Peace in Our Time! - A TRO Inspired Franco-British Union Quest

[] Plan: Peace in Our Time
-[] The War has ended, now is the time for us to bury our dead and mourn, it would do us no good to keep our men within the armed forces. It is time to demobilise the military and let our sons return and rebuild their lives.

-[] Many will return from The War scarred both in body and in mind, forming a National Health Service for these brave men is the least we could do for them, their wives, and their children. But reality dictates that we try and limit expenditure, our nation is a generous one, churches and charities could take off some of the load, and employers would also be encouraged to partially pay for their employees' health and safety.

-[] Increase our food production by giving financial benefits to farmers and fishers that modernize their farms/fisheries or hire a certain number of new workers. Also encourage British and French corporations to open up new lands to agriculture in our African holdings through a mix of tax breaks and regulatory exemptions. Once food production is up, we can gradually ease the rationing.

-[] Establish a National Minimal Curriculum, to be coupled with the refurbishment of our schools and classrooms, and the opportunity for religious authorities to influence local curriculums and educational policy in exchange for access to their coffers. Of note within the curriculum is an education emphasizing the sciences, bilingualism, and the virtues of our empire.

-[] While we have fought valiantly in the Battle for Britain, the damage is still done and many of our roads, railways and industries would require extensive repair and remodeling. With the help of our returning countrymen and the largesse of the Royal Treasury the task of rebuilding our country with new, modern methods and emerging greater than before is upon us.

-[] On the matter of taxation, the admission of the French people to our nation has granted us the obligation to ensure that their industry and enterprise can stand on equal footing with our esteemed British businesses. The issuance of these tax breaks and regulatory easing shall be doled out in 10 year period, with continuance being a matter of both review and their willingness to support the government. Furthermore, our new holdings in Africa have left us woefully overstretched. Begin a program of tax benefits not just for businesses but also our new citizens to encourage the formation of families.

-[] The Bonaparte Affair has been a comical series of improbabilities that have nonetheless happened, there is no need for the Queen to divorce but a promise to betroth the heirs of both thrones should suffice to put the matter to rest.

-[] We are now an empire of two peoples, it is unreasonable to believe that one side of it could be blind to the goings on of another, administer bilingualism as fast as possible.

-[] Concede on switching measurements towards Metric, it just makes more sense now doesn't it?

Their first act was the banning of the French Communist Party and Algerian Communist Party across the FBU. Labour fully supported the move. The security risk presented by the communists' demands had to be dealt with. Nobody wanted the FBU to break apart, or at the very least give away rightfully stolen colonies. It'd signal the death knell of the empire itself. The quick work of the military had helped prevent the worst from passing.
Something Something, Moderate Wing of Fascism, Social Fascism, Bernie Killed Rosa.

Although I am severely disappointed in the loss of the communist party and suppression despite their votes. I suppose it was to be expected. No way would a massive Imperialist power like the FBU ever respect election results with communists winning seats.

[] Plan: For the Empire! (Except With the Metric System)
-[] While Elizabeth may be married and pregnant, this does not mean that the combining of the lines of Bonaparte and Windsor are out of the cards. Begin feeling out the idea of betrothal between the future children of both lines, as well as creating the combined crowns of our respective empires.
-[] Healthcare is necessary but the sheer expense is entirely too great to bear without clear limits, nor do we want to cause any trouble with the medical sector. Thus the public must work with the private, concessions must be made in order to keep the medical community stable, and various fees to ensure that people don't abuse this system. This is for those who are citizens of the FBU, and not the colonies, of course.
-[] Pay for it by printing money and devaluing the pound. This will pay for our healthcare domestically and reduce debt at the same time.
-[] Relax, but maintain rationing. Abolish rationing entirely for the cheapest/least popular foods, to ensure that all of every animal and plant gets eaten.
-[] Start a collaboration of church and state in the realm of education, but we should warn the both Churches that the danger of communism, socialism and populism must be defended against.
-[] Additionally incentives for couples to have children as well as adoption programs will help prevent a generation being entirely lost.
-[] The work of demobilization with subsidization of our industry and the slow pullback of our soldiers is good and necessary, especially if prominent industrialists promise to promote the campaigns of our MPs with their contacts in the media. However, these soldiers may be useful in foreign ventures, thus we may offer incentives to staying soldiers in order to help with our interventions abroad to maintain and perhaps claw back some of our rightful empire.
-[] French Businesses should be given special exemptions on a ten year basis, at which point they should be reviewed to see if they are still necessary.
-[] Encourage bilingualism, a split system is too vulnerable to splitting and we don't want to give the communists any talking points, but we cannot allow our cultural heritages to become so muddled with mandates.
-[] Criminalize and begin the harsh enforcement of anti-sodomy laws. It is immoral and against God and we cannot let any gap in child-bearing occur.
-[] Switch to Metric, it is a far more simpler and efficient measurement system that will help us in the future to avoid miscalculations.

[] Plan Sensible Planning, Reasonable Future

Any metric system voters will be tried as communist sympathisers.

[] Plan Patrie-otic (trimmed)

-[] Declare the Overseas France, with Algerie, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte and Réunion the proper overseas departments. Promise the gradual citizenship to the loyal and proper non-citizens (along with military service). Promised citizenship and vote would be only "local" at the beginning, limited to French regions.

-[] French Businesses: Give the tax breaks and support to the French businesses, that would be important in the "Southern industrialization" - primarily the maintenance of the existing military equipment, possibly ammo prodiction, but also the fuel prodiction, the costruction sector etc

-[] Education and Healthcare: Sorbonne and ecole normale supérieure is lost for us. Temporarilly, but we cannot rely on the Oxford education here, it's obviously inferior to ours. It's a necessity to invest in the education in Algerie and in the neighbouring colonies. Bribe the locals - especially the less arabized ones - provide the education to their children and show our benevolence. Same with healthcare.
British screams would be heard beyond the Moon, but they would too comply with Labour bashing them - especially if French would set the example, as is proper.

-[] Gay Status: If the Brits are willing to keep railing against the 'Bronze Age Perversion' they may do this, however France would keep it's time-honoured tradition in this. If the sentimental Brits are willing to move to us, the better - there would be some educated and useful ones.
Keep the "sodomy laws" separate.

-[] Additionally create incentives for couples to have children as well as adoption programs - keep this initially to the "war-torn population" (meaning, "european"), though encourage adoption of local kids too.

-[] Ignore the Bonapartist polyandrous demands. A step too far even for us! Lampoon them in press!

-[] Encourage bilingualism, and encourage the minority languages in overseas. Victor Hugo is dead and can no longer opine on language.
Сajole some Welsh and Sctottish Brit MPs with local patriotism to support this.

-[] The work of demobilization with subsidization of our industry and the slow pullback of our soldiers is necessary, especially if prominent industrialists promote the campaigns of our MPs with their contacts in the media. Keep the necessary forces to guard against the communist landings or uprisings, but do not try to recapture the lost territories from Japanese.

-[] Rationing: Increase our food production by giving financial benefits to farmers and fishers that modernize their farms/fisheries or hire a certain number of new workers. Encourage domestic corporations to open up new lands to agriculture in our African holdings through a mix of tax breaks and regulatory exemptions, but keep the exemptions not much lanour-related, to avoid the uprisings. Once food production is up, we can gradually ease the rationing.

-[] Use the proposal to switch to the Metric system to bait the English MPs and then shelve it in the exchange for lenience on the healthcare, education and investments.

-[] Keep the laicite but hint to the muslim preachers that anticommunist patriotic stance would result in benefits. Appoint Rene Genon as the Islam advisor.

Have to trim my brilliant plan here of the extra wording, as our QM benevolently declared the 500 words limit in planning. (Maximiani Julia Portaz is still the Labourist)

I am surprised there no armed revolution in india and British colonies.

The 1945/46 Syrian Revolt was put down before Soviet forces could reach the border of Turkey to support it. India was given dominion status to stave off a massive revolt. The right, center, and center-left wings of the INC accepted it. The Muslim League begrudgingly accepted it. There's unrest in Algeria, Kenya, Palestine, and a number of other places as well.

It couldn't have gone any other way. The NPC's have agency. I will not unilaterally overrule player decisions, but expect NPCs to push back against some things.

It was all discussed during a mororarium but remember that someone should vote for the actual plan and not just the title so they can be easily found in tally please.

[X] Plan Sensible Planning, Reasonable Future

-[X] Demobilization: Begin demobilization, replace it with a 2-year system of national service and various incentives to staying soldiers to maintain our military strength. This will increase unemployment, but that means wages will also drop. Both government and business can thus hire a ton of cheap labour to use in rebuilding the nation.

-[X] Healthcare: Implement a more reasonable version of the proposed NHS to limit government expenses. Allow local authorities to retain control over their own healthcare, involve the private sector and charities to ease the burden on the state's coffers, introduce prescription fees to prevent abuse, etc.

-[X] Rationing: Increase our food production by giving financial benefits to farmers and fishers that modernize their farms/fisheries or hire a certain number of new workers. Also encourage British and French corporations to open up new lands to agriculture in our African holdings through a mix of tax breaks and regulatory exemptions. Once food production is up, we can gradually ease the rationing.

-[X] Education: It is time to rebuild our education system by introducing a national minimum curriculum. Hire demobilized soldiers as educators in order to instill students with patriotic values. To fix our lack of funding, perhaps the Church could be convinced to open its coffers in exchange for partenering with the government in shaping the curriculum?

-[X] French Businesses: The French can have their exemptions and tax breaks, with the understanding that these measures will only be temporary and end after a period of, say, 15 years. That should give them time enough to get their economy into shape.

-[X] Elizabeth's Marriage: Forcing Princess Elizabeth to divorce is out of the question, but perhaps a royal betroyal could be arranged between her child and a Bonaparte?

-[X] Gay Status: If the French want to be French, who are we to stop them? But aren't a lot of these Homosexuals sympathetic towards the Reds? Perhaps that would explain the ostensibly large support for the PCF in Algeria. Have MI5 look into this.
