Thinking about it that single wealth and holy book does not seem to be worth it. Looking more honest to the Verenans might get us something, even if there is nothing in their scriptures (or Morr's for that matter) about looting an enemy you just killed in battle. It's breaking into tombs that Morr cares about, disturbing the dead.

A sword with scales for a hilt hovers above the open doorway of Wolfenburg's temple of Verena, the holy symbol of Her cult a sign to those seeking justice and wisdom that such found through these very doors. A river of people pour in and out of the temple as they seek the services it provides in every day life or as a part of the natural flow that accompanies such a temple for they are a beating heart to the legal system of the Empire.
You groan a little, your hand reaching for your injured shoulder as you for a moment forget the injury leaving it... Slightly impaired. Scowling and more careful of your own wounds, you press into the crowd and are soon swept into the lobby of the temple where people split off into tens of little streams heading in nearly every direction.
Rows of desks dominate the space to one side, white robed priests attending to the legal needs of the people at large sitting prominently behind them.
Dozens of doors line another through which a much smaller crowd passes bearing piles of scrolls, stacks of documents, bags, chests, and far far more.
At the far end two staircases wind up around a statue of Verena herself ending in doors upon which the visage of owls can be seen even from this distance.
You naturally step into the shortest line you can find for the desks on the left and begin your potentially long wait.
...
"Next."
You feel a surge of relief at the voice calling you forward, the stooped figure of a priest focused on the document before him waving you forward as you take the seat across from them. A sense of anxiety should be gnawing at the back of your mind. Some tension or fear over the words you're about to speak...
"I am here to report an Unbaraki and Necromancer," Your words are steady and confident as the priest's head snaps up to stare at you, grey eyes and impassive expression turning stern as the quill in their hand is quickly set aside.
"False reports of treason, witchcraft, and dark magic are punishable by death. Do you have any proof?"
A monotone voice calls back only for you to pull your shirt aside and reveal the grey, withered flesh underneath.
"I have this injury," You watch him for a moment as the stern glare softens only a little before continuing, "And their corpse."
Placed between the two of you is an uneven scale weighed down on one side by a metal weight. It balances itself as you speak, a faint white light radiating from the weight.
Slowly the priest takes the weight from the scale and rises from his seat.
"If you would follow me, Miss."
...
An hour later you arrive at your home with a trio of white robed priests and five soldiers in tow. You watch the one you reported this all too wave his hand sending the soldiers to close off the street in front of your workshop before turning to you, "Sister Elma will confirm the truth of the matter if you would show us the corpse."
"Ai."
You lead them inside only to be stopped a few feet into the room, "And what is it you do here?"
A voice you can only describe as literally heavy stops you in your tracks. A harsh glare seems to burrow into the back of your head though you can't tell from who as you find yourself struggling to move, "Create and invent. Guns, soap..."
You trail off for a moment as your eyes jump to the aeolipile resting quietly at the heart of your workshop, "Some day even steam engines."
"... Like those in Steam Tanks?"
A soft voice cuts in as the force seemingly holding you in place fades away, not that you care much about that when someone has expressed interest in the glory of steam, and you whip around with a gleam in your eye. Nodding, you gesture towards the aeolipile, "Precisely like them! I've even made a little progress with this device where it can spin the upper sphere with steam made fr-"
You're cut off by the sound of the first priest clearing his throat.
"Miss. The Necromancer, please."
A bit of heat reaches your face as you sheepishly nod and lead them further to the back of the smelter. As you reach down to pull open the hidden hatch you give the best explanation one could, "I bought the place from the Dawi."
Skeptical and suspicious looks ease with those few words.
...
Several minutes later the body of the fallen priests is laid neatly out in the center of your workshop as Sister Elma performs an extensive search of the body all while muttering to herself. Your eyes follow her hands as checks not just pockets and shoes but even goes as far as to shove her fingers into the deceased's mou-
"Explain the events leading up to, during, and after the killing."
Your focus snaps back to the priest who had questioned your work here. Sharp blue eyes meet your own, a flash of light seemingly running through them as his hand tightens around the worn gavel at his waist.

Not exactly, just that it reacted in some way to the ghosts right before you started seeing them. It is pretty much inconsequential as a detail but as an unknown item I figured it should be up to y'all if you want to reveal details about it even relatively minor ones.
