first met Chiyu. Shortly after meeting the 'Deputy' Soul Reaper, Kori (with the (unwilling) help of the Hollow Sterlingback) was able to get Chiyu to restrain her own spiritual pressure to help Mai get her powers back; though this let the Mod Soul Aizo abscond with Chiyu's body. Since then, Kori Kagami has played a more active role in supporting Chiyu than just sitting back and watching, mostly by informing the girl how the world actually works and dealing with Hollows while the Chiyu is otherwise preoccupied.
Kori Kagami seems to revel in her own mysteriousness, or maybe she really is the sort of character you shouldn't associate with. Chiyu's still not sure, though her candidness regarding her 'using' of the 'Deputy' Soul Reaper, means that she's leaning on the side of Kori being more trustworthy than not, even if she might have unsavory connections she's not talking about. The owner and proprietor of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop does, at least, seem to have Banmuro Town's best interests at heart, and she's willing to shield both Chiyu and Mai from punishment from the Soul Society.
Kori is, typically of a shady character, of average height (158cm), build, and weight (49kg), with straight and rather shiny black hair which she keeps in a chin-tickling bob. Age isn't even a number for Soul Reapers, but appearance-wise she could really be anywhere from her late-20s to her mid-40s, and her typical outfit of a baggy button-down and pants, long coat, parasol and glasses, only serves to further obfuscate her true appearance.
Ui (just Ui)
Employee at Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop/Soul Reaper(?)
Ui first met Chiyu when the latter first went to Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop, and later helped capture the Hollow Kori used to test Chiyu as well as recapture Aizo. She later gave Chiyu advice regarding her unflappable boss.
Seemingly abrasive and seemingly completly passive at her job, Ui (no last name given), while somewhat brash, is also a seasoned Hollow hunter and at least an adept with kido and hakuda. For whatever reason, she has a chip on her shoulder regarding Soul Society and its nobility, having butted heads with Mai at least once. Despite her cavalier attitude regarding her job, Ui does seem to be very loyal to Kori Kagami.
Appearance
"Kuushou"
Strange Employee of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop
Helped in the search for Aizo when she first stole Chiyu's body.
One of the strange, silent, apparent children employed(?) by the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop. Possibly a Soul.
Tallest of the younger employees of Mirror-Mirror, pale with long brown hair pinned back, and vacant green eyes. Wears black sneakers, loose gray pants, and a black button-up with Mirror-Mirror's logo on the left side of the chest.
"Gafuko"
Strange Employee of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop
Helped in the search for Aizo when she first stole Chiyu's body.
One of the strange, silent, apparent children employed(?) by the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop. Possibly a Soul.
Shortest and thinnest of the younger employees of Mirror-Mirror, has short blonde hair and almost-empty reddish eyes. Wears black sneakers, loose gray pants, and a black button-up with Mirror-Mirror's logo on the left side of the chest.
"Heiyamaru"
Strage Employee of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop
Helped in the search for Aizo when she first stole Chiyu's body.
One of the strange, silent, apparent children employed(?) by the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop. Possibly a Soul.
Short, the heaviest of Mirror-Mirror's younger employees, has short brown hair and eyes the same shade, his default expression is a frown. Wears black sneakers, loose gray pants, and a black button-up with Mirror-Mirror's logo on the left side of the chest.
Kanawanatake Middle School
Mio Abayumi
One of Chiyu's Best Friends/Student at Kanawanatake Middle School
Plot
Bubbly and a bit of a trouble-maker, Mio is the most talkative of Chiyu's friend group, a fact that often gets her in trouble at (and occasionally out of) school. Not as much of a ringleader as a driver when it comes to motivating the or leading the group, but does come up with her fair share of ideas. Spends a lot of time online when she's not in school or with her friends.
Shorter and slightly tanner than Chiyu, with long, straight black hair and mischevious black eyes, has 'distinctive' eyebrows. Rather sedentary when outside of school, she's also less fit than Chiyu or Ryota, though not unfit. Tends to dress for leisure (sweatpants, hoodies, skirts, sometimes dresses) more than her sportier friends would; wears thick-framed glasses (she's scared of contacts).
Naoto "Nao" Kuritachi
One of Chiyu's Best Friends/Student at Kanawanatake Middle School
Plot
Though he's usually the quietest, maintains the best grades, and keeps the lowest profile in school; Nao is, in fact, the funniest and most devious member of the group. Not that anyone he doesn't want to know that would know that, he plays things pretty close to the chest. Nao is also a gamer through-and-through, though he's not quite as much of a techie as Mio.
About the same height as Chiyu, the palest member of the group on account of being a bit of a shut-in when not in school or with his friends, still on the thinner side because he doesn't know how to feed himself; his hair is black and on the longer side and his eyes are lighter brown. Dresses like something of a stereotypical nerd, favoring t-shirts or polos and cargo shorts in warmer weather, or sweatpants or jeans and pullover hoodies in cooler weather. Not scared of contacts.
Ryota "Ryo" Heiondo
One of Chiyu's Best Friends/Student at Kanawanatake Middle School
The only one of Chiyu's friends to know about her being a Soul Reaper.
The most active (Chiyu's Soul Reaper activities notwithstanding) and outspoken of his friend group, Ryo is probably the one with the most energy, and the one who comes up with the most ideas. Not that they're always good ideas, but that's why he has a group of friends like his surrounding him. Surprisingly thoughtful and understanding, when he wants to be (possibly has the highest capacity for kindness, though his capacity for mischief is just as high).
The tallest member of Chiyu's friend group and (before Chiyu became a Soul Reaper at least) the fittest, Nao is tan with shaggy medium-brown hair and dark blue eyes. Usually wears workout clothes like (properly-sized) t-shirts/tanks, sweat/gymshorts, and the newest sneakers he can get his hands on. Would probably be popular, if it wasn't for his sense of humor and penchant for pranks.
Eidou Iwaba
Class Rep of Kanawanatake Middle School Class 2C/Quincy
Eidou was always suspicious of Mai thanks to his spiritual power making the memory alteration Mai used to enter the school's faculty, but his initial theory was that she was a handler sent for Chiyu by the Soul Society. This theory was, of course, proven wrong when the Quincy twins actually confronted the Soul Reaper duo, but making a connection with someone from Soul Society was seemingly worth being wrong. What probably wasn't worth the trouble was the disastrous first Hollow hunt the Quincies went on with Chiyu; or the second, for that matter. Had to be rescued from the Hollow Projecc-Taur by Chiyu and Noringrad.
Intelligent and confident to the point of being annoying, Eidou Iwaba is the very picture of a teacher's pet and a class rep. How he makes time to be such a model student while spending his nights slaying Hollows. Speaking of Hollow slaying, Eidou is more of a front-line fighter than Tenko is (insofar as either can be called front-line fighters), being better with hirenkyaku and archery.
Appearance
Tenko Iwaba
Student at Kanawanatake Middle School/Quincy
Tenko was always suspicious of Mai thanks to her spiritual power making the memory alteration Mai used to enter the school's facility, but she was less confident in her brother's theory than he was. Still, the revelation that Chiyu had been given Mai's powers was a surprise to both Quincy. The first two times the Iwaba twins went Hollows hunting with their new Soul Reaper ally were rather eventful, for all the wrong reasons. Had to be bailed out by Chiyu and her cousin Noringrad after being tricked by the Hollows Pack-Bat and Projecc-Taur.
Less of a perfectionist than her brother, Tenko is still a more-than-model student, but is a bit more humble than her brother, even if that just means she's less outgoing. Her ability to maintain her status as one of the school's top students while fulfilling her role as a Quincy is somewhat of a mystery, especially considering all the extra work and duties she takes on. The ginto specialist of the duo comprised of herself and Eidou.

Chiyu's Homeroom Teacher at Kanawanatake Middle School

Aizo
Mod Soul/Chiyu's (quite literal) Body Double
Initially presented to Chiyu as a normal Artificial Soul, Aizo almost instantly proved that she wasn't, stealing human girl's body and leading her, Mai, and the staff of the Mirror-Mirror Specialty Shop on a wild goose chase through Banmuro Town before being caught by a pair of Hollows, and, bizarrely, one of Soichiro's friends, who knew more than he should have about the existence of Hollows and the Soul Society. After accepting Aizo, not wanting to see her experimented on and destroyed, Chiyu obtained a stuffed penguin to serve as a body for her, allowing the mod soul some autonomy when Chiyu wasn't in her Soul Form. Also guilt-tripped Chiyu into spending more time with her family.
Crass, bold, and seemingly streetwise despite spending the vast majority of her existence as a pill, Aizo speaks and acts almost nothing like Chiyu, though after some coaching she was able to imitate the human girl well enough to pass to her friends and family, though not without some... awkwardness. Is (somewhat understandably) scared of Kori Kagami and, likewise, doesn't want her existence being made known to Soul Society either.
Appearance
Noringrad "Iwaba"
Quincy/New Arrival in Banmuro Town
Eidou and Tenko's older "cousin" who arrived in Banmuro Town after the twins' ill-fated first Hollow hunt with Chiyu. Destroyed the Hollow Packbat before Chiyu could fight it before getting in a scrap with Chiyu herself, then helping her defeat Projecc-Taur.
Noringrad is a thrill-seeker and, by her own admission, a fully-trained Quincy, meaning she might be the most experienced Hollow hunter Chiyu knows. It's not like Ui or Kori Kagami are talking about their experience though. It's possible this thrill-seeking attitude may go a bit too far though, as indicated by her attacking Chiyu when they first met to test the 'Deputy' Soul Reaper's strength. She's less uptight than either of the Iwaba twins, but her cavalier attitude may just get her into even more trouble.
Appearance
Eiji Iida
Soichiro's Friend/Delinquent/Student at Banmuro Preparatory High School/Hollow Hunter(?)
Saved Aizo from a Hollow after she stole Chiyu's body before confronting Ui when the latter came to retrieve the Mod Soul. Knows about Hollows and Soul Society.

Soul Society
Mai Koukin
Depowered Soul Reaper/Teacher's Assistant at Kanawanatake Middle School
Mai transferred her powers to Chiyu the night the two of them met to save the human girl's family, before appearing at Kanawanatake Middle School as a Teacher's Assistant. Since then, Mai has accompanied Chiyu as she took on the duties of the depowered Soul Reaper, slaying Hollows, including several which had been active for decades, before they became aware of the human girl's powers slowly eroding Mai's (borrowed) zanpakuto. After meeting with Kori Kagami regarding this, Chiyu agreed to seal her own spiritual pressure so that Mai would regain her powers more quickly. Mai regained some of her powers after Chiyu limited herself, though they still remain extremely weak for a Seated Officer.
Despite her bluster when faced with Chiyu on the night she gave the human girl her powers, and her (alleged) status of "near-royalty" in the Soul Society, Mai Koukin is incredibly self-conscious and unsure of herself. Why that is, she hasn't said, and she probably won't, given her penchant for being tongue tied. Still, despite her nervous disposition, Mai is capable of courage exceeding the expectations of an officer of her station, and is an exceedingly loyal friend. This may come from a lack of friends in Soul Society, though, again, she likely won't address this subject.
Mai is rather short (148cm), and light (37kg) for her apparent age (roughly college aged, though she passes as a Teacher's Assistant), with wavy, mid-back length honey-brown hair layered rather stylishly and always worn down; and warm amber eyes. Tends to dress practically, though fashionably, though not expensively. Wears a standard shihakusho in her Soul Reaper form.
This is still a WIP, but the important stuff is there. More characters will be as they appear and it will appear after the character sheet in the seating. Actual chapter should be out after Bone and Blood, depending on how IRL goes this week.
Things aren't going great, sorry that's reflected on the quest. Haven't had a lot of time to work on (re)writing the next chapter but progress is happening now. Sorry to not have good news, but that's just how it is.
So this probably isn't the news you want to hear if you've been waiting for the next chapter, but between the various real-life delays, less serious quest-related matters, and just my own at-times mercurial drive, after a lot of thought, I've made the decision to shelve this quest. This wasn't lightly made, but with the reflection and time off, along with getting back into questing in general, I've started to think that the approach wasn't quite right. There is a silver lining, though this is the end for A Pure Sword, A Pure Soul, I do want to come back to Bleach and this AU in particular, so in the next couple of days I'm going to post a vote/poll gauging interest on when/what people want to see out of a quest in this setting.
Thanks for sticking with the quest if you read it, and if you just saw it because of this post and caught up only to see this, thanks for enjoying. Either way thanks again for reading, and I hope you'll share your opinion when I post the vote and follow my next venture.
I'm sad to see this go, but I do agree something about this quest always seemed kinda off execution wise. then again I can't really put my finger on what that was so my opinion probably shouldn't be taken that seriously.
Thanks for everything you've written. Most quests don't even get this far. I can't really comment on anything in particular being off about it. Going to take a shot in the dark here, but maybe the scenario being a little too close a copy of kurosaki ichigo's story stifled creativity a little. Maybe experiment a bit with cast and group dynamic a bit.
I'd definitely be interested in round 2 if you decide you want to start one. Quests don't get enough second chances in my opinion.
What has become known as the Extermination War, a decades-long conflict between the rapidly dwindling Quincy and the ascendant Soul Society is in its closing days, while at the same time the deadliest war in history rages in the World of the Living. It is, perhaps, the best time to be a Hollow since the foundation of the Gotei 13, as the mountains of corpses of the living give rise to waves of souls that the Shinigami are unable to quickly purify, and the bodies of fallen Quincy and Shinigami, typically a rare prize, have become common fodder. It is in this world you first awoke from the fugue state of Gillian-hood, shedding the transitory cloak of the weakest Menos and reentering the domain of Hollows stronger than even the greatest base Hollows could dream, but now at the bottom of the food chain of the Adjuchas.
[] Modern Hollow:
Tales of the Hunters in White spread, as most things do through Hueco Mundo, slowly. The fearful whispers of lowly base Hollows meant little and less to the Adjuchas you were encamped with. Whether it was temporary or long-term matters little now, as the tales were true, and the Hunters were more terrible than even the worst rumors made them out to be. For they weren't the destruction monks of old, but elusive Arrancars, Hollows who have shed their mask in an attempt to regain their humanity. These Arrancar succeeded in this endeavor, and offered to extend that gift to those they deemed worthy. You are the only survivor of the massacre, your mask broken and your body changed by the strange orb the Hunters brought with them, cast into the desert alone with only the vague direction of the Hunters' city to guide you.
Shinigami
[] Past Shinigami:
The Extermination War is, apparently, a far cry from the Blood War of nearly a millennium ago, but for a young Shinigami it still seems cataclysmic. The forces of Soul Society and the Quincy Neu Lichtreich battle in the World of the Living, with the Quincy being forced back to their last strongholds among the mountains of East Asia. Between the massive war engulfing that part of the World of the Living, the Lichtreich's final, desperate defense, and the increasingly powerful Hollows that congregate around the battlefields, Shinigami of all ranks have been falling in greater and greater numbers. Perhaps some would consider it dishonorable for one's career to be buoyed by such circumstances, but you can't help your rapid rise through the ranks, capable Shinigami are needed now more than ever.
[] Modern Shinigami:
After the chaos of the late 19th and early 20th century, Soul Society has entered a period of relative peace and, under the new Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, reform. Still, the composition of the Squads themselves remains constantly shifting and changing, as filling the upper echelons of the Gotei is a long process, given the gap between the rank and file and those at the top. You managed to work your way into the spot of an Upper Seated Officer in the Squads through a combination of natural talent and hard work. Now, you have the opportunity to go even further, though that means stepping out of the Squad you've spent your career as a part of, and some say they see dark clouds gathering on the horizon.
[] Current Shinigami:
Soul Society has been stable and ascendant for nearly a hundred years, and its ranks have seen little change in the past quarter century, but strange occurrences have been happening in the World of the Living and Rukongai. No Shinigami has yet been lost to these, save the typical losses to Hollows, and Hueco Mundo remains as silent as ever. Yet many of Gotei 13's regular patrols come back from routine missions citing stronger Hollows or a lack of Hollows at all, which is only notable because they mention the same strange feeling of unease that comes over them, either as individuals or groups. As an Upper Seated Officer in the Gotei 13, you've been tasked with an investigation. Into what? Nobody knows.
Quincy
[] The title of "The Last Quincy" sounds cool in concept, but you could never claim it for yourself. For starters, there are more than ten Echt Quincy left alive, not many more than ten, and there are still less than fifty, but calling yourself the last of those would be in poor taste. Secondly, with the Quincy's naturally low birthrate and short lifespans, it would bring light to the fact that someday, probably in the near future, there will be a true Last Quincy. Low numbers aside, you are still the most badass Quincy alive, an appellation you gained (gave yourself) before you hit seventeen. Now, you're on your way to the Angereichert Geisterzone, the location in the World of the Living with the highest concentration of Hollows and reishi, and where the next up-and-coming novice Quincy are.
Fullbringer
[] Fullbringers have always been rare, and have almost never congregated in more than pairs, so the fact that more than a dozen are card-carrying members of a secret group that hosts regular meetings is astounding. Naturally, you knew none of this before being recruited, and are still ignorant as to the true nature of the world. Still, young Fullbringers are encouraged to stick together, and that's allowed you to form a bond with the small team you've become a member of.
Hollow
Info: Starting in 1861 during the overlapping Taiping Rebellion, American Civil War, and the Quincy-Shinigami Extermination War. Longest timescale, with probably the most timeskips. Likely somewhat extensive chargen.
Meta: I feel like Hollow quests are the most common Bleach quests, but it's understandable considering that they're the race/faction with the most freedom, even as Arrancars. While the Taiping Rebellion (yes, it's that) has been a backdrop I considered for a Soul Reaper story, it being the starting point for a Hollow story was an idea that grew on me as I germinated these pitches. Though going from the over-structured nature of Pure Sword to an idea with little direction to start off with might require more prep time and finding its footing than the other ideas, it still has a lot of possibilities. I know players do like to work their way up from the bottom, so if you'd rather a basic Hollow quest, let me know, but I feel like the base Hollow and Gillian sections would be retreading a lot of ground.
Arrancar
Info: Starts in 1991. Very little timeskipping, probably the darkest in tone, at least with the very beginning of the Hollow pitch aside. Little interaction with existing characters (ones I came up with, not canon ones), but likely a decently sized revolving cast of Hollows until the MC would reach Las Noches, where it would become more character driven and even delve into the mythical city's internal politics. Some chargen, more than the Soul Reapers but less than the Hollow.
Meta: The one with the absolute least amount of meta-knowledge possible given how little we really know about the nature of Arrancars and how zero information on them exists in Pure Sword. This would be more guided than the Hollow option but with an interesting starting position, especially given the only direction the MC would be given at the beginning. It wouldn't be too guided, but the scope would certainly widen and narrow as the story went on.
Shinigami
Past:
Info: Same starting year and circumstances as the Hollow pitch, though it would spend more time wrapping up the Quincy War. Likely a bunch of time jumps, but with vignettes during them. Some chargen.
Meta: Initially this was the one I found most interesting, and I almost ran it instead of Pure Sword before figuring that a Substitute Soul Reaper quest would be more novel than a regular Soul Reaper quest. While it's set in the "history" of the AU, nothing would be really set in stone, aside from things that the MC would have no ability to change, or things that had been set in motion previously.
Modern:
Info: Starts in 1988, would see the MC as a Fourth-Sixth Seat in a player-determined Squad about to get a new superior but also being offered a promotion in up to three different Squads, which better fit the MC but which they would be reluctant to go to. Some chargen, about the same as the past Soul Reaper pitch.
Meta: Honestly I came up with this pitch sort of arbitrarily, but filling in the gap that is the 20th century in this AU became a more and more interesting prospect to me as I thought about it. If you think it would be more interesting to be set closer to WWII, when the ranks of the Gotei 13 were a bit thinner in the aftermath of the Hollow boom that would've taken place during the war, let me know, but the 80s and 90s are a bit of a more mellow time with more of a mystery vibe and more characters to interact with.
Current:
Info: Starts in the 2010s. Basically just the Chiyu story from a different angle, but including some of the preamble to that that wasn't seen on screen. More chargen than the other Soul Reaper pitches.
Meta: Not sure where the MC would slot into Soul Society, would have a decent amount of chargen and possibly even user-submitted characters. This was also a possibility instead of Pure Sword, but not one I've given a lot of thought in quite some time.
Quincy
Info: Starts shortly after Pure Sword started, something of a sequel/fix to Pure Sword. No prior knowledge would be required though. No chargen/very little for determining skills/loadout.
Meta: Yes, the MC would be Noringrad from the latest chapter of this quest. She's a character I've had in mind for a while and I like writing her, though I'm not sure how I'd go about writing her POV for an entire quest and, in all honesty, I'm wouldn't be super jazzed about writing a Quincy Quest, but if I did I would want it to be her POV. I don't particularly like any of the Sternritter or the Wandenreich as a whole, so even with adjustments I wouldn't do a quest set under either of their equivalents in this AU. If you have a really, really good pitch/argument for a different Quincy POV I'm willing to hear it.
Fullbringer
Info: Similar start to Pure Sword, maybe a few years before. Would intersect with Pure Sword, though you wouldn't need prior knowledge. Some chargen, about as much as the Soul Reaper pitches, not sure which one though.
Meta: Honestly I have little idea how this would go, which is probably a bad thing. Vote for this if you want but it needs a ton of workshopping. Also if this is something you do want to see consider that I take nothing from the novels about Fullbring as canon.

Some of these are a lot less likely than the others, I just wanted to give every possible option and give people a chance to voice their opinions.

You don't really ever see a lot of Quincy or Fullbringer quests so seeing one would be really cool. The Quincy would have the a dying race vibe which is an interesting concept. And the Fullbringer is cool since it's a regular person slowly becoming aware of the supernatural which is cool.

These 3 seem interesting, though the Quincy quest is the one I find most interesting.
Seeing Old Man Genocide live up to the name is always fun, I also like to see the dichotomy that fits between the sometimes fun stuff we get in bleach with the darkness of the Gotei being the kind of organization that can, will, and has, wiped entire cultures off the map.
[X] The title of "The Last Quincy" sounds cool in concept, but you could never claim it for yourself.

[X] Fullbringers have always been rare, and have almost never congregated in more than pairs, so the fact that more than a dozen are card-carrying members of a secret group that hosts regular meetings is astounding. Naturally, you knew none of this before being recruited, and are still ignorant as to the true nature of the world. Still, young Fullbringers are encouraged to stick together, and that's allowed you to form a bond with the small team you've become a member of.
To everyone who voted, thank you! It was nice to see everyone's opinions and get some feedback. Based on the votes you can expect to see a Shinigami story set in the 19th century, though when exactly it would start running is still up in the air. Possibly with the third cour of the anime, but possibly earlier, depending on certain factors.
Voting is closed, but any other suggestions/opinions/feedback you have feel free to post here.
