Seeking Alice: A Wonderland Quest

Wonderland
"Where am I anyway? And how do I get back to London?" you asked the lion.

"She's very forgetful," a bear whispered to one of the eagles.

"Wonderland, of course," the lion answered. "You're on the beach. It's a good day for a swim."

You looked up. Considering it was in fact cloudy and looked like it might drizzle, you did not agree with that thought. It was not too cold, but it very easily could be when the rain started. "Well, how do I get back to London?" The lion pretended very hard not to hear you. You frowned and turned to the bear and eagles. "Can you tell me where to go from here at least?"

"That depends on where you're heading," the bear answered.

"She wants to go to London," an eagle answered.

"She can't go to London, going Between is too tricky," another eagle chimed in.

"What do you mean it's tricky? Why do I have to go Between to get to London?"

"That's how it all connects," an eagle answered. He smoothed down his chest of feathers and puffed up like a professor delivering a speech. "Wonderland and Spherium overlay and mesh together, but solid beings like us need to travel purposely Between if we want to go through."

"Ideas have it easy," the lion agreed.

"But things have broken, it's hard now. Only the Pillars can open paths these days," an eagle mourned.

What's Broken
"How did things break? Was it not maintained?" What would even have to be maintained in this situation, anyways? You weren't entirely sure what possibly could have broken to have damaged an entire land, but that did seem to be the general impression you were picking up on. Your mind instantly conjured the image of a bunch of animals in suits scurrying around in a clock tower trying to repair it.

"No one knows," a lion answered. "Just one day, the Link snapped, and it started rotting."

"Poisoning everything it touches," a bear mourned.

"It even takes down people it infects," an eagle complained. "One day sane, the next their mind is gone in a frenzy!"

"And you can't repair this link?" you asked.

"That's what you're here for!" the eagle chirped.

"Me? I don't know anything about building, or engineering! I certainly couldn't repair this link you're talking about."

"Sure you can! You fixed it last time," the bear said happily.

"But I've never been here before! I certainly never fixed it. You have to mean Alice, and I'm not Alice!"

The gathered animals grumbled. "Deny it all you like, we know you!"

This was not getting you anywhere. They didn't seem to listen to a single word you said about not being Alice! It seemed you would be on your own trying to find your way back. You looked around gathering your courage.

[ ]There's a dark creepy looking forest to the north of the beach you're on. You think you see smoke from a chimney that way
[ ]There is a rather pleasant looking valley to the east of the beach you're on
[ ]You can just spot train tracks to the south. Surely if you follow them you can get to proper civilization
[ ]You could try to swim home. England is by the sea, so surely you can't be too far if you are by a sea here

[X] You might not be Alice but surely you could at least try to help. The effects seem to be severe, and helping them might help you get back home.

Train Trance
Alright, there were train tracks, you could just follow them along until you reached somewhere more sensible. The animals thankfully did not stop you from leaving. For all that they had kidnapped you and set up a tremendous fuss, they seemed alright with you leaving now. They were silly creatures. You on the other hand, were quite sensible and fully prepared to follow logic in order to find your way back to London where you could forget about this entirely.

The train tracks were a tad worn down. Grass and weed grew through some parts of it, with the tracks barely visible. Here or there you saw spots that seemed to have recently been maintained and given new polish to make it new again. If it wasn't for the fact that you had been stolen away the entire walk could have been pleasant.

You spotted a train station up ahead and sped up. That may have been a mistake, as an awful smell like a terribly bad fart began to reach you. You slowed down some focused on trying to block out the stench. Now that you were closer you could see there was some sort of slimy black mold creating small pus bubbles growing across the station. A few dreary looking creatures stood at the platform, but they were all huddled inward and lacked the spark of the ones you had just escaped. One flinched further into the group as a bubble popped and a splash of black rot was spat out.

[ ]Avoid the station and keep following the tracks. You suspect the black stuff could make you sick
[ ]Ask if the train station is still open to the people there
[ ]Investigate the black oozing stuff. You have never seen anything like it
