Buffy the Vampire Slayer Take Two

New Love
You spent a while just reading your comics and practicing your self defense. You have stuff to do, vampires to hunt. There's a new dangerous vampire in town after all. Yeah you're not research guy, but it's still something. And it's better than missing Amy. It's alright when you're in a group together. Those moments it feels like you never broke up, that you're still great friends. One on one you still feel incredibly awkward, even if the sting isn't as strong as it had been.

Luckily the school's holding an exchange student program, and Buffy signed up to host a student at her place. That's a pretty big distraction. You've talked out how to hide Buffy's activities from the exchange student, and how to pull any necessary distractions so she can get away to do stuff. Amy's been getting even better at magic, she could probably start fighting monsters herself at this rate.

Your grade has a field trip to the local museum. You're fairly hopeful that nothing will happen this time, but of course one of the students manages to go missing during the trip. You, Willow, Amy, and Buffy sneak back into the museum to look for what could have happened. A wild looking man with a sword came out of nowhere attacking you. You were able to throw the guy off before he could really hit anyone, but Willow fell into the inca mummy exhibit. The wild man vanished.

Willow did seem to find the missing student at least. As the mummy. Something had suctioned him dry and put him where the mummy was. Possibly the actual mummy. There was a mummy wandering around draining people. Fun.

Buffy had to rush off to pick up her exchange student. You went as a group to pick them up, and wow. Ampata was a beautiful girl. You hadn't felt smitten this hard since you first saw Buffy at school. From the way she looked at you, there was a good chance she might actually like you back.

We've been working towards a more mature Xander so I don't think he'd ignore the problem, but he'd be open to spending time with Ampata afterwards.

Seems in character for our Xander

Ampata (did we ever learn her real name?) always got a bad wrap in the show. Given she died sacrificing herself to prevent a great evil befalling her people, her parallels with Buffy, and her general kind attitude, it's pretty clear she was a hero of her time and not at all deserving of her condition.

Unfortunately I highly doubt there's anything we can do to save her. My understanding is she's an undead who has to constantly drain people of life to sustain her own or she'll decay again and from how it appeared in the episode and her good nature being at odds with that it almost seemed like she was addicted to doing it on top of her desperation, because she wasn't a callous villain about it any time except when she got "hungry" and even then she resisted for Xander's sake.

Maybe the New Scoobies can pull a magical solution out of their hat, but if they can't I really would like Xander to have befriended her so she wasn't lost and alone in her final few days. It'd undoubtedly be a bit awkward if Xander twigs that she's the mummy early this time though, given she's already drained a fellow student to death. Not at all sure how the gang would treat her or feel about her if they do manage to save her in light of that.

I'm on board for not flirting at least. That's not really Xander's thing anymore and it might hurt Amy given it's not been that long since we split - even if it was mutual. It'd definitely depress Willow that after leaving Amy he immediately started chasing the brand new girl who won't be here long instead of looking her way at all.

Mummies and Girls
You do your best to be friendly. You don't know if you've crossed the line over to flirting or not, but you're trying to keep it cool. You have bigger things going on than Buffy's temporary roommate after all. Even if that is hard to keep an eye on. Hopefully you'll find the mummy swiftly and be able to spend more time with her. Ampata is beautiful, and learning more about a foreign place could be cool.

Ampata actually came along with Buffy to the brainstorm session you all were having trying to figure out what the seal that had been holding the mummy in said. She could actually read it, and told Giles that there was a legend of a bodyguard meant to keep away harm from the mummy. You joked that the bodyguard clearly hadn't done a very good job, considering the mummy was missing from where it was supposed to be. It did give a lead on who the man attacking at the museum had been at least. Perhaps the bodyguard thought someone had kidnapped the mummy? If you could find the bodyguard you could try to talk to him and see if you could work together.

Wow. I'm surprised that Buffy trusted Ampata enough to bring her to the brainstorm session. Also, I'm pretty sure that Ampata is lying somehow, but I don't know enough about canon to say exactly how.

[X]Look for the mummy

The man at the museum did not seem to be in a talkative mood. IC, Xander is thinking that the man might be more willing to listen if they're willing to return the mummy.

I always wondered why Ampata couldn't just suck the life energy out of vamps, monsters, and/or bad demons (depends on what kind of undead she is and compatibility I suppose). Plenty of those around Sunnydale 24/7. Plus that's not even accounting for like a magic amulet that could either lengthen the time between feeds, or straight up neutralize the feeding issue (considering how many types of magic pop up throughout the show).

Really hope Ampata lives, lots of story potential/drama. Can't wait for more!

Confrontations
You keep up looking for the mummy. Most of the school is excited about the cultural dance the school is hosting, which is really just a regular dance but has the world "cultural" slapped onto it to try and make it seem connected to the exchange students. Ampata tries to talk to you at one point about the dance, and you promise that you'll save a dance for her, but you're more concerned about trying to find some kind of trail for the mummy. Unfortunately the closest your trail gets is being attacked by the mummy's bodyguard demanding that you return the seal to its rightful place. Why he thought you had it you didn't know. Perhaps he just knew you were with the group. You managed to get away, but it wasn't leading you any closer to the mummy.

It felt like there were dead ends everywhere. Even the bodyguard turned up dead. You took some time off to go to the dance and met up with Ampata there, only for her to latch on and start draining you. You suddenly realized why you hadn't found the mummy. She looked like a normal teenage girl. You struggled in her grasp before Buffy managed to wrench her off. Ampata desperately tried to latch onto someone else and take more life, her flesh starting to decay from being unable to latch on. "I just want to live! It's not fair!" Ampata shouted. She lunged again, growing weaker as Buffy kept her from being able to properly drain. "Yeah, well life's not fair," Buffy shot back.

The mummy crumbled to dust, and you stared at what had been what you had thought had been a hot girl. Yeah, taking time before jumping back into dating after Amy had definitely been a good idea. Imagine if you had kissed that.

Too bad we couldn't help Ampata. Maybe if she had shown up in a year or two instead.

[X]Go to dance to try and forget

Xander is already at the dance so it makes sense for him to continue. Hopefully, the others are there too so that Xander can spend some time with his friends. I'm willing to switch if someone comes up with a good write-in though.
