Puella Magi Persona Magica!

Wednesday March 16th, Timeline 1/???: Awakened, Part 2
"Come, Goethe." It was meant to be an exclamation, but it comes out surprisingly flat from your lips, you're unsure if it's the strange slowing of the world or some sort of shock upon your mind, but the world around you seems to distort as you summon it, and you stare at the figure.

It stares back at you, eyes staring out from what seems like a hole in reality, torn cloak the covers. It is eerily silent, even as the area seems to fill with whispers of babbling and chittering.
a connection made, a bond renewed
You blink, feeling like the coherent whispers are important. You weren't sure what they meant, but...they likely had to do with the fact the thing-and you, you note-are back in glorious color.
the lynchpin will heed your words, but listen true
You are distracted by sound, eyes snapping up as footsteps crack loudly in the silence. You look around for the source, but frown as no one seems to be moving, still.
dreams will be remembered, and time's grasp forbade
That...sounded good? Bad? You weren't certain, because what it was saying was cryptic. But you finally had a clear source for the clicking of heels as a raven haired girl rounded the nearest street corner, violet eyes locking onto you with intensity that made your heart hammer in it's chest. With a click, her hand entered the shield that sat on her forearm.
the source of love's obsession, your guide to a new dawn
At first, her presence was a relief-she seemed like she was smooth, calm, and confident in this strange slow down, so clearly she'd know what to do! But her eyes flicked to the being that moved to float protectively in front of you and widened, before her hand snapped out of the shield and she took three steps forward, three sharp cracks your only warning as the creature jerked three times, sending a stab of pain into your head each time. You could've worn the bullets seemed to be slowing down just before they hit, but...

"W-why are you shooting at me?!" Your voice was shrill, but you scrambled backwards, trying to run as best you could without taking your eyes off of the girl. You-you needed her to back off-

And as you gave that thought, the thing reacted, a shadowy tendril shooting from the hole and lancing past the raven haired girl, barely missing her head. She dropped into a roll to the right, pistol disappearing into the shield as she charged the persona-you weren't sure why that term came up from your mind-and hauled out a heavier machine gun, jamming it in the face of Goethe.

It definitely couldn't survive that, and that had hurt! It needed to-to disappear! You squeezed your eyes shut as a single gunshot rang out in the silence, and it took you a few seconds to realize that there was no stab of pain. Then, a rough hand pulling you turn your feet...and squeezing tightly on your arm. You opened your eyes to those same violet eyes, radiating fury.

"Where did it come from, and how are you able to move!" You startled, trying to pull away, eyes wild. The girl just kept a tight, inhuman grip on you, and stared. "Talk!"

[] Lie. You don't know why she seemed so violent towards the Persona, but she clearly hated it-and you wouldn't even be really lying, because you don't actually know the answers!
[] Tell the truth. That the weird distortion in the world opened up and was trying to swallow you, so you...called for the Persona, and it answered. You were really slow in this strange greyed out world, but once it came out things went back to normal. Relatively speaking.

---------
Your QM may or may not have had the wrong description for that, but you can probably infer what it is despite the fact it's never appeared in canon(to my knowledge)

Yeah, I was wondering how people were gonna react to our "Persona", not that I know which one this is. She might think we're an MG- "how are you able to move" has a double meaning here. So we were moving in her time stop (which was started last update, huh), she noticed and came, sees a "witch" moving in time stop and panics.
Everything, comes to a halt, a brief shudder the only movement. Your body moves, but it is like every movement takes herculean effort and is working through the pressure of the ocean depths. But by the same token that you could resist the Kiss that fell upon you, this too is something that constricts and constrains your ability to Choose, and as such your power resists it.
==========
You were really slow in this strange greyed out world, but once it came out things went back to normal.
Well, she's pretty frazzled right now so I don't know which option is better. I'm hoping for our sincerity to get through to her, though.
Also threadmark

...Alright, so I was off, that's a witch. Probably should've realized that earlier, but hey, at least I realized it once it hit me in the face. :D

Anyways, taking into account our character's mental state, which is probably pretty frazzled at this point (even putting aside the fact that she's super shy), I'm not sure we would be ready to have a coherent conversation with the crazy girl who was just trying to shoot us and is now threatening us.

[x] Lie. You don't know why she seemed so violent towards the Persona, but she clearly hated it-and you wouldn't even be really lying, because you don't actually know the answers!

I'm going to be entirely honest I think this could potentially backfire and put us in opposition with Homura but to be honest, I'm all for it we always befriend Homura in quests so having her taking potencially an antagonistic role is interesting for me.

I'm entirely expecting the MC to befriend/tolerate Homura eventually even if that happens to be honest but man it would be fun to read that.

Gah. Sorry for the lateness(by two hours or so, but it's the princple of the thing!), I'll try to get it out as soon as possible

Wednesday March 16th, Timeline 1/???: Stained With Color
"U-uh, I heard a weird voice in my head that tried to get me to walk into the alley and then when I stopped myself from moving, I heard another weird voice that told me to say it's name as everything got grey and so I did-um, Goethe, was it's name, I think it's called a Persona?-" You bulldoze through the fact that the violet girl's fury disappears with a sharp gasp and is replaced with an equal amount of fear, "-and then the thingy you shot appeared and then it said some stuff, that's um-" you furrow your brow as you realize that it's kind of hard to recall that information, and you're rambling, but at the same time the weird girl is still holding a machine gun while she's yelling at you, so you don't want to stop talking, "-and then you came around the corner and shot at me and it took the bullets then you-"

"Shut up and let me think!" You go silent and shiver at that, though you're pretty sure she's not really...angry, anymore, just very overwhelmed-and still a little scared?-so you stay quiet, staring uneasily in her close grip. Then, suddenly, she releases you andhops backwards, creating some distance.

"She, she summoned one of Mad-that witch's familiars? How? Why? It defended her, and it didn't seem to do anything except when I tried to attack her., and it attacked me..." You get the feeling you shouldn't be hearing her mutter and think out loud like this, but you certainly aren't going to try to say that she probably shouldn't say anything when she's still got a gun. But she seems to fall silent as she begins to pace nervously.

You wait for a good ten seconds before you clear your throat, making her attention snap back to you. Then, her face softens from the hard look, looking...sympathetic? Yes, sympathetic. If you had to compare it, it was like those scenes in anime in which somebody looked at someone and had an inner monologue how they understood. She stowed the gun, tilting her head slightly. "You...really don't know anything?" There was a question mark, but you got the feeling it was more of a statement.

Unfortunately, this also meant that you started to feel maybe a little less threatened, and as she looks on, you begin to shake slightly. Only now, that you're not in imminent danger, does it really hit you that you just got shot at. And that you've got a really bad headache. And...that none of this would've happened if you'd just...stayed at home. As your eyes start to water, you bring up your arm to wipe them away. You-you can't afford to cry. Not right now. Eve-even though you got shot at!(Or did you get shot? Was Goethe any different from you?) And would've died if the...Persona, it was...didn't take the bullets for you!

But despite your efforts, you only seem to be crying harder. In the brief glimpses before you sweep back to clear the tears again, you see...Violet, you'll call her until you have a name, seem very awkward. She seems to step forward, arm raising up, before she pulls back, frowning deeply. Then, she seems to make a decision, pivoting on a heel and marching into the alley, her footsteps disappearing after a few moments...and as you begin to move after her the world blooms into color again, and sound returns.
Blonde hair bobs above the tops of the buildings, and a gleaming, soothing light comes from the beret atop them.
...and you feel that door still there, present, but at the same time your chest feels tight and you can't stop crying. Because you're pretty sure you should've died. Probably.

[] ...Violet has to has answers, right? She-she disappeared and the world got normal. She seems to know that something's up. Even if she's scary, she's really your only answer for what happened.
[] Try to get the groceries. It's what you're here for, right? That...that had to have all been some sort of freak hallucination. Just..get the groceries, and go home. And maybe wonder if you're crazy.
[] You've had enough time outside today. You don't want to know what this Persona thing you keep thinking of is about, you don't want to risk getting shot at again. Go home. You can just lie to Kure-san, tell her you couldn't handle it.
[] Just slump against the wall and...let the tears fall. You're terrified. The adrenaline's fading. You wish your father was here, and that mother wasn't 3 hours away.

For reference, all of the possible options were PMMM Witch familiars. Your existence is a direct result of a Madoka's actions.

Bit of a typo though, I assume you meant 'has to have answers'

Edit: ...Made a typo myself, I originally wrote 'as to have'

Huh, from the way Homura is speaking here, I guess we're post-Rebellion?

In any case, as much as I would love to take the meme option and just go pick up the groceries, I also wanna talk to Homura.

Oh, and as an aside, were all of our potential Personas going to be vaguely Faustian, or is that special for Madoka?

Yeah let's just let our character have a break, She just had a gun pointed to her face.

Oh by the way AllyDJ, since I noticed you were reading my Quest Persona: The Beautiful a few days ago, I was curious to know what you think of it so far?

Specifically Madoka; for instance the option to have your Persona be Love(the missing Clara Doll) would have been more referential to Nutcracker.

Just one of the votes, please. If you still want to get the groceries, then that will also cover ditching the strange hole in the world and assuming Homura(or, rather, 'Violet') will take care of it.

It's very good. I'd recommend it wholeheartedly.

i should've reacted on it's posts but i was binging the whole thing at the time, and kinda forgot you could because I've lurked on so many quests.

EDIT: To extrapolate a little further, it's an interesting twist to see Persona users being assholes, while still having some reason beyond 'either we work together or the world ends' to stay as a rough group.

I'm conflicted between the groceries option and going after Homura. On one hand what sounds like denial would be interesting, but at the same time attempting to catch back with Homura...

It's our only lead at the moment... shrug.

Hidden option seems very in character, but let's not ignore our Call to Adventure!

Wednesday March 16th, Timeline 1/???: A Contract Offered
You wipe away your tears one more time before moving into the alley. The gap in reality still stands there, and after a brief hesitation you force yourse-

-lf in, and you blink at the area around you. The wind howls loudly, and you can feel it pulling at you even as you gaze out over what seems to be a construction site, steel girders raising endlessly towards the sky. Rope bridges link the girders together, and sporadically finished pieces seem to simply exist while others are half finished. Across it all, you seem hammers with legs and arms that bash themselves into the girders, seemingly ignoring your presence.

Then you catch sight of your gloved hands and blink, looking down at your outfit. You wear a puffy pink dress with a poofy skirt that has two exaggerated darker pink bows at your sides. The center of the torso section of the dress has buttons and is colored white, while your shoulders are covered by short sleeves. A gem with a kaleidoscope of colors hangs from a choker around your neck-you pink out most relevantly pink, purple, red, gold, blue, and velvet among them, but you swear you see a faint snow white intertwined with vibrant orange, as well. You are...rather uncertain what caused this, but you also feel Goethe, the Persona, lurking in your mind, as if reassuring you they will be there to protect you.

So you begin to run across rope bridges, eyes scanning for the violet eyed girl. You aren't sure how many you run across before you hear the snap of a gunshot, right as you feel part of the world quiver, you think in the direction that you came from-but the verticality and mazelike bridges don't help. You charge in the direction of the gunshot, idly noting what appears to be shattered nails lying about.

And then...you see her, the violet eyed girl, pistol in hand. She seems to be heading towards the finished center of the skyscraper-down-with purpose, but before you can chase further a giant, person sized nail embeds itself in the wooden plank in front of you, and you stumble backwards as it sprouts hands to pull itself out. "G-Goethe! Help!" You plead, and the gem on your chest shines with bright light as the Persona leaps from it. You blink as information seems to slam into your head-

Goethe, ??? Arcana
Abilities: Tendril of Salvation, Eiha, Kouha

-and you frown. "Um, Eiha!" And one of it's eyes glows balefully as bubbling blackness seeps at the giant nail, but seems to do little, even as orients yourself towards you and you eep, scrambling to the side to dodge it's charge, Goethe nimbly floating upwards and reorienting itself towards the Sha-Fami-you feel a faint pain in the fore of your skull as you try to term the thing, but shake it off.

"Goethe, just kill it!" You call, and the tendril it shot at Akemi shoots out, wrapping around the nail and squeezing, bending it until it snaps in half...and soothing relief washes over your mind. You stand up, seeing Violet disappear into a door, and you scramble to follow-you hear distant gunshots behind you-and then the world seems to drown out in greyness again, everything stopping. You continue moving, but moments after you hear a muffled BOOM and the world fades back into color, even as you get a twisting feeling in your gut...

And then you stumble, faceplanting into concrete. As you pick yourself up, you dimly recognize you're somehow on the roof of the grocery store, Goethe seemingly gone as you behold...

What seems to be some sort of tense, wordless standoff between the blond girl from your apartment lobby, and the violet haired girl...who actually seems to be staring more at the white cat...rabbit...thing? that sits on the blonde girl's shoulder. And then the blonde girl relaxes, directing a radiant smile at both of you-you note that your clothes are back to normal, now-and steps forwards. "I'm afraid I don't know who you are, but were you saving this Potential from that witch?" She seems genuine, but you note that there's the briefest hint of hurt in Violet's eyes at the implication of being unknown.

"No, sh-I didn't even know she was in the Barrier." Violet glances at you, brows furrowing, before redirecting her attention to the blonde. She...did seem really focused, despite the fact that you were chasing her.

"Hm...well, I'm Tomoe Mami. You're welcome to stay in my territory, so long as you keep people safe from Familiars and Witches. As for you..." She directs her attention at you, and you shy away a bit, "How would you like to become a magical girl in exchange for a wish?" You blink, and before you can respond, the cat rabbit thing jumps off from her shoulder and pads up to you.

"I am Kyubey! Your Potential is...strange. It seems to be the greatest I have ever seen...while simultaneously being barely enough to Contract, but I believe I am able to form one. Do you have a Wish?" It-Kyubey speaks, but it's more like it's voice sounds in your skull than it talked. You gape, shocked speechless, and look at Mami and then Violet with wide eyes. Violet seems to begin to speak up, before biting her lip...and then she speaks again.

"There are things it is not saying that Mami does not know. You will be cutting your life short...but if you have a Wish that is worth your soul, then I will not stop you. You...may also ask for suggestions. I suppose." Kyubey's head inclines more, as Violet's voice does the same it's did. You get an impression over it that she wants to prevent you from signing this contract at all, but that she has some answer she wants that requires you to do so. You also get the implication the 'does not' is...stressed.

"You'll have to fight those monsters called Witches and their Familiars to protect others, but I assure you that it's worth it to protect people. I can...I can teach you, too, so it won't be as dangerous. And we could...all work in a group, maybe?" She seems cautiously hopeful, but you note that beyond a minute frown Violet says nothing regarding it.

You feel like maybe you should...ask questions. It said your Potential, whatever that is, was weird, but didn't say what that meant. There were-were things that you thought might be worth Wishing for, but some sense of caution keeps you from making a snap decision.

[] Write In questions to ask
- [] If you have a Wish, what is it?

Contracts are important. You should always read the fine print, but they open many doors. On a more meta note, don't expect some sort of setting breaking wish to be possible, despite QB's words about your potential. I advise estimating yourself to be similar to Sayaka in ability as a Magical Girl, if you think it's worth becoming one at all. That's not to say you can't shoot for the stars, but be aware that overestimating your latent ability may handicap you in way beyond it.

Um...

If we ask any questions about our souls being taken or where witches come from will that trigger Mami's trauma and cause a bad end?

Saying it in front of Mami is a bad idea, hence Homura using Telepathy, but it won't trigger a bad end-you will, however, not be able to pursue Mami's social link this loop, regardless of whether she survives the ensuing engagement or not.

EDIT: I would also like to clarify that you can use telepathy yourself, as QB has hooked you into the network now.

EDIT EDIT: Edited Homu's words a bit, as well.

There were-were things
Was repeating 'were' intentional here?

In any case...

I don't really know what we should ask, honestly. Would we recognize them from the vision we had? That might be a place to start.

Also, just found some invisitext from the first post that I don't think was noted then:

>In Madoka Magica, isolation and secrecy kills girls as much as Witches do.
>In Persona, the key to success is establishing bonds of trust and understanding with those around you.
>Remember those facts.

And a fun invisible option from last vote:

>[] Just slump against the wall and...let the tears fall. You're terrified. The adrenaline's fading. You wish your father was here, and that mother wasn't 3 hours away.

So now I kinda wanna go for broke. We're already near rock-bottom, no friends, our dad's dead, lonely as all hell from our mom just handing us over to some random lady. So screw it. From a meta perspective, I'm not sure if it's worthwhile, and we may still be a bit cautious, but IC, how would you react if someone told you you could wish for just about whatever you want? Homura obliquely telling us not to notwithstanding. Please correct me if I ask about information we shouldn't have in-character.

[x]What was going on just now in there?
[x]What does being a magical girl entail?
[x]What exactly is this 'Potential'?
[x]Do you also have a Persona?
[x]How specific does our Wish have to be? Are you going to try to mess us over with it like a genie?
[x] (Wish) I wish someone cared about me.

Kinda wanna ask about the others, but it doesn't seem like we've actually connected these girls to our weird vision IC yet, so I won't bother yet. Maybe once we get their names? Also, I'm not sure about the wording of that wish (as evidenced by that last question lel), but I think it makes a lot of sense in the context of our character. We have no friends, everyone thinks we're frigid, from our perspective, nobody gives a damn about us. Let's change that through this very convenient wish thingy which I'm sure has no negative consequences! I'm sure Violet's just being a negative nancy. She chose to become a magical girl herself, didn't she?! :V
