[X] Plan Peace and Steppin
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Chu Quiang's martial arts class.
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Mao Yujing's cultivation study group. It will be held in the classroom. The Saint of Broken Swords will be addressing the class at the end of the week.
-[x] Go to the infirmary and visit Song and Ling, talk to them both and try to broker an agreement of favors between them that gets Song what she wants for her family while allowing Ling to keep as much face as she can.
-[X] Study the Writ of the Broken Tree. Sure, it's mostly koans and philosophical musings, but Hua Yin has received cultivation insights within. He could study the Writ further and see what insights it could give. Hua Yin believed he was close to a breakthrough.
-[X] Practice the Levin Step. Hua Yin had reached the first stage of Qi-infusion with the Levin Step. He knew that he could improve it further. Hua Yin will practice at the Kiss of Tribulation. This can be taken multiple times with a diminishing returns malus.

Probably too late but I like trying to fix the Song problem.

If you have archive duties I'll vote for it. Feng Chaoxiang was a bro and helped us out with the Bei fight and Lao Ai is a genius at cultivation and talisman crafting, I'd like to keep both of them out by resolving the Chyou-Daiyu feud.

[X] Plan: Hanging Out In The Woods

At least we're doing some social in there. Now that we're not suffering in physical training and that whatever we do further cultivation level ups will take a long while, we should make some effort to expand our circle and raise our reputation.

We have allies in other factions, yes. But we must nurture those ties. Joining to fight thugs is easy. Joining to face other factions in the sect, not so much.

Also this:

We had a pretty good example recently of what happens when you let a bad situation sit for too long. We need to make sure Li Gai doesn't become A Problem.

Since the plan-making times don't favor when I can log in, I'll just say now that we should try and take advantage of the fixed actions a bit more, like it's being done with the Archives action in this turn. Examples:

-[] Attend Core Disciple Chu Quiang's martial arts class.
--[] Our style's strikes are lacking in power, and thus we're badly matched against opponets with armor, tough skin, or otherwise durable bodies. Ask Chu Quiang about advice and tactics when fighting that kind of opponents.
-[] Attend Core Disciple Mao Yujing's cultivation study group. It will be held in the classroom.
--[] We're close to run out of instructions about the Levin Step. Ask Mao Yujing for tips about improving a Qi technique when there is no further documentation about it.
-[] Attend duties in the Archives.
--[] Look for books and info about spirit weapons. You need to know how to better help Jianshu develop.

Bumping up WH definitely seems unneeded. If we fight here it looks like we are going in a big group, we are already good enough and we're unlikely to use it much going forward.
It's good to have something to fall back on in case we're ever disarmed. And this way we don't have to spend an action on WH ever again.

I've checked the Stage 2 of Wooden Hand and it's quite the improvement. Enough that for unarmed we should consider it keeping it, instead of starting from zero with another style and wasting the time put into Wooden Hand like what happened with the Sprout Yearning Cultivation. Unarmed fighting is something we're going to avoid, and the switch between a parry-and-dodge style like Numberless Stars and a block-and-heavy-damage style like Wooden Hand could take enemies unaware and scrambling to adapt.

I don't entirely get why people are so enamored with Ming Xue, but I'd be willing to pick her or maybe Gao Jin? The latter we haven't spent much one-on-one time with since we did the martial training or when we taught him to read, barring short bits between other cultivation.

Aside finding her an interesting character and the hook of her mysterious past to discover, she's one of the 3 top fighters in the year and we wanted to add it to our faction to increase our influence. Seems the chance passed, though, and Ling Daiyu got to her first.

I wish this had been more popular. I'd have voted for it even if it meant skipping archives again. But the matter of Song and Ling has been, for better or worse, dismissed as done and unprofitable.

We'll see what comes out of it.

To be blunt, I think the people that believe we can just step in and get them to simmer down are being overly optimistic at best.
Yeah. Let them fight. We are not going to be able to do much there.

We left the situation alone and it exploded in our faces in the form of the duel. Besides, if we wanted to claim any sort of friendship with either of them, we shouldn't just forget them after the duel is over.

Still, the player base isn't interested in following that thread, so there's nothing more to it.

The chance to deal with Song-Ling problem passed after the duel. We had an entire update of negotiations with Feng and Ming, trying to appease and later to reduce the number of services.

In this situation, it is better to let them deal with the hand they have. He must be seen as impartial, and trying to stop Song in choosing her services owned will be seen as partial because:
1. It is said services are really big, they have very high value as favor, what right Hua Yin has to say he knows better in what to choose?;
2. We can't just say we would do the same for Song if she had lost as an excuse to be impartial. After all, we cant prove that because it didn't happen;
3. Everything could have been avoided if both sides just TALKED and stop acting like children, so let this be a lesson for them;
4. I don't know if any Arbiter interfered in the aftermath, but probably they don't. That means we need to approach as a friend... Of both sides, which will just remember Song that one of her friends like her enemy enough to try to "stop" her.

It is an ugly situation and I want nothing more with that anymore. We can visit them in the infirmary or in the next week to see how they are, but lets not talk about the duel. The bridge between Song and Ling are already broken and the enmity was formed before the duel, it wont change the hate from both sides.

We tried to address the Song-Ling issue.
And we might have actually succeeded. For all we know they are actually bonding over being absolutely wrecked in a fight and having to spend weeks in the medical pavilion together. People can resolve their issues without input from other some times.

Attempting to meddle past our duties as Arbiter, while they are still recovering, is not likely to be appreciated. Wait for them to be up and about again.
I'm not really sure, but we might have a bit more Arbitering to do here. So there might be another scene coming anyway. We've pretty much nailed down Hua Yin as someone who will attempt to de-escalate the situation if possible, so I don't see that forcing actions over it will change anything for the moment. They aren't a skill to be trained by repetition.
Even if they are still angry and spiteful, we'll need to give them some time to cool down anyway.

To be clear, I'm not saying "Just ignore them, we've done what we can." Heck, I'm not opposed to keeping our promise and at least saying something to Song Chyou (although if she's not receptive we should definitely back off and avoid pushing). What I am saying is that going and trying to broker some agreement is almost certainly doomed to failure, and given the situation may well make things worse. Basically, it seems high handed and tone deaf; in particular, the two goals of that writein, "get Song what she wants" and "allow Ling to keep as much face as possible" are probably incompatible, given that Song Chyou specifically refused to accept a rule about "no humiliation" -- that doesn't sound to me like she'd be willing to relent to allow Ling Daiyu to keep face, and indeed it may motivate her to push even harder.

I'm pretty sure things like a small amount of interaction with people have to be able to happen just in the background without an action. It just won't be doing things that require a significant investment of time and effort that dedicating either several hours every day day for a week or a whole day (I.E. an action) would.

We have been cultivating at the Supplicant's Tears as well, and both Fonts actually have 4 affinities each.
So we've been cultivating a broad range of things. Not sure if we'd have an attunement yet. A couple of barely trained techniques is unlikely to do much.

Supplicant's Tears: Life, Light, Water, Earth.
Kiss of Tribulation: Lightning, Storm, Metal, Celestial.
Thanks, I'd forgotten about the Metal one.
It increases our options for techniques even if we don't end up getting an affinity for it.

Hopefully we'll get Levin Step to the next level this week and then focus on Earth Defying Path. It is supposed to be a much better movement tech than the others available for Spirit Realm and we could def. use it to escape the Bei if they try to ambush us somewhere:

There are plenty of other movement techniques out there, but none of this quality that will be available to you soon. They would also cost more Qi and be more difficult.

This. We even tried to get the number of services down. Song agreed to go down to one, but Ling refused because she wanted to:

"Because I am going to break her. I'm going to make her an example for the next challenger.

I can't really be bothered to intervene on her behalf.

Basically this. Ling played stupid games and won stupid prizes. I'm not at all interested in saving her from the consequences of her actions.

I only care about her in relation to Lao Ai and Ming Xue, and at this point I barely care about them. I don't wanna waste actions saving someone that fucked around and found out.

I am really sad that none of the top votes include the study group with yang and tao. Especially after we kicked ass with yang at the party and right before we meet the saint.

I wonder how combat gains work, usually Yin would get some progress after fights, but the bunnies and this last fight that didn't end up happening. I wonder if it's because we're at a high enough skill level at this point it takes more.

Anyway In support of hanging out in the woods I would say it's more helpful than Levin Step if we want to go exploring next week.

[X] Plan - Plan Sword Saint
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Chu Quiang's martial arts class.
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Mao Yujing's cultivation study group. It will be held in the classroom. The Saint of Broken Swords will be addressing the class at the end of the week.
-[x] Attend duties in the Archives.
--[X] Try to find more about the sword saint (and saints in general) in the archive.
-[X] Study the Writ of the Broken Tree. Sure, it's mostly koans and philosophical musings, but Hua Yin has received cultivation insights within. He could study the Writ further and see what insights it could give. Hua Yin believed he was close to a breakthrough.
-[X] Study group with Tao Yangyuan and Yang Genji.

I know its probably too late to post a plan, but this is what I would have done. I guess im fine with either of the top ones winning though.

WIL (6) + CL (2) + 4 (Boosted Attuned Font) + 2 (Tianlang's Advice). Spirit Realm difficulty malus mitigated by Knowledge: Cultivation.
Hua Yin rolls 14 dice.
So at our current level I think our dice pool for Levin Step is: 7 (WIL) + 4 (CL) + 3 (Reduced Kiss bonus) = 14 dice + 2 rerolls from Midnight Visitation.

We need 10 successes to get to level 2, which doesn't seem likely on 1 action. I'd still rather save it for a week where we can use all our pills for another 6 or 7 dice.
