Mami squeezed her eyes shut, unable to keep the tears from falling again. "I've got no one now..." she whimpered. "I'm all alone..."
You weren't about to let her cry alone, however. As you propped yourself up with one forepaw on Mami's chest and used your other forepaw to dry her tears again, you smiled at her, your red eyes full of warmth. "Alone? Never!" you encouraged. "You've got me, and there's a whole damn world out there just waiting to learn how amazing the two of us are! So pick yourself up, and let's go show the world what it's missing!"
"You... you mean it?" Mami asked, hope and the fear of disappointment flooding her heart.
"Of course I do! I'm not gonna abandon my new friend! Just who the hell do you think I am, huh?"
Those words brought a smile to Mami's lips, and the next thing you knew, you were held tightly within her arms, the blonde woman holding onto you like a lifeline. You couldn't help yourself; in response, you wrapped your forelegs around her neck and your tail around her side, giving Mami a hug in return. "Th-Thank you," Mami said softly, the two of you enjoying a friendly embrace together.
"...bey?" Are you there?"
Mami's voice shakes you out of your reminiscing. "Oh. S-Sorry, just lost on Memory Lane."
"Ah, Kyubey..." Mami giggles softly. "Never change." The two of you then enter Mami's apartment, the golden-haired woman opening the door for you before entering herself. "Would you like some cake?"
"I'd love some cake, Mami. Your cooking always sets this man's soul on fire," you reply, no stranger to Mami's skills in whipping up a delectable dessert.
Mami nods and starts cooking as you lay down on top of the windowsill, basking in the sunlight. However, you're not merely relaxing; instead, you're puzzling over the location of the Fuzzy White Buttface. You haven't seen hide nor hair of him since he tried to turn Mami into a time bomb. 'I don't think I drove him off. A guy like him's really persistent,' you think to yourself.
As you think, your sense of time goes away, almost dozing until Mami wakes you with a shake. "Huh... what?" you mutter, blinking at her.
"Cake's done. Here, have a slice." Mami sets down a slice of lovely vanilla cake in front of you, already having a slice on a plate for herself, and the two of you start eating.
Like always, Mami's cooking doesn't disappoint; the combo of vanilla icing, sweet bread, and sprinkles make for a wonderful combo on your tongue. It's perhaps one of your favorite things about Earth: all the different food everywhere. You could, if you really wanted, have three totally different meals a day and go for years without repeating either one food or a specific combo of food, that's how diverse Earth's potential plate is. The most masterful chefs practice their craft like they were making a painting, and to you, Mami is one such artisan.
Mami finishes her slice in about ten minutes; you, on the other hand, finish yours in twenty, your stomach filled from the meal. Letting out a pleased sigh, you grin and say, "My compliments to the chef!" And you mean it, too. "Y'know, I said it before, and I'll say it again. You could open up your own restaurant and make some serious money."
Mami lets out a sigh. "I'm not that good..."
"Nonsense, Mami! You're awesome! You've got skills enough to put other chefs out of business! If you set your mind to it, you could do anything!" you encourage. "A bakery would be a perfect way to show the world the awesomeness of Mami Tomoe!"
At that, Mami develops a frown, deep in thought. "You really think so?"
"I know so." You close your eyes and beam at Mami, the expression partway between cute and awesome (though the latter part comes from the shades).
