The world once destroyed, now a world to be healed.

And our mythical heros, the chosen saviors, the seeds of a new humanity...were dropped into one monster free area, given a small population of humanity to coordinate, and instructed to create the worlds first Village. They did so, and more. And as the system challenged them, their area of influence grew, pushing back the walls of the time bubble for new people and resources.

But there are always monsters. Some, you will never see coming.

And you?

You are the child of The First Apprentice, who by now had made such a name a thing of the past. She is now a [Great Warrior-Philosopher].

Youre name is Hope Cray, and you are the daughter of the leader of the new world. You dont have fancy asperations of leading or being the perfect daughter or special princess in the new world...you are your own person! But, what path, what Class, will you take on?

Roughly thirty years ago, the Great Change happened. The Apocolypse. The End.

The Rebirth.

Thirty years ago, though most of the worlds citizens arent yet aware of it, everything came to a halt. Literally. The universe was under new management, one could say, and everything was swallowed up in a Time Bubble, a field created by The System to stop time, obviously, for the purpose of creating an easier transition for the world and its peoples to adapt to its changes.

Then, The System randomly selected one singular individual to become The First Apprentice. This person was sent to a world which had fully adapted and matured under the rules of The System, and would certainly have much to teach. And ten years later, The System would select a grouping of people, friends, to embark on a journey of their own, where they would be guided by The First Apprentice. And once they had all chosen their Class, they would all be sent back to Earth to face their new destiny.

But Earth did not meerly return to normal. No, that just wouldnt be right. Instead, to fascilitate, neigh, *force* adaptation, pieces of the world were taken and swapped around to create a whole new geography. Monsters were summoned all across the surface, but were also stopped by the time bubble, to reek havok when the time was right.

She is now a [Great Warrior-Philosopher], but what will you become?

--------

Just to shorten character creation, lets do by plan

I say that we are a girl, but what will you add?

Choose a personality

[] Personality A: Peppy, bright, enthusiastic! Your life is great, most of the time, and you think the system is , generally, really cool. You think your mom and the Big 5 are awesome for helping to rebuild humanity and fight monsters!

[] Personality B: You grew up hearing about both the wonders and the tragedies of this new world. You think The System is an improvement over the capitalism dystopia your mother would tell you about, but you think its too harsh. Youre very aware the world is dangerous, so you intend to be thoughtful and cautious. Your eyes always seem to wander over to the horizon.

[] Personality C: The world as it was before doesnt really matter anymore. The last remnants of it were either trapped in a ticking timebomb of a hellscape, or were busy leading everyone to learn how to survive what The System has given you. You're the very pragmatic type that has decided to learn how the world works now, and help everyone prosper the best you can

[] Personality D: The world before the rebirth was such a strange place, but at the same time wonderful. The place you live now only seems to have minimum wildlife, but the nature books your mom would show you were full of creatures of endless types. It had no magic, yet everyones class now seems to be based off of old legends and things called movies and anime. The dichotomy has always fascinated you, and youre starting to believe that humanity can reach its potential by fusing together its past and present.

[] Personality E: You like to fight. You like to tease others and get in trouble. Despite your mothers best efforts, she does infact lead all of humanity (even though its only a couple of small villages) and doesnt spend as much time with you as either of you would like. You're a little bit out of control, but thats fine. Really. Just as long as it doesnt start to effect your Corruption Rating.

Who do you look up to?

[] Hero 1: Your mom. Your mom is very talented. She cooks, cleans, fights, philosophizes, runs the village, and even trains you occassionally. She's a real hero, you cant help but look up to her.

[] Hero 2: William, the [Monster Sculpter] : This is a man who can create items and weaponry out of monster parts. He is a deadly front line fighter, and clever craftsman. He doesnt say a lot, but you know what they say, actions speak louder than words. And you admire what you see.

[] Hero 3: Lily, the [Siren Arachne] : This is the second in command in terms of running the village. She can turn into a spider lady, or summon spiders, and lure monsters, animals, and even people into her webs. Luckily, she spends her time running the local spinster shop instead, and with her husband, William, keeps track of the supplies coming into town.

[] Hero 4 : Jack, the [Light Swordsman] : Not what you think, Jack fights with swords made of light, and his armor flashes and blinds his opponents. Strong fighter, very knight-like. Often teams up with William or Nicholas. He is the Big 5 that most children look up to.

[] Hero 5: Amelia the [Mystic Ninja] : She uses magic, and stealth attacks, and uses magic to enhance her stealth attacks. You have read a lot of books about this place called japan, and she embodies everything ninja! How cool is that?!

[] Hero 5 : Nicholas [REDACTED] : ...no one knows what his class is. He hasn't told anyone, and your mom has given up trying to get him to register in the village ledger. He's pretty cool though, always snarky, always ontop of things, always ready to take on The Raids.

[] Hero 6 : Your brother! He is a [Water Mage] and is out in the greater world, exploring and testing the limits the the Time Bubble so that he can take down monsters early on and report when something has opened up

[] Hero ...someone else!

Where do you live? Where did your mother settle?

[] Start: New Garden : A mango plantation on the edge of the tropical jungle. Obviously, you grow a lot of mangos. But you also hunt wild pigs and jungle fowl and grow a variety of berries and healing herbs. New Garden is situated to the south of the new world, and the walls of the time bubble prevent you from going deeper into the jungle. The theme here is 'growth'

[] Start: Farmville: In the middle of the map, amongst the wide grass lands of the new world, there is an old farmstead. It has an old farm house, a barn, several chickens, and a few horses that your village have painstakingly grown into a full herd. You grow old world crops like corn, tomatos, onions, cabbage, potatos, and wheat. You even have a few apple trees. but some of the villagers are looking into diversifying crops using The System The theme here is 'steady'

[] Start: Little Tokyo: To the West of the map, on the edge of a cliff...is that...tokyo tower? Sure is! As well as a few tour busses full of people. Times here are tough, but the people have adapted and thrived. You dont have many animals or crops, but birds are drawn to the tower and can be tamed or hunted, and the fields of grass have given seed that has been adapted into something new resembling wheat and rice. The Theme here is 'tradition'

[] Start: Fort-Town : To the furthest north of the map, is a collection of remnants of an urban city, new york perhaps? maybe chicago? They are unrecognisable, but have been deposited on the side of a massive mountain. Not much grows here, but you have olive trees and goats, and endless stone. You make do. People around here like their guns, obviously, and have been able to use and abuse the system to make, repair, and keep guns loaded for 'better hunting'. The theme here is... well.. 'guns'

Unfortunately, to the East is currently just a rocky outcropping and river, you can not choose that, you will see why.

Assuming humanity has expanded into a second town, what village got formed next?

[] Expansion: New Garden

[] Expansion: FarmVille

[] Expansion: Little Tokyo

[] Expansion: Fort-Town

[] Expansion: Into the East!

Choose a tamed monster for your town

[] Terror Bird : A large, flightless bird that is carnivoric, but also super loyal, and big enough to ride.

[] War Mule : breedable mule. extra sturdy. has blades on its side and sharp hooves. Herbivore.

[] Write in: create your own monster, nothing super fancy, these are not boss monsters

Choose a mine for your town

[] Salt

[] Gold

[] Iron

[] Sand

[] Stone

[] Coal

yes, a new quest, sorry
Authors note

I know I shouldnt be making a new quest. I know!

But I havent been able to sit down and write my other quests, and figure i should get *some* writing in, so here we are!

This quest idea is based off of a book I am attempting to write. Some names and abilities may or may not have been changed.

Definitions and Vocab
Reserved for definitions

Skills: something you are able to do, definied by being proficient enough at the task for The System to convert it into its mechanics. Powered and limited by Action points. You may only have a certain number of Skills, but you are able to sacrifice a skill that you dont want clogging up your options, or meld it into another skill. Skills may be taught, but change naturally due to the nature of the system, and the person learning it

Birth skill: a skill that you are assigned at birth, but is not accesable until you are 15. the skill is usually a weaker, more generic version of something one of your parents has at the time of your birth.

Mundane Skill: A nonmagical, system boosted skill that can be acquired at anytime, even in childhood. though it may not be accessed under the system until 15.

Class Skill: A skill that is on a higher tier than mundane skill, and is influenced by ones Class. For instance, a Fire Ball can become a Grave Wisp when learned by a Necromancer.

Village Skill : Another freebie skill, but one that you only get after you seek a Class from a Village Spirit. Village Skills are based off of the theme of the village you get your class in.

Paths : A series of quests, attained through various means and awarding various prizes, normally xp

Birth Path: A path given to you at birth. There does not seem to be any known reasoning behind what someone is assigned, and they do not have to follow it, but like any path, will give rewards.

Class: unlike most RPGs where a class may be a job or skill descriptor, Class may also include race, which will obviously change the physiology of the player. examples [Water Mage] [Dark Vampire] [Wolf Huntress]

Humanity: despite its name, this isnt about your physiological resemblance to being a human, it is the counter point to your Corruption rating

Corruption: A force of unknowable dark energy which may build up in players who break the rules or act inhumane. Corruption is directly opposite to ones Humanity, and is difficult to lower. Once one reaches 10 Corruption, they cease to be a player and become a Monster

Boss: A higher level monster that is summoned into the world by The System, or is converted from a fully Corrupted player. Is often unique in nature.

Spawn: a lesser monster, spawned into the world to aid the Boss. very creative naming.

Village Spirit: a being created by The System with limited abilities to help foster the village it is created for. Most often shares the name of the village

Boon: an item or resource granted to a village at its start, based on the village theme

The New World
reserved for New World Map description

The start of a whole new world for the people of earth...was a small area on the side of a mountain. Some people of St. Paul, Minnesota were suddenly released from their time bubble, surrounded by chaos. A chunk of their city was next to a mountain! oh, also some part of it were torn assunder, on fire, and just in a generally horrible state. As can be expected, this was difficult for them to cope with, and many died.

Luckily, there was a flash of light, giving way to a group of mysterious magically imbued fighters looked upon the chaos, and went to work saving lives, and teaching them all about what was happening.

For fourteen days, the utilities St. Paul was used to were magically supported by The System, as fires were fought, rescues were made, and the dead were buried in a mass grave. Just outside the limits of the city remnants, the group of heros gathered, led by one woman, and created a new home under The System for all of humanity to gather under again.- A village named Fort-Town, and, spurned on by the trauma of those under her, who feared the monsters they told in their stories would bring them even more death, she would acquiesce to giving it the theme 'Guns'.

At the moment the new village was born, several 'cabins' were spawned into creation. They would be in the style of your classic cabin, but each one was made of a strange wood that seemed to be made of cold steel and sport a turret on top. The people were pleased, but this was only living space (and not enough for everyone), and not the Boon. For what The System would grant a human town with the theme of 'Guns' was... a large ammo press. Perhaps dishearteneing, if one were expecting to be given a wall full of fully loaded guns, but useful for the future.

The woman and her friends would thoroughly teach everyone how to develop their skills and make a class for themselves. There came many gunsmiths, sharpshooters, and hunters...but also a variety of scientists, alchemists, demolitionists, and beast tamers.

The nonfunctioning cars left to the from the old world were quickly scrapped, everything was recycled, even some of the rougher buildings and their materials were reclaimed.

A mine was started, as well as a bunker system within the mountain, and walls of mined stones were erected, for the woman told them about Raids, and how they could be wiped out by one, but that defeating it would not only guarantee safety for some time, but give rewards. And they were rewarded, indeed. Over the years, several Raids would occur, and in that time, the town received an expansion with more housing, lamp posts through the town, an iron mine, and a couple large loads of supplies.

In between raids, the people would continue to toil hard for subsistence. Goats were tamed, and from them the people got an easy source of meat, milk, and skins. Olive trees were discovered, and so there were olive oils, olive pastes, and dried olives made. grasses grew well enough to sustain the goats at the foot of the mountain, and around the village, so things were made of straw...things like bales, beds, compost, and rooves for those who couldnt find residence in the systems cabins. Farmers would farm either olives, or crops of whatever seed the system would give them. Hunters would hunt birds, or whatever roamed the fields outside of town. Usually monsters. And some monsters were even tamed! ...ok, only one group of spawn monsters were ever successfully tamed, but they were War Mules- tougher than earth mules, with the addition of steel weaponry, and they were even breedable.

And so, a caravan was created, a group of people who would occasionally stock up, and go out into the world to test their borders with the time bubble. Later on, they would also facilitate trade between different settlements.

It was only recently the bubble expanded enough that the caravan would find signs of more civilization, in the form of a large metal tower. Tokyo tower! There, they found several tour busses full of people, running away from monsters. But the people of Fort-Town were ready and well trained by now. The matter was handled, people were treated and set up in the tour busses and tents for temporary housing. A second village was established

Little Tokyo was established and populated by people who didn't want to forget the old world, and who didn't want to see Tokyo Tower reclaimed for nothing more than materials or an outpost. They chose the theme 'tradition', and received the boon of a dojo. The cabins the system gave them resemble log cabins, just as the ones in Fort-Town do. However, they are made of bamboo, their floors are made with compact straw, their doors were made of bamboo and paper, and they each would have a little figure hanging in the window, meant to deter negative energy.

It was a big change from the hyper aggressive build of Fort-town, but they would adjust. First, they would have a number of Classes that were farmers, carpenters, swordsmen, as well as arborists. They imported steel from Fort-town and made their own weaponry. They went with the caravan to the pine forest between the tower and fort-town, and brought back seeds. They took the grass and bred a new form of rice substitute, then again for wheat. The busses were rebuilt into decent residences, and a few even took residence in the tower itself, raising and utilizing the birds that would roost up there. So Little Tokyo became the base for all messenger bird services.

And eventually, they would receive a salt mine from the system, making preservation and cooking skills easier and more widespread. Soon, little tokyo became a hub for food, and just as an old farm house was discovered east from them, with vast grasslands inbetween.

The farmstead isn't populated by more than the grandson of an old couple that used to live there, and the occasional visitor that comes by to trade, or help with the workload. Things are tough for him, but there are chickens, horses and crops for him to look after. right now the one thing being traded already are eggs, as a high value item, as well as chicks.

Basic geography of the current map : Fort-town is at the base of a mountain, facing inland. On the other side of the mountain is a sheer drop. Coming off of the mountain is a river that winds off to the east, where access eventually gets cut off by the time bubble. It is said at the end of that stretch, the water begins to get unusually warm. Most of the starting area is grassland, filled with tall grasses, with an occassional patch of pine or spruce, and one patch of oak near to the farm, as well as an apple orchard there. The biggest patch of pine and spruce is along the edge of this plateau, between fort-town and little tokyo. Tokyo tower itself is very close to the edge of the plateau. At night, if one were to look down the edge of this plateau, they would see the light of a lava pool.

The weather patterns are unpredictable, with a lot of rain and occasional intense storms

Our main character starts neither speedy nor very bright. She is strong, with an average stamina. She, again, is not very smart. But she is highly charismatic, with an innate sense of when she is pushing her boundries. Her focus, clarity, and spirit are all above average, so it will be hard to deceive her with illusions, and she will have a decent gift for magic.

Interests: fighting, hunting, music

Relationships:

Mother: iffy. she loves you, but your tendency to pick fights, and the fact she blames herself for it stresses her out. You feel for her, and want to spend more time with her, but you also just kinda wanna do your own thing

Brother: You look up to him, but he doesnt come around a lot. He entertains your challenges whenever he comes home, and insists that border patrol is boring.

Father: You dont really know who your father is, your mother isnt very forthcoming

William: your favorite of the Big 5. He is a great fighter, and a great crafter. he makes cool things like weapons, shields, and decorative pieces.

Faith:
The daughter of William and your best friend. She's quiet and mostly keeps to herself. She admires your mom, but her cha stat is low, so she's probably afraid to ask to apprentice under her. You make a pretty good team though. You scare off her bullies, and she becomes your eyes around town. Sometimes you can even convince her to train with you. And of course, you trade the skinny on each others parents.

You're a little bit out of control, but thats fine. Really. Just as long as it doesnt start to effect your Corruption Rating.
-[+] Hero 2: William, the [Monster Sculpter] : This is a man who can create items and weaponry out of monster parts. He is a deadly front line fighter, and clever craftsman. He doesnt say a lot, but you know what they say, actions speak louder than words. And you admire what you see.
-[+] Weapon....something else!
-- [+] Write in Giant Horn that can bash and make music all at once
-[+] Age: 15-18 (Apprentice) You've had your big birthday and announced your intention to find someone to apprentice under
-- [+] Write in: Hunting
-[+] Kingdom Craft
-[+] Wave of Chaos
-[+] Start: Fort-Town : To the furthest north of the map, is a collection of remnants of an urban city, new york perhaps? maybe chicago? They are unrecognisable, but have been deposited on the side of a massive mountain. Not much grows here, but you have olive trees and goats, and endless stone. You make do. People around here like their guns, obviously, and have been able to use and abuse the system to make, repair, and keep guns loaded for 'better hunting'. The theme here is... well.. 'guns'
-[+] Expansion: Little Tokyo
-[+] War Mule : breedable mule. extra sturdy. has blades on its side and sharp hooves. Herbivore.
-[+] Iron

There we go ^^

Alrighty, A mountain village with an iron mine and some mules, sounds nice.

With some natural developments you dont know about yet :p

How about a roll? Or two?

first, ill roll for age. then i'll roll a bunch of stuff for stats

stats

Dex
str
con
int
wis
cha

all your usual suspects, plus Focus, Clarity, and Spirit

post-rolls outcomes:

The Main character is 17

Dex = 3
Str = 10
Con = 5
Int = 3
Wis = 11
Cha = 12
Foc = 9
Cla= 8
Spi = 7

What this means : Our main character is neither speedy nor very bright. She is strong, with an average stamina. She, again, is not very smart. But she is highly charismatic, with an innate sense of when she is pushing her boundries. Her focus, clarity, and spirit are all above average, so it will be hard to decieve her ith illusions, and she will have a decent gift for magic.

In hindsight, pretty good for a fighty type
Crawkid threw 2 3-faced dice. Reason: age Total: 5
2 2 3 3
Crawkid threw 1 4-faced dice. Reason: age (try again. oops! Total: 3
3 3
Crawkid threw 9 10-faced dice. Reason: stats (+2) Total: 52
2 2 8 8 4 4 1 1 9 9 10 10 7 7 6 6 5 5

Mechanics?
Mechanics

+ Humanity and Corruption are ratings that are on a sliding scale. If you have humanity 10, you have Corruption 0. If you have Corruption 3, you have Hmanity 7

If the character reaches Corruption 10, their part in this quest has ended!

+ Stats? For the moment, this is just an idea of where someone stands in their every day life.

Im considering the opposing rolling of d100s too

+ Classes? The ooc mechanics will have to be brought up later. For now, you and the character should know that Classes are as fluid as possible, with people being able to make up the name and some of the effect of said class. This will be important later. Classes also will come with things such as Passives, Class Attributes, and Special Knowledges

+ Leveling Skills? Skills may be levels through practice, but only up to level 3. At which point, they will be maxed, but may still become even greater if merged with another skill.

+ 'Learning Skills? You may learn skills a few different ways. You may train in the hopes of acquiring a specific Skill, or one related to your training. Or you may be taught directly from someone. The effects of being taught by someone may vary. For instance: If a martial artist teaches someone High Kick, since it is a Mundane Skill, they will learn High Kick or something directly related to the training for High Kick. If the [Martial Artist] attempts to teach Ki Blast to someone who is not a [Martial Artist], the student will learn a Skill similar to Ki Blast, but what they will learn will never be Ki Blast itself. Instead, what they will learn will be something lesser than that skill, and effected by their own class, or lack of one. A Classless might learn Focus Mana, a [Water Mage] might learn Create Water, a [Fire Mage] might learn Fire Ball, a [Harpy] might learn Feather Shed. All of these skills will be lesser than the original Ki Blast, but still be related to gathering/creating/ expelling a substance.

+ Merging Skills? While accessing ones stat screen, a player may decide to merge two skills together to create a newer, and often more powerful skill. This does require spending of an Action Point. Results naturally vary based on the skills being merged, but also whether the player is using the Meditation Skill, or a related one with similar effects.

+ 'Sacrificing' Skills? You may delete a skill to free up a skill slot or remove ones with undesirable mechanics, this does not require the spending of an Action Point.

+ 'Dissolving' Skills? You may 'dissolve' or split a merged skilled into its original components. This will result in the return of the base skills, but at level 1. This is regardless of the level of the original merged skills.

+ Action Points? A number of points granted to any individual player by the System. With very few exceptions, the spending of an action point is required for the use of a Skill under the System, or to merge Skills together, or to dissolve a merged skill. Action Points are *not* required to sacrifice/delete a skill.

+ Willpower? This is essentially something that you may spend for a bonus die during some rolls, such as combat or skill use.

Feel free to ask about mechanics at anytime, this list will probably grow

Bright New day
A Whole New World, A Whole New Game! (gamefic/litrpg based) Original - Mature - Fantasy

also check out the character and new world posts, as they have been updated

After some voting and some rolling, we got our world and our character...but now we need a starting point.

Your mother, The First Apprentice, the Mayoress of Fort-Town, the leader of the New World, and the village's [Great Warrior-Philosopher] is making breakfast. Its the usual rice and olive porridge, but this time she serves it with a boiled egg, sliced and lightly seasoned with salted spruce tips. As you sit down to eat, you see her making a batch of mayonnaise for later. Hm...fresh eggs. The caravan must have come in this morning.

What will you be doing this morning?

General Resources
Stone (and gravel, fine grit)
Goats (and goat milk, goat meat, goat bones, goat horns, goat skins, )
Olives (and olive oil, *olive 'grit')

* Olive Grit is made by grinding down the olive pit. It also releases oil, but instead of trying to extract the oil, people usually just add the grit to soap for extra exfoliation
Soap (made from goat milk and/or olive oil)
**Lye
Goat glue
Felt
Arachne Spider silk (and sewing thread, textiles, cloth armor, silk paper)
*** Monster Plate (and armor, weapons, tools)
(*4) Boom Powder (and flares, firecrackers)

** You may notice that there wont be much for trees to cut and burn to make good wood ash (pine trees dont make good lye, and oak will be limited)

But after some research i have come across two ideas. one idea is that the potassium in wood ash is essential to making lye. The other idea is that straw actually contains more potassium than wood. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/096195349500004Q

*** Monster Plate are flat slabs of monster material, often condensed into a purer and more stable form. Can be made of any material taken from a monster, with enough skill.

(*4) Boom Powder is an aptly named product made from Powder Alchemy, which acts similarly to black powder. It can be made at varying degrees of explosive power ranging from c4 to just enough to cauterize a wound. Boom Powder is crimson instead of black.

Iron (and steel)
