TreeQuest: Magitech (Riot Quest)

So, my new theory is that the magic sword was created by some sort of animal chauvinist. But TWO can play at that game!

[X] [Action] Get some of the squirrels to try out the magic sword, and see if it responds to animals better than to fruit.

Not a bad idea. Since the Forest hasn't actually figured out how to properly activate the thing yet, working towards that probably makes more sense and is more likely to get good results than poking it with random things and seeing how the random things change.

You do know that it remains cool, regardless of sunlight or surroundings. So it clearly has some effect, though presumably it's "off" in some sense right now. You haven't found any sort of obvious levers or switches or anything, so the method of activation... Give it a swing at a target? Will it to activate? Let a Human pick it up? Who knows, at this point.

How to imbue an object with magic is not something the Forest yet understands, either. I mean, clearly it's possible. And clearly some of your own Trees qualify, so you sort-of have a methodology, you guess? Of course, properly analyzing that is a rather long and complicated process - 50 successes total, actually. ;)

(And even after Basics of Magic - be aware of the high probability of Unknown Unknowns. You don't even know all the right questions to ask, yet.)

So we have confirmed that there is no hidden elf village or bandit camp without our territory. Good news.

Humm… we can probably also conclude that the sword isn't intelligent. Such was never likely but intelligent weapons are far from unknown.

Not as far as you are able to tell. You are fairly confident that you would be able to tell.

In fact, barring the thing being invisible to Telepathy (then and now alike) or some very weird shenanigans, you'd have detected it back in your first scan when you learned that there were no Minds (ignoring your own Trees) within your Forest.

Probability something weird and complicated is going on: 1-10%. Probability this sword has no mind, not even an awareness on the level of an animal: 90-99%.

What season are we on? Did we get a mild hailstorm at the end of summer or do i have a wrong track of when it changes.

@Robinton
Suggestion: For future turns (keeping things as they are this turn but possibly shifting next turn); perhaps instead of formatting focuses as

[Focus] Action
[Focus] Action x2

We could instead do

[Focus] Action
[Focus x2] Action

So a hailstorm in the middle of summer? I think I'll blame it on the magic because otherwise the local natural weather may be very silly this year.
