The Abnormalities were only contained within LCorp, they were shipped to it from other locations, I assume at least some came from the Wastes.

Huh, guess I thought that L-Corp was more like the SCP Foundation than it actually was then, I always took the 'choose an Abnormality' thing at the beginning of each day was an Abnormality being shipped in from somewhere else.

Q:Are there some abnormalities with the identity code F or T that are from "the outside"(no idea what they're referring to here, maybe outside of LobCorp in-game )?
A: Yes. About 5 original abnormalities. It's important where that "outside" is but that's info we can't tell you yet...

Not really all, some of them where found in the outskirts and ruins, the three birds prof since black forest is a real location and Nosferatu since he is the start of the bloodfiennds, probably because "well" is leaking in some pleases outside The City.
 
The Plague Doctor's information also states that He just walked in one day. Now whether this is actually true, we do not know. But I would definitely believe that one was not extracted.
 
The birds we get were almost definitely still extracted like all our others abnos, the main facility don't accept anything from the outside except for the rabbits, Nosferatu wasn't in the main facility, and probably wasn't in any facility, so he isn't a valid argument for where the Abnormalities used in L-Corp's come from.

That's probably one of the only one where I could actually believe it, and even then, he is so attached to L-Corp's story (Particularly One Sin) that I wouldn't be surprised if what happened was more that he extracted himself without anyone seeing it and everyone thought he had just walked in, it even counts as just walking in from a certain point of view, he also has strong mind control, not impossible he just used it to convince people of this.

At the very least, it is almost definitely certain that all abnormalities used in every branches of L-Corps have at least been processed through the main one at least once, I can hardly see an abnormality walking in the City to reach the other facilities, after all.

To be fair, this option makes the most sense to me since it expands on the properties of Abnormalities and their capabilities while also tidying up the science behind it. Mentions of the Library and the City can come off as non-sequiturs after all, and Lobotomy Corporation...

Well, that one is a long derail that takes a lot of time to fully exposition.

incorrect actually, the birds are all naturally formed Abnos like the forsaken murderer, we know this because big bird was explicitly stated to be found physically in the black forest after he killed an innocent little girl who wandered in, and the forsaken murder was created due to the mistreatment he suffered at the hands of Carmen and the then human Seriphot in the outskirts lab, in fact his "birth" seems to have been the thing to inform the staff about abnormalities since the experiments performed on him to cure the "Illness of the mind" don't match any Abno procedures we know about such as extraction.

as well as them [CENSORED] might've been the old L corps singularity due to also being an insectoid monster which had all information about it redacted, that and they both perform unmentionable things on humans and having "children" that share their properties *looks at Gregor and Roland.

to add onto this Distortions, like both E.G.O/Psychomats, and Abnos are phenomenons that seem to predate their popularizing in the cities culture and knowledge sphere, it's just that since they are so rare they were assumed to be one-off beasties or classified as a hostile type of human such is the case of "Bloodfiend" type Abnos and distortions.

Adding onto my previous points, Zena in the ending of LoR calls Distortions a part of humanity, coupled with Moses in Distortion Detective being able to see see distortions in all non-E.G.O users and her classifying this stage as "incubation", as well as YuRia becoming something akin to an Abno* seems to imply that all humans naturally posses the ability to manifest E.G.O, Distortion, or become an Abno and that these three separate categories are actually manifestations of the same phenomenon, the ability of the human soul to physically manifest and impart itself upon the world.

*she gets dunked in enkaphalin(?) which at the time was being used to force distortion manifestation at the behest of Lady Dias of the Udjat,at the time she posses the E.G.O "YuRia Atelier" which takes the form of her workshop and teddy bear minions, causing her to be forced into one of her teddy's, which is a physical manifestation of her own soul. to put this clearly she while having E.G.O is dunked in substance made by Abnos which also creates Distortions and becomes something akin to an Abno herself. linking all three together.

Edit: also Singularities are defined as technologies which defy explanation due to their obscured process while having observable beginnings and endings, this would help explain why things like Abnos, Distos, and E.G.Os aren't singularities, while something like Cogito is, they are naturally occurring phenomenon not an invention or any sort of technology, even though methods or substances to make them are they would not be.

huh? aren't forsaken murderer a abno created by the old lab because they done too many experiment on one criminal, nothing is naturaly generate it if cogito is involved.
The ones created in old lab(Accidental or intentionally) is not naturally generated. They are humanly made because experiments. do you have some misconception about naturally generated?
The birds could be already existing this I agreed, but they can still be pulled out of the well. It's not like they have another storage unit to put all these naturally generate abnos. So it must be that they are still ideas so they could still be extracted from a hatch in the human subconscious.

when i say naturally generated i do not mean without human intervention, i mean as in not intentionally formed due to Cogito experiments, the old lab lacked Cogito and thus a way to create Abnos, and his entry to me indicates that the "treatment" that "cured" him isn't what caused him to become an Abno, but rather it's failure, success, himself, carmen, and the way the scientists treated him. I believe exceptional, unique situations create Abnos "naturally" and these situations being the product of intelligent beings are not "natural" in the same way a tree is, furthermore the situation which created the forsaken murder doesn't seem to have been copied despite not using Cogito and likely not using other singularities.

to put it in other words, if anybody else had experimented on him, if he was any different a person, if the situation was any different, and you still performed the same experiments, you wouldn't get an Abno. His "birth" had to happen exactly the way it happened for him as an abno to come about, same thing for the Birds and every other "natural" Abno, because it's not science or nature that originally created them, it was something spiritual, an event that resonated with the well and caused something to be dredged up.

while in comparison to "extracted" where we have a literal assembly line making the things using a singularity and forcefully dragging these things which only previously existed in the well to be dredged up towards the surface. and while this style of creating Abnos requires cogito, "natural" means do not.

Edit: my usage of the "surface" terminology also comes from distortion detective where some mermaids that are an independent and intelligent part of a distortion vaguely refer to Moses as coming from "up there", I.E above the well.

I guess I can see your point, but I'm too fucking tired and it's too early in the morning for me to have an argument.
 
A surprisingly bloodless chapter, I kinda expected Love to either begin killing already or to turn into Hatred. But I guess we just dealt with Greed a while back, so delaying this for at least another chapter or two should be expected.

E.G.O., and more specifically E.G.O.ists, are my favorite subject in Library of Ruina. I want to learn more about it as well.



Library of Ruina game update: There's technically no order I'm supposed to be doing battles, but I feel like I did something wrong. Chesed and Gebura showed up back to back, which I'm pretty sure wasn't supposed to happen. Roland went through three conversations about/with the Red Mist back-to-back, so that's something.

I really like all of the Guests in Urban Nightmare. Not enough to let them win, but enough that I genuinely regret they came to my doorstep. Even the Index has their charms (good Singleton Cards) that make me really like them.

A lot of Abnormality battles opened up, as in one or two on every Floor. Most of them I managed to get through painlessly, but Gebura and Chesed's first Abno battles feel like hitting my head against a brick wall. Little Red keeps either dying, killing the entire Floor, or at one point shooting one of Geb's assistants in the back after they killed the Wolf. The Scarecrow wants both good block dice and good attacks afterward, and I kinda struggle at it.

I finally got the hang of Roland's Floor again. Using Lies and Ferverent Beats to turn him into a demigod for three turns is surprisingly effective.

On a more related subject, I also did the Knight of Despair and King of Greed Suppressions. For the Knight, I had to give up on guns in favor of bringing in +1 Dice Power for Pierce and Defense and just a bunch of good pierce cards. The King of Greed made me panic when I failed to destroy the cocoon in the first turn, but in the end, the Suppression ended with Tipereth parrying the Road of Gold with Bliss and dealing the final blow with a card called Faith. Which was just fucking perfect really.

The First Floor Realization opened up while I was an Urban Nightmare. Tried it and got all the way up until the second-to-last phase before getting shot down. I'll try it again probably on the weekend since, with all the other Assiah Floors on the verge of Realization, I want to have Angela speedrun her character development over the course of a day or two. So I'll have to make sure everyone on the Lower Floors know what they're doing.

Star of the City opens up with meeting Binah! I never understood why people are so weirded out by her speech, but I guess that's because I'm no better than her when it comes to loquaciousness and the number of thesauri swallowed. Binah is not actually fighting yet, she's having her Assistants sub in for her for now, but I can't wait to get her.

Star of the City cards are really something else; the Thumb's cannon fodder has two speed die and their cards make Guns a functional archetype finally. I used it on Gebura's floor and while I'm getting closer to actually winning it. The Thumb only gives one card that's not exclusive to them and its a better version of a good card that I've been using on several Floors what the fuck.

Also, I think it's a nice touch that the Index and the Thumb's cards are antithetical to one another; The Index uses Singleton, which does not function in a Thumb deck since they like to generate copies of their Ammunition cards. It's a really good bit of flavor and mechanics synergizing with each other.

Hokma Balls is here as well. Roland talked to him once and I happen to know that he'll never make that mistake again. Neither I nor Angela are as smart, however.
