Adrift in an Endless White Sea- A Floating Islands Civilization Quest

Okay , so all the variants in the "how we dealed with the problem" suck more or less. But , since we need to choose something from it , dark mages are at least somewhat acceptable. First of all , they at least are somewhat original and secondly , the other variants are even worse. The NaTuRe GoOd is a big fat no since it's so boring , overused and VERY far from true if you knew at least a little bit about how cruel , gross and inhospitable actual nature are. The second is bad coz I just don't believe any god and , frankly , being dependant on someone to solve your problems for you in exchange for whatever it wants in return sounds like really terrifying idea , even if sounds it is honest , kind , etc.
In the organisation , the councils is the choice. The religious thing is a big fat no just like the nature spirits , since firstly religion in general is boring and secondly , in our situation it doesn't even make sense. We are literally rogue magical robots , who are we supposed to worship? Our creators are most likely just random fantasy race who have nothing to do with godhood. And even if gods are real (like the Crab) , it is better to have nothing to do with them. Communism has nothing inherently wrong with it , it is just unoriginal and its backstory seems forced.
And finally , in the tech Aura meters are obviously just going to have more long-term value

It may be a bit early for this, but it costs nothing and it might generate more discussion, so here's a discord link for my stuff, you can come by and say hi, ask questions about the quest or whatever, and plan with others, if you're more inclined to do those things in discord than in thread.

Do you.. just not participate in or interact with wider society?

The vast majority of people would starve to death or die of sepsis if dropped into the wilds alone; I'm not sure why specifically this unnerves you, assuming you're not an incredibly grizzled survivalist.

I find the idea of parliamentary debates by steampunk robot people about how to negotiate with their nation's flying crab god just about right!

I probably phrased myself a bit off here. What I meant was the fact that when you are trying to achieve a deal with something that could potentially end your whole civilisation by himself , this deal probably would be not in your favor to put it lightly (its like Darth "I have altered the deal , pray I don't alter it any further" Vader and Lando situation , but on steroids). But thats not the end. The Crab variant is not , in fact , even a deal. It is a debt , so god gets to add any number of percents to the already high price he can demand just by having incomparably more bargaining power to begin with. Entire nations were practically enslaved by unfair deals IRL , when both sides were still just humans. But if one is a literal god , it may end up even worse

And with that we'll close voting. Winning plan is Racing the end. The next update will take a bit longer, doubt it'll be tonight, maybe tommorow, but possibly thursday or even friday.
