The Democratic Frikorps Quest: Das Corps of Democracy

On the 11the Hour, of the 11th day, of 1918, The Guns Fell Silent, and the World Knew Peace.

That was the promise of the Armistice of 1918. The Great War would be over. And the Great War was over. Fighting all across the Lines of the Western Front was finally at an end. And the weary world of the West let out a sigh of relief.

Four years of fighting had finally come to an end. Four years of pointless slaughter that had left your friends dead. Your psyche is scarred, and the world is in tatters. Most men would see the end of this conflict as the end. A Long night that had drenched the world in shadows, finally making its way to dawn.

Yet in your cold, broken bones, caked in French mud from what feels like a decade of conflict, drenched in frigid, still water from the early morning rains, and shivering from the winter chill, you knew the fighting had just begun.

A simple paper could not attend to the problems that were plaguing Germany. Nor could they end them.

Germany was falling into chaos, as reports continued to erupt from telegraph and radio messages.

Mutiny from the Navy.

The Kaiser had Abdicated from his throne realizing the untenibleness of the situation that he found himself in, and to escape his crimes, fled to the Netherlands, and with that abdication, a Republic had been proclaimed.

There was even word that in Bavaria if rumors could be believed that a Communist state had been proclaimed, and that revolution would soon sweep all through Germany. That the Red Banner would fly over Germany.

Yet even in those mere rumors, you knew nothing else. This war has shaken you all. Take everything…

But the Reich still stood. Germany still stood.

And that meant you still stood. As its shield and defender.

What Are you?:

[]The Lieutenant: You're a young man, full of life and Energy, loved by your men, and hated by your superiors. The War was over now, there was no need for men like you to remain. So you did. Asking any man who would follow you into battle. To protect your home from Revolution, and chaos that will follow it. (You are Alexander Schnee. Begin with a Company of 100 men loyal to the Republic, willing to follow your orders because it is the right thing to do. They are your friends, brothers, and allies. You will only get to choose 1 special trait and Personality trait, however, you will start with Disarmed Trait, as you had to surrender your weapons prior to returning to Germany.)

[]The Captain: You had been alive for all of Germany's existence, and never once wavered when she called for you to do your duty. Now your duty is over. But only in death does duty End. You take your sword, your pistol, and rifle, and gather your men to do their duty. To die for Germany as they always have. This time, for a new Germany. A Germany Worth Fighting For. (You are Maxi Schechter. You begin with a regiment of 800 men, who are following you because they are lost, with nowhere else to go. Wanting to fight, but not knowing what to fight for. Can choose 2 Special Traits and Personality traits, but will start with the Weary Disadvantage Trait and must choose another disadvantage trait (Either a personality or Unit Trait))

[]The Colonel: When you swore your oath, you swore it to the Kaiser himself, an oath of personal loyalty to your sovereign. It was one of the proudest moments of your life. Now that Oath was meaningless. Your Kaiser was gone, left Germany to never return, and now in its place was a republic that you knew nothing about. But your oath remains to protect Germany. And there may be no Kaiserreich anymore… But there was still Germany. There remains hope yet. (You are Peter Von Ackner. You Begin with a Korps of 2000 strong, who are men who remember the time before the war when the Kaiser was leading Germany in Peace. They will understand that while times may change. Germany has not. And Germany will not fall to a revolution. Not while you still draw breath. Can choose 3 Special Starting Traits, but you will begin with Rebellious Soldiers, And Disloyal Officer's Traits. You will also be forced to take a Bad Personality Trait)
----------------------------------------------------

What do you Name your Frikorps:
[]Der Corps of Democracy
[]Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold
[]Write in (It will be translated to German)
-------------------------------------------------------------
How Fluid would you like the Timeline?:
[]Natural: Keep the shinanigans to change history to a basic level. Try not to rock the boat too much. (History, outside of events you are directly involved in, will not change, and the changes themselves will be minor. Yet do enough minor changes, and then the changes may seem like an avalanche)
[]Rocking: Have the Streams of Time butterfly out during the results of our actions. Let the world change. (History that is directly affected by your or your actions will carry a ripple effect that will change the coming days, months and years. However, those same events will carry outcomes you will not expect)
[]Magoose Dice: Leave it to the whims of the Dice, they will decide our fate! (History is changed on a literal roll of the dice. This is meant for those who want unpredictability, who want to see the world change in ways that could have been possible if God himself played dice. Examples include: The German navy becoming pirates, Bavarian Tanks rolling down Berlin with the red banner flying in a revolution that makes the one in Russia look tame, and The Miricle of Warsaw not happening. Basically, this world will get more like the Red Flood than actual plausible history. Where everyone is doing drugs... and somehow, it will all make sense. Eventually.)
--------------------------------------

AN: Plan Format, please.

Alright let's get this out of the way right now.

I have been reading about the Frikorps, and how much of the assholes they were.

And then I started thinking, what someone who wasn't an asshole... or an extremist, actually decided to fight for the Republic and Government. Basically not be the breeding ground for the SS and other far right bullshit.

The key words there is the Government, and the Republic. Where your objectives, orders, and even korp size will be affected by what your government is, how they see you, and who they are. And what friends you make along the way.

Also to any who knows me, this is the thing I went on hiatus on another quest for.

Alexander Schnee
Name: Alexander Schnee

Age: 25

Rank: Leutnant of the Imperial German Army. Commander of Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold

Political Beliefs:Liberalism: The Republic taking control is perhaps one of the greatest goods that may have befallen the German people. And that it is up to you and others to see that it is done. A new Age of Germany will dawn. And perhaps a better one? (Begin with increased relations with the Center parties of Germany, as well as slightly decreased relations with the socialists. But begin with Heavily decreased relations with Monarchists, Communists, and the Extreme Right.)

Traits:
War Hero: Despite everything that happened, you still were treated like a hero of old, A Hero that Germany could be proud of, despite its failures. (Unknown Effect. Start with the personal reputation as Heroic.)

The German Reputation
The German Reputation:

Frikorps Reputation:
The Government: 0 (The Government does not confirm or deny your existence, nor do they believe your wishes to support the republic Genuine, as they have had to claw tooth and nail for power to prevent a civil war)

The SPD:0 (The Majority Party thinks that you are an anomaly, that will fold back into the Heer once you are finished playing as a mercenary. While they honestly think you are doing good for the republic, they also think that you are going too softly in convincing others to follow your example and support the republic's many policies.)

The CVP: 2 (They are your strongest supporters, thinking you're a firm believer of the new republican system, they also wish to meet with your men and give you thanks, once you have returned to Berlin)

The DVP: 1 (Another party that has looked to you as proof the Republic will have legitimacy among the people and the soldiers, and not just through the backroom dealings that had occurred)
The DDP: 1 (Once again, you believe you have friends in government, but not just the powerful ones)

The USDP: (-2) (They the more radical socialists within the Government think you are going to cement bourgeois republicanism over that of the workers. They believe you should lay down your arms, and go home)

As many far right parties have yet to be formed, you will learn more about them and their opinions as the time goes on.
-----------------------------------------
The German People 0 (The German People believe your Korps are just like all the others. Bullies, soldiers that don't know that it's time to go home, and do what needs to be done for your families and for Germany itself.)

The Heer: (-2) The German army is glad to be rid of your political rabble-rousers.
--------------------------------------------------
Alexander Schnee's Reputation (As of November 1918)

The Government: 5 (The People of Germany know that there are many that will give you thanks during the Spring Offensive, and many of the sons and brothers and husbands were saved on that cruel day in April.)

The SPD: 4 (While many disapprove of your politics, none can deny that your public declaration of support for the Republic has allowed the government to put pressure on the Army, as well as soothe the citizen's worries about the future)

The CVP: 6 (They have all but wished for you to become a card-carrying member of the party, to bolster membership and help them win elections)

The DVP: 5 (They have also wished for you to join, but the celebrations and muted echoes of others have made them quieter, and far more silent.)

The USDP: (3) (They do have respect for their heroes.)

As many far-right parties have yet to be formed, you will learn more about them and their opinions as time goes on.
---------------------------------------------------
The German People 7: They call you a hero of Germany. Perhaps it is true, perhaps it is not.

The Heer: 5 You are among the finest soldiers that the Reich had ever seen. They had only wished you hadn't thrown it all away.

1., As a German, my name for the Freikorps is so far the most accurate name for a Freikorps at the time.
And 2.: I helped @Magoose design the Options. And trust me when I say this: If we choose Magoose-Dice, things will get GLORIOUSLY awesome...
So, my friends, let us once more embrace the Madness and see who comes out the other side!
