In Fine, Solum Est Tibi (A Quest in Rome, During The Fall of the Republic)

Well, at least you have (Does another roll, a d12)

5, near hyper-competent badasses who are willing to follow you, who are loyal to the wealth and possible prestige you may bring to them, as well as...

Well, you'll see.

Also, I said I would get the rules and mechanics, but it will come tonight.

...

You know what, forget about it, all I will say is that you are highly competent in your skills.

reason I don't use polymath is that the skills I'm talking about are the stats and skills for your charecter.
Ah, sorry if I came off as rude or something like that, I didn't mean it like that.

Please Note that this is a modified version of the Rules created by the Wonderful @Plausitivity, so thank him for this.

Rules
May contain violence, intrigue, slavery and manipulation, etc.

There will be mentions of slavery, torture, exploitation, rape, all the fun stuff.

Be excellent with each other.

There will be more added, but for now.

Mechanics
This will be a system run on d100, but unlike previous quests I have done with this system, this will take a far more narrative approach, instead of choosing actions and vaulting on through them. You will only be given a very small number of choices, and you will need to decide what is right and what you can actually accomplish.

There will be many smaller, shorter turns for character interactions, and battles, unless you actively take part in them, or do special actions within the battle... will be only summarized in reports.

Stats are a representation of how good you are at a general aspect mentally. Usually, stats are what you use to interact in person. YOu can only gain them by learning from others, like a teacher.

Skills are a representation of how good you are at doing something practically. You can gain increases in a skill by using it. You cannot gain skills the same way as stats, since skills are practical. Usually, skills are for interaction outside the personal scope. You can train to use said skills as well, but after a certain point, it will only be through actions that you can gain that coveted 25

If you only read but never lead, then you'll have a rude awakening when going into battle… But the same could be said for always leading and never reading.

Increasing a stat or skill will take time and effort, and the better you are, the harder it is to get better. Unlike La Chanson, you will actually have to commit to the areas to gain said stat or skill, over multiple choices and actions. There will be actions that require skills or stats.

(Level 25)(+20 Modifier) (Reroll on all failed rolls)

Critical Rolls:
Natural Crits occur at 90-100, while Natural Fails are 1-5. You can negate a Nat. Fail if a bonus is applied to the roll, just be reasonable in the application of points (don't cheese).

Crits add another d100 to the roll and can explode (add another roll if that d100 results in a 95-100, and so on), so that's fun.

Artificial Crits are rolls that are boosted over 100 with bonuses and can be rerolled only once more.

Natural Crits can keep exploding if you're lucky.

Crit bonuses are arbitrary and subject to my own machinations. So I may forget things. Or you know, do something stupid.

Once again, unlike La Chason, this quest will not have a reputation meter.

You are going to have to invest actions and your spies (if you have any) into finding out what the Senate, the People or even your soldiers think of you.

Good luck.

  • [X]Plan: Lone Wolf
    -[X] Claudia Nerva
    -[X]
-[X]Daughter: The Gods cursed him for a time, with an only child being a daughter. But soon he forgot such majesties and treated you not as a girl, but as his heir.
-[X]You are an only child. The Gods cursed your Father, and thus, made you alone in your family name.
-[X]The Patrician You are a patrician, the true nobility of Rome, the upper class of the Republic. Yours is an ancient family, hailing back to the very founding of Rome itself, and some would say even older than that, following Aeneas, all the way from Troy. Once, your family had numerous branches across the Republic, and were respected and held in high regard by the people and the Senate of Rome alike. But one by one, your line died out and your name fell into disrepute, from the plague, from war to Hannibal's butchery of Canne massacring several lines all at once. The name you have quickly devolved from respect to something of the dredges of society becoming associated with flesh merchants and slavers. A member of your family has not held the Consulate, or even sat in the Senate, for well over a century. Your father, through his actions, has started well on the path to restoring the long-lost honor of your name, but with him dead, the legacy of your family rests upon your shoulders.
    [X] Plan: A son earning a seat
    -[X] Felix Flavius
    -[X]
-[X]Son: Ah, a Gift from the Gods themselves, a man to carry on your Family's name and Legacy
-[X]You have siblings: Your Mother survived your birth and gave your father more children (Will roll a d8 for the number of siblings that you have.)
-[X]The Plebian You are a plebian, one of the common folk. Your family is a family of soldiers and has been for as far back as memory can reach. The most famous of your family, a respected hero Flavius, won laurels for his service in the Punic Wars against Carthage over a hundred years ago, and even rose to sit on the Senate. He rose through glory from his actions and deeds in service to the Republic, a soldier to the bone, and that legacy still runs in your family. His achievements were the very apex of your family name, and are the reason you can count yourselves among the nobilis of Rome, those authorized to sit on the Senate. His glory was a height your father strove to reach but could never match. As a soldier and a plebian alike, you will have more support among both the army and the people, facilitating a rise through the ranks of Roman government, but you will be looked down upon by the largely patrician Senatorial class -- the very class you seek to join.

I shall say this once and for all:

Am I a fool for spending so much on planning and preparing everyone for the thing.

No it's the dice that is insane!
