Plus if we put off the latter, it'll benefit from the Koans, and maybe breaking to mid initiate a week later will give Li Gai time to break through himself? The latter's more wishful thinking, but inviting another Awakened at Mid Initiate in the same week we break through is not going to do good things to the kid's confidence.

Mechanically the Koans aren't that good, sure it makes sense to do them before you need to pass a test, but other than that there's no real reason unless there is some limited time opportunity as it just adds dice.

The problem with Gai is that he's not awakened. It's not a fixable problem. It's compounded by the fact that everyone else in our little group is. He either gets over it, finds a new friend group, or let's it consume him. We could use actions if we wanted to try and help with the first or third. I personally don't.

Oh, if we needed Mid Initiate this week I'd be going for it regardless of Gai's feelings. I'm just aware waiting a week could make things a bit less tense if we do end up inviting Song Chyou to breakfast.

As far as the Koan's go I expect completing the Writ to give some kind of permanent bonus (or at least better than some one-off dice), and even if it doesn't timing the actions so it gives us more dice for our Week 8 exam would still be beneficial.

She is good at cultivation, extremely into alchemy, and knows how to be a nice person.

Helping friends with their study is something that Hua Yin did back home. If some people are going to get snobby about who they are studying with, they can leave.

People, I would try to maximize the chances of being at the top of the cultivation class so that they give us the martial art and not seek it ourselves ... What do you think?

-[X] Go to the introductory talismongering class. He had done alright in the class, definitely in the upper tier. Sure, he was behind Lao Ai, but she seemed to have brought prior knowledge to the class. He still felt like he was in the running for the top slot.
-[X] Start a study group for the cultivation class. Maybe some of the high-performing students would like to get together and make each other better. Hua Yin could at least approach Tao Yangyuan, Lao Ai, and Yang Genji to see if they were interested. Hua Yin thought about adding Zhe Chao but his intuition told him that would be a bad idea.

I was going to vote for this plan but Feng Chaoxiang gives me a bit of a bad feeling ... that he tried to recruit Song Chyou that fast ... Uuummm

I don't wanna focus our aim on it. Doing that seems like it would make us drop many of our other pursuits, or at least leave them to lag even further behind.

Since Midnight Visitation won, I think our long term goal should be to thrive in places with low ambient qi. This means I am inclined to vote for whatever role gets us to travels out of the Broken Tree, and outside is obviously dangerous, so a well rounded cultivator is must for me currently.

Just curious why folks are voting not to have the group study session? We need to study cultivation as much as we can before the exams.
