In Fine, Solum Est Tibi (A Quest in Rome, During The Fall of the Republic)

Regardless of our ambitions, we really need to watch out for Octavian, he will be our downfall unless we deal with him quickly.
Why not give birth to Octavian? Depending on of course, if we are a woman or not.
That said, I wouldn't mind actually playing a somewhat traditional Roman woman who tries to control and have her family control the political landscape from behind the scenes, working on furthering her husband's career and so on instead of trying to muscle in on male roles.
I mean that is a legitimate playstyle that I have planned for, so if that is your cup of tea, your cup of tea.
EDIT: Also Sidenote, how much of Roman syncretism can we realistically affect? Got a few ideas that have us essentially have Aphrodite and Ishtar finally be recognized as one and the same, but with a more...Mycenean twist on it
You are half Greek from your mother and she imparted on you, some of the more Greek Blessings that you will see in creation….

Looking at you Zagreus.

I kinda doubt we'll have to deal with that Kid any time soon. He's not even born by the time this begins and, for all we know, he may never be. Or he may even grow up to be a completely different Person.

I'm glad, if I wanted to command armies and climb the cursus honorum (and do what most other quests do) I'd be voting for a male character.
Funny, because I still wanna do that, if only for the fact that it completely shakes up Roman Society to have a Woman do this.
But we'll see which Playstyle we choose in the end.

Hey I may be terrible at finishing quests, at least in terms of satisfying conclusions, but when I plan a quest, I go hard on planning, for everything.

It's probably why I lose interest in certain quests, the planning is more fun then the actual questing itself.

Hell we could be the kids mom or grandmother.

[X] Plan Lone Wolf
Hard mode lets go!
What would Female "A New Man" be? Impossible mode?

Regardless of our ambitions, we really need to watch out for Octavian, he will be our downfall unless we deal with him quickly.
Thinking too far ahead, We're around the same age Caesar, Octavius's Grand Nephew. We'll be in our mid-50s by the time he's even approaching adulthood. Assuming he's even born.

Expect noblemen to make a pass at us. Especially that horndog Caesar.

That said, I wouldn't mind actually playing a somewhat traditional Roman woman who tries to control and have her family control the political landscape from behind the scenes, working on furthering her husband's career and so on instead of trying to muscle in on male roles.
Personally I'm trying to do a Expeditions: Rome Female Legate Quest so I'll be working against that if I can. Apriggina the Younger got as far as any roman woman could in the traditional (well semi-traditional) role of the Roman Woman and it worked well, until her soon decided to be a fuckwit and screw her over. Getting to power as a Roman Woman depends too much on controlling men who can utterly screw us over. Marrying into power worked well for the French Revolution Quest but personally I wanna see something different, I want our character to have a Triumph in her honor.

However I don't see how you plan to put a Mycenaean twist on her considering she was not Mycenaean?
Most of the ideas revolve around strengthening the chthonic ideals of the various gods and goddesses of the Hellenic pantheons (or at least, within their inpretatio graecea incarnations), but specifically in this case it would be taking the story of Inanna's Descent to the Underworld and tying it far more strongly into the story of Aphrodite's rivalry with Persephone over Adonis, maybe even suggesting that Adonis had been a mortal Incarnation of a god (Zagreus, Hades or Mars) the goddesses are sisters of a sorts, given that Inanna's calling Ereshkigal as her elder sister.

Nice.

I am death incarnate mode.

You have a non 0% chance of actually getting into significant power. And the rest is getting fucked (figuratively and possibly literally) by romes political and social system.

There's a few people that may still exist once the quest starts.

The only one certain to exist is Jesus.

If you actually become a legate (a not so easy feat in and of itself) you would have already make waves in rome.

Yes, and this balancing act makes it in my opinion so much more interesting than what could be crassly described as a male playthrough but an extra hard one. Let's be honest, quests like that are a dime a dozen, while I don't recall a quest in which the MC climbs up the ranks within the strict constraints of her society that she can never truly break free from.

Yeah you see I want a challenge and to make Rome angry, not deal with the quest equivalent of fighting of a bear while naked and covered in raw meat, and my only weapon is a puzzle box I have to solve in five minutes or else the bomb in my neck explodes.

You see I really want to have Cato so angry about us he has a stroke Denouncing us on the Senate Floor.

Add the fact that you're pregnant and will have to give birth sometime soon, as well as the meat being slathered in honey, and that should be accurate enough a description.

And I have no interest in limiting ourselves like this.

But like I said, we'll see which Style wins out.

I wonder if we could take advantage of the Spartacus uprising when it happens.
"Non possum multum tibi offerre pro electione vel honore, sed sic iuro, arenas vertetur in campos tritici et vix et panis in loco circensium."
I cannot offer you much in the way of choice or honor, but so I swear, the Arenas will be turned to fields of wheat and barely and Bread made in the place of Games.

Honestly, I'd love to see us being the savviest political operator in Rome. While I'd also like to do a military grunt quest as well, something about becoming the female Sejanus(except much better a person) is so... appealing, in a way.

That would be nice...but I kinda doubt we can pull that off.

And much as it pains me to say it, one thing I simply do not see us getting rid of within the frame of this Quest is Slavery in Rome. I'm afraid we'll just have to accept that one.

[X] Plan: A son earning a seat

Ok if GM is going to keep these somewhat historical accurate playing as a woman would be a huge determinant to saving the republic, making money, or political power. If we want to save the republic that will involve military power which means legion. Which women are not allowed in. If we want to make serious money that means trade and frankly most people do not trade with a women at this time in major ways. Political power again need to be a man if you are not going to the Vestrail virgins.

I was referring more to the Gladiatorial games in this instance, but as for Slavery in general, I don't think it'd be too far out of bounds for us to create the groundwork for an Abolitionist movement, likely with Spartacus as a central figure.

[X] Plan Lone Wolf

This for now. Might change my mind later. Let the chaos begin because that's what its gonna be in the time period.

I mean the GM was inspired by something that had Roman Women in the Military while acknowledging Rome's massive Sexism and they've said you can do military stuff as a woman just that it will make waves.

Some us are picking a female PC and hoping to aim for military stuff because we're aiming for something specific, something admittedly difficult but possible in the quest.

[X] Plan: A son earning a seat

I'd much rather not do a "for the gender revolution" playstyle. Not this quest anyways.
