TreeQuest: Magitech (Riot Quest)

If we throw in all the Focus actions, and a decent number of Player actions, we'd probably manage it. But that's what it would take, I believe.

As a note, you only have 2 more turns of Fall before we head into Winter.
Yeah, player Actions tend to be pretty spread out as everyone votes for what they're interested in. I don't think that growing the forest would get enough Action votes to succeed before Winter so I'm aiming for as many Special Trees as we can get.
We'll need to help them figure out alternative building materials, as their not going to be able to expand forever off dead wood.
They're only 4 families so they're probably not going to expand very fast. The Forest is probably growing faster. :D

I'd let you pick that now, with the following extra conditions:
1. You pick a Defense Action this turn, next turn, and the turn after.
2. I'll penalize you 2 dice this vote, and 1 die on the next vote.
Thereafter, you're a full Research/Defense Tree. :)

Sounds good
I had planning those defense actions anyway, and while a penalty is obviously not great, it's only two turns, so the Forest should be fine

Should I vote for the Research/Defense tree, then?

I'll have you know that the eldest Miller boy is in the middle of wooing the eldest Tavish daughter. And Mrs. Yuadore is probably in the earliest stages of pregnancy. They're growing quite nicely. ;)

Yep! And note that you're getting 2 dice this turn, which is what you'd get from a Specialty as a non-Elder Tree.

If you vote Yes, please write-in (on a separate line) any ideas for how you want to approach first contact, what you would be interested in learning/gaining, what you have to offer, and so on. If you vote No, feel free to write in ideas anyway, just in case:
I missed this bit the first time around. Now Angelform's subvotes make more sense, though having subvotes with our ideas will make the tally more complicated.

I think we should contact Granny Miller in her dreams since she's the closest to a leader the village has. Once both sides trust each other more, we can build more dwellings inside the forest for people to hide under the shield. If that occurs, we'd want their fighters to help drive away any enemies.

[X][Action] Improve the friendly House tree. Perhaps make some baskets/bowl to store things in the way two legs like? Put some spare nuts and seeds in to have ready for the strange occasion.
[X][Focus] Stockpile Thorns
[X][Focus] Grow a Shield Tree
[X][Squirrel] Explore your Forest
[X][Deer] Assist with Prepare Dangerous Terrain
[X][Negotiate] No

I'm not a fan Negotiating now. We may get some friends and questions answered, but we will lose our secrecy and will get into Elf-Human political stuff. Humans and Elves are both much larger entities than we see a know about. The "…impression that both Northern and Southern paths eventually lead to cities, but also that the two cities are quite different." could be a hint that we a sitting on the border of human and elf territories. I just don't want to stumbling into a complex situation like now. Maybe the birds can gossip about the distant cities?

On my project angle of "friendly House tree" it's more on thing of better have it and not need it, than need it but not have it. Maybe "skills?" in basket weaving could tie into a relationship with birds nest?
A start on bed "sleeping nest" would probably be good too, but my only idea for blankets and sheets would be something like cork tree bark. (I don't know if we have trees that shed bark or if that is healthy with winter coming.)

[X][Focus] Grow a Shield Tree x2
[X][Squirrel] Practice riding deer
[X][Deer] Train for War
[X][Negotiate] Yes
[X][Tree] Creator Tree

[X][Action] Store Resources Against Future Need
Y'know i was thinking about doing another action but i was reminded that winter is coming so i'll only consider the other votes when it's here because i feel it is both thematically and mechanically appropriate to store resources for winter.
Also side note i'm going to say something that i was always thinking about but never said, i will only vote for actions within my specialization, when i was choosing what tree i wanted to be i was choosing with the intention of only doing those for the rest of my tree life.

@Robinton , for the second evolution, do we need to take care about our future actions or can we just automatically qualify for the evolution of our new Tree type? (Like Creator Tree -> Evolved Creator Tree)

I noticed that not many people are voting on whether to negotiate so I thought I'd post my thoughts on the matter in hopes that we'll get more discussion about it.

The reason I'm voting Yes is because we already know that an enemy is going to appear before the end of the year. There are 3 scenarios I can think of:

1) The villagers will also be attacked by the enemy. In that case, having an agreement in place as soon as possible will help protect both sides, and we can ask for information about possible enemies and magic tips right away.

2) The enemy will only attack the forest, not the villagers. The villagers can range from helping us to helping the enemy. We don't know enough to tell how they'll react, but apparently their magic users aren't very good so I don't think the threat will scale too much if they help the enemy.

3) The villagers are the enemy. They might respond to our contact by calling off their attack or by attacking more viciously, but we already know an enemy will appear so I don't think the threat will scale very much. They could delay to call for backup from a city, but the Forest grows pretty fast and will grow even faster with the new Elder Trees.

Basically, I think that the best case scenario makes more of a difference to our present situation than the worse case scenario does. I can see wanting to delay until we get more information, but it took 10 turns to get the squirrels and then the deer on our side so I don't know if we'll manage to recruit the birds before the enemy appears. Also, the current efforts seem to be on recruiting the beavers.

If Grow a Shield Tree wins both Focus votes, then we should have another Shield Tree next turn. Prepare Dangerous Terrain only has 1 vote right now though, and we need 6 successes to complete it. I can see wanting to delay a turn to finish it if everyone wants to do that, but that also mean putting off any potential benefits from the negotiation if the villagers are helpful or remain neutral. Thoughts?

Most interested in learning about magic and humanoid culture. Obviously we don't want them chopping us down, but there's dead wood and fruit we could offer, and the partnership of the local squirrels and deer.

Ancient Trees, and yes, you are always allowed to pick a simple upgrade, regardless of what you chose to vote for in the meantime. And I think I would call your simple upgrade "Ancient Creator Tree".
