So no balefire. Can we get control of natural powers? Such as creating earthquakes or storms? This is an excellent way to demonstrate our power and thearten enemy armies, and Rand did both very early, as well as working really well with our high raw power. I guess shielding channelers is also too complicated
While those feats are impressive, I don't think they are as useful as the offered votes. Earthquakes and storms have limited day to day use. Especially since Aenar probably wouldn't yet have the precision to make sure only enemies were affected.
Otherwise, folded light is probably our best bet. It will allow us to make ourselves or others invisible and hide other stuff as well, which is really useful and works real well with glamour. Or maybe hardened air. Excellent utility, defense and offense-we can use it to create walls, stop arrows or just stop people in their track.
Invisibility is pretty broken, but that choice kind of stacks with the previous Glamour vote. Would make more sense to focus our OP abilities towards things that we cannot already do with ASOIAF magic.
It doesn't work like that. The effect is temporary.
Some compulsion is permanent. Though admittedly this kind of trick is unlikely to be.
However it probably doesn't have to be permanent. Without reason to suspect that Aenar used a mind-whammy, most people would probably just maintain course. Unless it was extremely important or something, in which case this trick probably wouldn't even work.
When it comes to this, I would say that there are two potential negatives that come to mind.
First is the risk. Mind control is scary as fuck. In WoT, it was viewed as the ultimately evil, because the Aes Sedai knew that if they were ever caught using it, the rest of the world would basically unite to wipe them out. The same will likely apply here. If it comes out that Aenar is going around mindcontrolling people, the consequences would be pretty disastrous. We could probably kiss all our allies goodbye, since they could well assume that they were mind-controlled into joining Aenar, and no one would trust us enough to even meet with us in person after that.
The second is that when it
really matters, ta'veren effect might duplicate the compelling speech thing anyway.
