Main things I wanna do are test out our new cultivation technique at a fitting Font and start up the study group because the exam is in two turns.
@DangerKitty Think you'd be cool with adding this to the fighting style action btw?--[X] Look for one that looks like it would suit the Levin Step. Or better yet, ask Guan Zhi to come along and help you pick one that'd suit your strengths? He seems to be familiar with this sort of thing.
[X] Offer something else (Write-in).
-[X] Invite her and Feng Chaoxiang to your new study group. Maybe she'll make some more friends? She just broke through as well so maybe they'll appreciate her insights.
It seems like Song can't read, or at least read well. So taking the highest academic performers and mixing them with a girl who can't read and Feng who seems like a good guy but isn't academically minded. Plus Hua thinks the girl who was making fun of Song is Lao Ai's friend, who we are also inviting to the group."Reading isn't great." Gao Jin said. Embarrassment leaked through his taciturn façade.
"My fighting isn't great. That is what friends are for." Hua Yin started reading the board out loud, his diction clear and well enunciated. His accent was such that no one would have been able to tell that he and Gao Jin were from the same city. Gao Jin listened intently, seeming to commit the contents of the board to memory. Gao Jin didn't seem to be the only person who needed help. The stocky looking peasant girl and a few others paused and listened in as well.
limited time. I want to make sure we pass this cultivation class and get the special technique from the teacher first and foremost. Getting our own martial style needs to be done so that we can start working on it. i don't want to put it off forever and then we get the wooden hand so high that it would take us a ridiculous amount of actions to catch up to it in our new style. Then we can write in to use the new style during our physical training actions and practice the levin step on our own time and still have time to study for cultivation class. It will cause a dip in our spar performance, but imo its worth it and necessary. I don't want to sunk cost fallacy getting a new style and facts are, we aren't going to make it to the "advanced" class and rise to the top of the class by using styles and techniques that don't synergize, so the faster they do, the better.
i disagree we are about 1 points away from reaching the middle initiate stage, but based on how things have been scaling high stage should be around 30 to 40 points. Even assuming we take two cultivation actions next week AND roll well on all of them, we would need to roll obscenely well on all of them to hit high stage by the time the class ends. Which is really, really, unlikely.[X] Plan Cultivation Catch Up
-[X] Go to physical training during the week. Sure, it was hell, but Hua Yin knew he was getting better. He was no longer a complete and utter embarrassment, but he knew he could do even better.
-[X] Go to cultivation training during the week. Cultivation's the whole point of coming to the Broken Tree, isn't it? It'd be a waste to not go to class. Hua Yin will be returning to the learning hall this week.
-[X] Practice the Levin Step. Hua Yin had reached the first stage of the technique. He could now use it in a fight, but there was more to the manual and studying further could only help his combat abilities. He knew there was more mortal insights to glean and then after that, Hua Yin could learn how to invest the Step with Qi.
-[X] Cultivate at the Font of the Supplicant's Tears. Hua Yin would go to cultivate at the Font of the Supplicant's Tears. Unless there's a write-in otherwise, he will use the strongest cultivation aide that he can. Ming Xue also spends her morning cultivating, and maybe they could build a friendship on that foundation.
--[X] Use Midnight Visitation
-[X] Cultivate at the Kiss of Tribulation. He might see his friends there, and maybe even get a chance to speak to Tianlang. Unless there's a write-in otherwise, he will use the strongest cultivation aide he has available.
[X] Invite Song Chyou to share meals. This will likely cause friction with Hua Yin's other friends, but it'll make Song Chyou into a new friend.
Cultivation helps us in the Cultivation class and Combat. Even without studying we will do ok in the testing portion, add that to a high cultivation level and we should be a sure thing to be one of the prize winners.
@DangerKitty After the physical test I plan to push hard for finding a new style, I promise you that. I think there's a decent chance that the special class provides more hands on training instead of just WH, and it's possible making it in could get us a pass to get a better style. First week after the physical test I'm all for finding something better.
Do we have the "right" to bring a group of people to the cultivation site?
It's our friend group that already knows about the Kiss. We all discovered it together. Presumably they all already use it. This just makes it a friendly group outingDo we have the "right" to bring a group of people to the cultivation site?
Hard cultivating for two weeks isn't really going to do much to help us in this class and taking our pass of the test for granted and not putting ANY actions towards studying for it doesn't seem like the right approach to me. Fighting is all well and good, but i do not think it is the class we should be doubling down on so close to the deadline.
You need to put a box on that for it to count.
But we're almost finished with the whole set. Charmcrafting is the last "free" class before the duties get chosen. Not going for the whole set seems a waste when we went to all the others. There's a chance there's some kind of bonus or reward to going to every class, maybe a trait? Other than that I don't see much point to going, sure it could be useful later but it's unlikely that one class will make much of a difference in that case, and anything could be useful in the future.
I edited my plan to not invite Song Chyou/Feng to the study group, and switched to inviting her to Breakfast.[X] Invite Song Chyou to share meals. This will likely cause friction with Hua Yin's other friends, but it'll make Song Chyou into a new friend.
[X] Plan: Making Friends w/Koans
-[X] Go to physical training during the week. Sure, it was hell, but Hua Yin knew he was getting better. He was no longer a complete and utter embarrassment, but he knew he could do even better.
-[X] Go to cultivation training during the week. Cultivation's the whole point of coming to the Broken Tree, isn't it? It'd be a waste to not go to class. Hua Yin will be returning to the learning hall this week.
-[X] Go to the introductory talismongering class. He had done alright in the class, definitely in the upper tier. Sure, he was behind Lao Ai, but she seemed to have brought prior knowledge to the class. He still felt like he was in the running for the top slot.
-[X] Start a study group for the cultivation class. Maybe some of the high-performing students would like to get together and make each other better. Hua Yin could at least approach Tao Yangyuan, Lao Ai, and Yang Genji to see if they were interested. Hua Yin thought about adding Zhe Chao but his intuition told him that would be a bad idea.
-[X] Study the Writ of the Broken Tree. Sure, it's mostly koans and philosophical musings, but Hua Yin was told there were cultivation insights within. He could study the Writ further and see what insights it could give.
If we don't end up finishing the Writ with our next action, we need to study it this week so it becomes available to study again in Week 8 before the next exam.
Talismongering is definitely worth more than another martial art. Getting another one at this point seems pretty pointless when it'll take so long just to get to Level 1.
I understand the desire to cultivate, but unless we commit a lot of our other actions to it over the next few weeks we're not going to make pinnacle initiate in time for the Week 8 exam, in which case I'd rather settle for getting Mid Initiate next week in exchange for doing the time sensitive stuff this week.
