Black.
Darkness.
Night.
The man used to think they knew what those things meant; the last vestiges of the sun's' warmth slipping below the horizon showed how wrong they were.
The man with hints of boyhood, or the boy on the cusp of manhood, depending upon how you saw the world, was born in a city, grew up in a city, and truly never left the sweet warmth of civilization. Even on the coldest winter nights, there was still enough light to see their own feet. Though they rarely ever looked down; they walked with a confidence, a surety of step, and a head held high. A mix of purpose, ambition, and the knowledge that predators of the city would only come sniffing around a wounded animal.
Now there was not even the option to look down, for all they could see was darkness, yet just before the sun departed they thought they saw the glint of malicious eyes, and the person knew that these predators weren't the petty criminals and opportunists that wandered their home.
These predators prowled.
And this man had a long road home.
If only they could see which way it lay.
Who are you and what lays at home? (Mainly story and plot)
[]11-13- After the... accident mum was never the same, she only had you. You never had to worry about money but mum couldn't even walk, and you were the only one who looked after her. You needed to get home, and plus you had told your followers you were going live on twitch later. You haven't lied to them yet. You wouldn't start now. (
Boost to levelling speed, but you are still a child. With all that comes with it. And this world already dangerous enough doesn't get easier for children.)
[]14-16- Your 'parents' were idiots and pricks. Prickiodts, you liked to say and you thought your word was catching on. Still they birthed six kids all the while being hooked on all types of drugs. As much as you hated your family, you hated the idea of being a deadbeat like your parents, so you looked after your little siblings. (
Slight Boost to leveling speed, you are a teenager now, and stiff breeze isn't as likely to blow you over. Of course you are a teenager with all the rashness and arrogance that comes with it.)
[]17-21- You had a baby on the way, and a woman that you wanted to marry. Duty and Love. Simple as that. (
Nothing will deter you. Nothing will subsume you. All Critical failures will be rerolled, and you can train more or power level as you the wonder of the world or personal needs are secondary to what needs to be done. Yet choices which are not aiming to return to earth will have a higher DC, and anything that seems as if it goes against your Goal will be locked, even if it may eventually pay off. You can slightly resist mind altering effects, and some of them come along with the system.
[]22-25- Years. Years of hard work and struggle and you were finally days away from achieving your dreams. What other stumbled into years ago, you had to grind for, extra hours practicing, working odd jobs that often took a turn for a worse, just to fund your practice, and just when you almost had it. Poof. Gone in a blink of the eyes. Just your luck. (
You start with all the prerequisites for a Rare Class (which is powerful and can lead to truly OP Class consolidations), and you have the least internal pressure to return to home, and you are a truly a man grown. However you have the least will as you are burnt out, the range for critical rolls doubles (from a nat1 to a nat1-2) plus you are more susceptible to Red Classes and skills, which can be anything from being forced to take slave skills to becoming a Mind Thrall.

You were never truly special nor destined for greatness back home, yet you had enough talent or skill to be around those who were, and it showed you the difference between the rare few and everyone else. Yet what you called your purpose did give you a step above most, and may even lead to a fairly secure career.
What is your purpose? (Further votes in future updates, examples in bold)
[]Arts. Culture was man, and culture is art (
Painting, Drawing, Poetry, Media)
[]Academics, the world can be broken down and parcelled out. (
Science, Engineering, CS, Humanities)
[]Athletics, You were on your olympic squad and you loved your sport. (
Runner, Fencer, Swimmer, Rower)
[]Fighting. If you were born 1000 years ago, they would call you Achilles, now they call you brain damaged (
Boxing, MMA, TMA)
[]Spirituality. You weren't a scholar nor did you agree with everything in modern religion, yet you had Faith,
True Faith (If you know TWI you realise what this could lead to)
[] Military, (
Army, Navy, Airforce, Special Forces)
[] 'Real' Art (Chef, Potter, Woodworker)
[]Something Else

Welcome to the quest, it's based in the world of The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba, and inspired by Blood and Sand: A Wandering Inn Quest by New Role. I highly recommend giving both a read if you can, however there shouldn't be a major need to read either if you want to participate or read this quest. As we will be exploring and understanding the Innworld alongside whoever our MC is.
Just know on a scale between Disney Star Wars and Warhammer 40k, TWI can lean closer to 40k, especially with how common death can be.
If we even make it to a point where we can start actually looking into returning to earth, then thank the dice, as TWI is a merciless world.
Choices matter.
A very brief and short TL;DR below, I think TWI is around 3 LOTR trilogies in length, so this is a very brief summary. Nonetheless The Wandering Inn has one of the most enjoyable worldbuilding I have ever had the pleasure of reading
Highlight if you want spoilers,
I can't do it :/
It's over 9.3 million words.
If it's in fantasy, it's in TWI. Unless they're all already extinct, hidden, or genocided.
Which is a surprisingly high number.
