Summer Rolls
"So, we'll be taking out vamp nests for the rest of the summer? Hitting them while the sun's out and trying to cut them down before we get back to the usual nonsense sounds good," you said cheerily.

"It's dangerous for civilians," Sofia protested.

"You came here to learn, right? We work as a group here," you countered.

"Besides, we have experience! All of us have killed vamps before," Willow added eagerly.

"And I don't think you can call us civilians," you added.

"You don't have any powers," Sofia countered.

"I have some magic," Willow protested. The fact she wasn't nearly as well practiced in magic as Amy or Ms Calendar was conveniently not brought up.

"Giles helped train me. He's a watcher, so that means I have to be decent, right?" you added.

"Fine. We'll give it a try," Sofia said reluctantly.

"Let's try to do this in an organized manner, shall we?" Giles asked.

The last part of summer turned into a routine of helping Giles track down vamp nests and helping Sofia to take them out. You still had your job, and spending time with Cordelia and the others to keep in mind, but it felt good to be doing a solid clearing out. Sofia remained professional and a little distant the entire time. She didn't seem to get working with you and the others, no matter the fact you'd spent weeks doing it. Perhaps part of that was because she only saw you for cleaning out the vamp nests. How she managed to stay sane without doing anything fun was beyond you. Worse were the small glimpses you caught sometimes of Sofia looking lost. She almost always looked confident, it was strange to see her off balance.

I wonder where Sofia's Watcher is.

[X]Plan something fun to do with Sofia

I'm going with this because talking by itself is awkward while doing something together feels more natural. Sofia might still be lost, depending on how she was raised, but I think an activity would go over better than a conversation.

Summer End
You decide to try and draw Sofia into actually spending time with you guys doing something that wasn't related to hunting vampires. She proved shockingly stubborn. She kept reciting how her training was her lifeline for staying alive, and how important her role as the slayer was. Your attempts to point out that it was better now because there were two slayers unfortunately didn't help as much as you'd hoped. She just looked tired.

You did manage to drag her out to a field where you were all taking turns throwing rocks at cans. It was a pretty good time, even if Sofia looked awkward hanging around in the back. It was nice just chilling with Oz between turns at throwing rocks. He was such a cool guy. You hoped that Sofia got something out of the hangout. She still looked a little lost, but you thought she was a little more open on patrols. Possibly. You weren't exactly top notch at this stuff. At least Buffy would be back soon.

Sofia is definitely worried about ending up like her predecessor, and I'm guessing she was raised by the Watchers as a Potential. I'm a bit torn between a party and a dinner. Sofia seems like she'd feel more comfortable with a dinner, but Buffy would probably like a party better. Though maybe Buffy might be tense from spending the summer with her dad and not like the noise of a party? I guess I'll go with dinner for now, but I might change my vote based on later discussion.

I want Sofia to make it through this.

-[X] Try to emphasize to Sofia that Buffy has survived as long as she has due to having backup, while Kendra worked alone, and she should have her own group, wherever she goes.

IMO, the Slayer acts as a sort of force multiplier for vampire and demon hunters. Great when working with a team of professional hunters and/or Watchers, not so great as a lone wolf with no backup.

I'm really confused about where her Watcher is. Is he/she already dead? I'd think that she'd have told Giles if that was the case.

While I'd like for her to have backup, I'm not sure where to advise her to look for it. Is she going to be constantly traveling? Maybe we should just tell her to be open to working with others?

Maybe if we are lucky her fate will change and she will survive.
