Tempted to take shortsword over dagger since it would be more useful if we get mobbed or in prolonged melee, but the dagger will help with assassination style attacks, and this way both of our weapons are resonably concealable. Don't know if that will matter, but it might help us at some point.

You were somewhat surprised (and a little bit dazed, to be honest) to see a pistol and a dagger appearing in your hands, seemingly being willed into existence out of nowhere, but so far this whole day had made so little sense that you felt too tired to really be able to truly feel surprised about this development.
Same with your clothes, who also appeared out of nowhere, and left you wondering for a second what had happened to your other clothes (not that it would matter, considering that they must be both torn to shreds and splattered with blood), and if you had been stripped to make space for this whole new set.
You also noticed that your new clothing and these weapons had a same color scheme; gold and silver all over.
With that thought, you also noticed that your injuries, whom you were completely sure were either lethal or crippling, had almost vanished; not all of them, far from it, you could still feel pain as you looked at you body, but the most brutal and dangerous of them had been healed... Much to your relief.
You were brought back from your thoughts by the same monster who attempted to kill you, whom you had admittedly forgotten about in favor of the clothing and weapons and the disappearance of your injuries.
With that thought, you glared at the monster from your position; it had attempted to kill you, and had almost succeeded, but now you felt more capable than ever to push back against it.
??? Initiative Vs Asuka Initiative (D20): 10 Vs 15!
You lunged at it; you didn't knew how strong it was, but you believed that being both stabbed and shoot at point blank at the same time should be enough to at least faze it
In that moment, three things became known to you:
One, you were... different from moments ago; not only your injuries, but your body.... you felt stronger, faster, way faster than ever before, and that's counting that you were far from a slouch when it came to running fast before.
Two, this thing was slow. Really slow, you were sure that you could have outran it if it weren't for that screech it gave that stunned you.
And three, that thing was about to give that same screech again.
You stabbed the thing before it were able to screech again, you hit it in it's head, from where that orange light came from, and then proceeded to shoot it with your pistol as many times as you could.
You were quite satisfied when it gave a screech of pain when you stabbed it.
You were even more satisfied when it exploded into smoke and shadows as you shoot at it with your gun.
You took a moment to look around you, to see if anything like the monster you just killed was close and ready to take a shot at vengeance from their lost... sibling?
When nothing came after a few moments, you were able to relax.
You laughed a little, thinking about the whole madness that had just transpired.
You laughed even more when it finally hit you that you had just survived and fought to the death against that monster.
You were practically laughing like a madman once the world went back to normal, leaving you and your possessions as the only proof that what had just transpired wasn't only a mad hallucination on your part.
Tears were flowing through you face: Tears of relief, of confusion, of pain, of happiness, tears without even a reason to be were flowing from your eyes, and you could do nothing to stop it.
Finally, you felt your new clothes and weapons disappearing, leaving your blood-soaked clothes and the injuries on your body as the only proof of what had transpired here.
And finally, that sense of power and calm that you felt through the whole time you were using those clothes also left with them, leaving you tired, scared, and confused of what had just happened.
Luckily, you didn't had to deal with that for much time, as you felt your body crumbling under the exhaustion, with it falling to the floor without any energies to keep itself standing.
You were tired.
Too tired.
You felt your eyelids growing heavier by the second.
"-ey! it's her-"
You could hear voices fading on the distance...
"-mi! get me som-"
You couldn't do anything as you felt your body and mind succumb to fatigue...
"-ill be okay, can you hear m-!?"
-And you knew nothing but darkness once more...
[END OF PROLOGUE]
[CHOOSE AN INTERLUDE]
[] Family Issues: "...Do you think that he'll be fine at... that place?" "...I wish I'd knew..." [] Report UR93-AA77: Due to Orders from [REDACTED], the following document is under heavy censorship measures. [] Rescue Duo: "So, he is..." "The one personally invited by the Director? Yes, he is."
Well... That was something.
And with this, we end the Prologue! Hopefully you had found it to be decent.
So... What are your thoughts on this so far? I would really enjoy to know how well I am doing with this quest; it can be anything, what you think of my writing, about the plot-hooks I left on the way, about how I'm writing Asuka... Y'know, all that stuff.
I have to say, I didn't expected this to go like this, I wanted this to go more in line with a Persona 3-like prologue; reaching the dorm, meeting people, not entering in combat for one or two day to get used to the setting... but the RNGods decided to have a fight as soon as possible, and sunk all of that into the ground.
I'll be honest, I was actually worried about what I should do when I saw that Drone (Minor) kicking your ass, with all of my background rolls for intervention being too low, and with it having a very real chance of killing you; but the RNGods decided that your suffering had gone for long enough and decided to favor you a little.
Anyways... The next update should come in a few hours, if not tomorrow, so, to give you a bone, I'll let you choose about some very nice Interludes between this and Chapter 1!
Approval vote, most voted will win, and all that stuff.
You know the rest; feedback if possible, typos too...
Fairly well written. the novice battle choices and resulting victory high and come down were believable. the clothes matching the weapons is a nice touch. gold pistol/silver dagger?
I kind of wish there was an interlude for some sentient dark creature that was witniss to our awakening and decided to just observe, but otherwise it's a good spread.
You will have the chance to increase your stats through training once the prologue's over, but to show you an example...
Let's suppose that you want to train your PWR:
[] We need more POWER!: Alright, you will need to start punching monsters from here on, so... (D20, 00/80)
You would need to use the AP you have in order to work your way to another point, and you can use each AP to add another D20 roll, more or less like this...
1D20 = 1 AP used
1D20: 20! = 20/80
3D20: 20, 20, 20! = 00/90 +1 point to PWR!
As said in mechanics, you will obtain a dice (d6) each 4 points above ten.

Description: Used almost entirely for survey of anything important within the immediate area, they lack any sort of intelligence, and serve as the eyes and ears of whoever controls them; it exists for them a chance to develop a will of their own, though, giving them the power to evolve.
HP: 6 (Fragile, but their role isn't to be fighters...) PWR: 9 (...That said, they are dangerous if fought in hordes) DEX: 6 - 8 (Quick enough to run if needed; Capable of hiding if needed) KNW: 2 - 4 (They do not need to think much to accomplish their objectives) ARC: 0 (They lack any sort of capability for Magic) CHA: 0 (Their role isn't to do the talking) WIL: 0/10 (Miserable, with little hope of survival)
[X] Rescue Duo: "So, he is ..." "The one personally invited by the Director? Yes, he is."
We were unlucky, I was hoping we had a slow and calm introduction to the hidden world but it seems like it was a strong and sudden one.
I think it's interesting to see who rescues us (I'm pretty sure they're main characters) and our first allies.
As for us, working with the assumption that we are the protagonist this (along with the next turns) will establish what type of protagonist we will be: a traditional hero, an antihero, a future Gary stu, a harem protagonist. or if not we can also not follow any archetype (although we will end up falling into one and in my personal opinion and knowing how we are we will become a gary stu or similar)
Souji Yonaka was no stranger to death, he was actually pretty experienced with the subject; from killing things, to seeing people die, to losing close ones' himself, he could say that he knew death better than most.
That didn't meant that he liked it, far from it, he always gave his best in order to avoid any unnecessary death; he believed that all life was important in some way, ways than he probably would never truly understand, but that existed, nonetheless.
Thus, when he saw a freshly Awakened kid falling into the ground just after he had managed to kill one minor drone, he feared the worst.
Thankfully, he had brought the school nurse, Naomi Tsunagi, with him on his regular patrol schedule, and she was able to heal the remaining injuries in the child's body with ease.
He looked at the child once more, unconscious and in bed, and he felt a pang of sadness.
'There it goes another normal life...'
He knew about the risks for the Sleepers, but so far, he had counted that the Shadows were at least thirty times more likely to detect and attack an Awoken than a Sleeper.
And that is without counting the risks to their families and everyone around them...
He got up, choosing to walk out of the room, having seen more than enough; the kid would live, and wake up in the next day, and that was good enough for him.
He sighed, the Shadow attacks had been increasing in number since quite a few years ago, while at the same time, more kids were Awakening, as if in response to that.
'Probably connected...' He had deduced quite a long time ago.
This kid was so far just one more victim in this whole mess.
As he walked out of the infirmary...
"Sorry-!"
"Ugh-!"
He crashed in to already mentioned nurse.
"Ugh... Good to see you, Naomi." He greeted, this was far from the first time something like this had happened to him, and so he was far more interested in hat could have made her run like this.
"I'm sorry, Souji! But I need your help, it's about Usagi, Yukiko and Tatsumi again..." She whispered that last part.
He groaned. Those three would be the death of him.
"I swear to any God listening, if I have to deal with another romantic triangle again in my lifetime, I will find a way to convince Ooshiki to ban relationships between students..." He knew that he was probably being unfair, but really, bringing personal problems to their workplace, in a work that they chosen to do? that was really annoying.
Ignoring his complaints, she could only sigh, "I swear, I just don't know how to deal with these three..."
"You and me..." The stood in comfortable silence for a few moments, before moving towards the problematic group together.
Within moments, they were on their way to the students' position, until Souji noticed someone standing on the hallway.
The man stood still in the middle of the hallway, looking uninterested at the ceiling, or something, Souji could only guess.
After a few moments, the man looked in their direction, and noticed both of them.
"Lady. Gentleman." He gave them a sharp nod, and proceeded to make his way towards the Directors' office.
Souji had heard of that man, even if he hadn't saw him in person so far.
"Is he...?" He started.
"The one personally invited by the Director? Yes, he is." And with that, she proceeded to continue her way towards the problematic students, "Don't get left behind!".
Souji sighed, he was better off not dealing with that stuff.
Students were easier to deal with.
Somewhat short, but I think I left enough stuff to make it decent.
Well, it seems that there are many protagonists, so it will be interesting.
As for us, I think we could pretend that we have amnesia and that the only thing we remember is to faint suddenly, I say to be able to pass for "normal" and train and collect information, if not to see what they decide to do and be able to collect more information
Among the loneliness and cold that you felt from your surroundings.
Among the nothingness and the everything.
Among the aeons and the instants.
And so, eventually, the darkness thinned.
You were able to see the walls around you, glowing with a faint green light coming for indescriptables runes carved on them.
You were able to see the ruins, the fallen buildings and the endless destruction around you, the pain and sorrow that came from the surroundings.
You were able to see war-machines that you couldn't recognize, and the broken bodies that laid around them.
You were confused.
What had happened here...?
You walked among the rubble and ash.
Black smoke started to cloud your vision.
And so, you walked.
Feeling once more perfectly calm about this situation.
You eventually reached something.
A Rift.
You felt... strange, as if being called...
And so,
You walked into The Rift. You woke up with a jolt.
Your whole body felt exhausted, and your head felt as if you hadn't slept at all, to make things better, you could feel a great pain coming from both of them.
You found yourself in a bed, inside a white room with other beds (with all of them with green sheets on them, you noticed), and a white light coming from one the ceiling.
You laid in your bed, attempting to sort the mess your thoughts and memories had become.
You started recounting the steps you took that had led you here: Your journey to Shirubātaun and Soyokaze Academy, your desire to go out to the outskirts to take a stroll and relax before going into the dorms, and...
That when the rest hit you: Your almost death at the hands of the dark creature, that 'transformation' you had when you refused to die, your battle (sort of) with the monster, you killing it and then falling into the ground, lacking any sort of energy to keep yourself standing, and finally losing your consciousness as you heard voices...
When you remembered, you started looking left and right around you, attempting to see if there was someone around you.
You noticed that, this place was completely desert save from you.
You took a moment to inhale and exhale in an attempt to calm your nerves.
'Alright...' you thought to yourself, 'What happened?'
What happened before was something so incredible, that you doubted that you could ever tell anyone about it without ending with you being sent to a asylum or worse, and to be honest, you weren't even sure if what happened was even real or just an hallucination that you had for some reason.
Regardless, it seemed that you going into the outskirts did happened, and getting hurt enough to drop unconscious was something that seemingly also happened, as you could tell by the pain in your body.
Still, there was a problem; under the assumption that some parts of your memories were real and not a crazy dream or hallucination, you were in a though spot, due to your (probably) blood-soaked clothes.
That was going to be hard to explain when you lacked any sort of injuries to claim as your own, thus leaving that the blood was from someone other than you as the only logical option.
Which... wasn't a good thing for you, frankly.
You were brought out of your thoughts by the sound of a door opening.
The person who came into the room was a woman, she had with light brown hair and hazel eyes, she was wearing a dark blue dress who was covered by a labcoat.
From here, you could also notice that she was wearing a pantyhouse, and that the sides of her hair looked an awful lot like animal-ish ears.
'Do they move when she's excited...?' It was a really stupid question, really, you can say so yourself, but still, it was a nice distraction from your other thoughts.
Once the woman noticed that you were awake, she threw her ands over her head, exclaiming "Oh thank, God you're awake!" as she ran to your bed side.
'...They do move!' You were actually impressed by that.
You were preparing an excuse about what happened, it would be difficult to believe, but-
"Oh thank you for being alive, you wouldn't believe how bad you were when you came here, I mean, like, really, completely depleted of your magical energy, with your magical body having to patch you together while you fought that Shadow, you wouldn't believe how lucky you are to still be alive! Oh dear I almost thought that you would be crippled for life if I didn't do my work properly...!" She started talking at speeds that you couldn't keep up with, interchanging between lecturing you, to attempting to comfort you, to being scared of how bad you would have been if she had failed at her job... It was completely impossible for you to follow her in this conversation.
'Magical Energy? Spiritual Body? Shadow? What the hell...?' You were taken back by her personality so far.
She promptly realized that she had lost you, and then panicked for a second before apologizing.
"I'm sorry, I know that you don't understand a word of what I'm saying!" She than proceeded to straighten herself, and to clear he throat, before starting to talk in a serious tone, "Let's start again, shall we? I'm Naomi Tsunagi, nurse of Soyokaze Academy, and I was one of the two people that found you in the outskirts of the town after your Awakening.
I know that you must have many questions, but please, allow me to explain you the basics of this whole thing before we start with the important stuff." She looked pretty serious, a far cry from her a few seconds ago.
You thought for a few seconds, before deciding with one question before anything: "What the hell is an awakened?"
...That might have come far more rude that you intended, but still, you wanted answers.
To Tsunagi's credit, she didn't seemed surprised by your rudeness, if anything, she seemed to be expecting something along those lines.
"All right, let's cut straight into this; you know about Magical Girls and Henshin Heroes, right?" You nodded, "Alright, that save us time, the gist of this all is that an Awakened is basically someone who unlocked their potential to use magic, like a Magical Girl, usually due to a catalyst, like the pocket watch that you have on the pocket inside your clothes - and yes, I did searched through them, I'm a nurse, it's part of my job, don't feel ashamed - and now they can perform incredible deeds with the power of magic, obtaining a new body, your Spiritual Body, and becoming stronger and faster than any human," She quickly sent me a look that was basically 'are you following me?' to which I nodded.
She was telling me that you that you were a mage of sorts? That... Was insane.
But still, somehow, it seemed to fit right along the series of events that had happened since you reached here.
"Alright, you are, in basic terms, a Magical Boy with incredible power, but you are also now hunted-" "I'm what now!?" "-By the Shadows; beings that seem to be attracted to Magically Capable humans, whom we call Sleepers, they also hunt normal humans if they have the ties to the Awoken."
"What the hell!?" You shouted. They were telling you that now you had a bunch of monsters like the one from before attempting to kill you by the sheer fact of existing? What kind of bullshit was that!?
"Look, I know how that sounds, but please, just let me finish before you say anything, please!" She was practically begging you right now.
...You sighed, it's not like you had any other choice.
Sensing your, albeit begrudging, agreement, she continued, "This Academy is founded to both give educations to children and young adults and to find, train, and protect Awoken from the Shadows; we even have a special group trained to fight Shadows."
She looked worried, looking at your clearly unsatisfied face, "Look, I know what you're thinking, but we aren't attempting to lock you here, you are free to go, call your family, all that stuff, it's just..." She struggled to find her words, "That we want you and others to be safe from the Shadows, and so far, this is the less risky way of doing so." She then proceeded to drag a box from below your bed.
"These are your belongings, we did our best to take care of them, your dorm has already made space for you; Di-principal Ooshiki wishes to see you inside his office; first go throught the corridor and go for the elevator, push the button to reach the 3rd floor, and then go first door to the left." She seemed unsure of what to do next, "...And, if you feel the need to, I'm usually in this place most of the week until evening, so if you need to talk to someone..." She trailed off, her voice becoming a whisper shortly after that.
With seemingly nothing left for her to say, she walked out of the room, but not before leaving a few final words, "Today is April 2nd, so you should be fine to go to classes tommorrow, please attempt to be punctual."
You were stunned for a few seconds, before sighing and starting to unpack your things.
"What the hell is this place...?" You asked yourself, with silence being your only answer. Following Tsunagi's instructions, you finally reached the principals' office.
You knocked on the door a few times, waiting for some answer, before receiving a "You can enter" as your answer.
The place was pretty dignified; a red carpet on the floor, an oak wood desks' and chair, bookshelves on the sides, and the principal himself behind said desk, sitting on a luxurious chair.
His red eyes were piercing you, analising you, you could feel it.
He wore a black and white suit, pretty elegant, you weren't going to lie, and his lower face was covered in an admittedly pretty great beard.
You could see from here that he was a tall man, probably a head and a half above you.
But most of all, you could see his muscles stretching the suit, all of them probably beyond what you could gather in years, if not decades; a proof of dedication to his work out routine, if nothing else.
"Good evening, Mr. Iwamoto, my name is Kageru Ooshiki, and I am the principal of this Academy you attempted to enter before yesterday's attack." His voice was gruff; but there was something else in his tone that you just couldn't put your finger on...
"I will take that Ms. Tsunagi has already given you the short version of what you're dealing with right now, am I right?" His voice was even, you had the feeling that this was his 'friendly' voice.
You nodded at his question.
"Alright," He took a pause to breath, an then looked straight into your eyes, "I wish to ask you something, Mr. Iwamoto; do you believe in Fate?"
"...What?"
"It's a weird question, I know, but please, just answer to this old sack of bones, please?"
...You were going to pass the chance to tell him that he probably had more muscle in his body than many people in their primes.
Still, about his question...
[] ...I believe: You always liked to believe that things happened for a reason, that some people were bound to meet an love or hate, there was something romantic in that idea. [] ...I don't believe: You always disliked thinking that your path was already chosen for you, that anything you did was already foreseen, you have always believed in being able to choose your own fate. [] ...I don't know: So far, you have no idea if Fate is real or not, it might be, and you are running on it, it might be not, and all your choices are just as random as anything else in this world, but you always liked to go with an open mind about the possibilities.
The principal held his gaze for a moment, before finally nodding with a simple "I see".
He straightened his chair and stance, "Now, Mr. Iwamoto, I'll be frank with you, I would have wished for your Awakening to have happened later, once you were adapted to your life inside the Academy, and for your first encounter with the Shadows to have been much less risky, but alas, that didn't happened."
"I'm sure that you have half a mind telling you to get out of here, and to be honest, I would respect you if you did, but you must know that once Awoken, the Shadows will come after you with much more frequence than as a simple Sleeper, and, forgive for saying this, but you aren't even remotely trained in combat to hold your own against anything but the weaker Shadows." You felt angry at that; you shouldn't need to know how to fight in the first place!
"So, I'll make this offer to you: Stay in the Academy for a month, make bonds with people, train your skills, understand what you are facing, and after the month is over, you will come here and give me your answer about staying or not, are we fine with that?"
You weren't sure about what to think about this, you couldn't get a read out of the director, and this whole thing was still completely insane, but so far you've had little choice, and you weren't sure if he was going to act violently if you refused, so...
"...Yes, it does sounds fine."
You could see a smile appearing on his lips.
"All right then," he said, opening the door to outside his office, "I hope that you find your stay here a decent experience."
Once you exited his office, you let out a long held breath.
"...Why?" You have 4 AP to use.
Vote by plan, minus the choice above.
[] Go to the dorms: Sleeping in an actual bed sounds like a good idea, maybe even finding out about you co-habitants would help soothe your nerves.
[] Go explore the town: After the last time, it couldn't be worse, right...? -[] Go to the Commercial Area: Buying some stuff is always a good way to take your mind off things. -[] Go on to explore the Outskirts: That memory... maybe, there's something over there... -[] Go explore the Park: You just need to think in peace for a moment. -[] Go explore the Residential Area: You used to live here, maybe a stroll around this place would help you think things through. -[] Wander Around: You just need to take a moment to think after... all of this. (Random result, 1D100)
[] Wander around the school: A nice place to study, shame about the monsters... -[] Visit the infirmary: Ms. Tsunagi told you that if you needed to talk to someone, then you should come to her office; you really need to talk to someone right now. -[] Visit your classroom: You have been assigned into the 2-C classroom, there's many students there... -[] Visit the library: You are confused, and you need answers. [] Train your Stats: You hated the thought, but Mr. Ooshiki was right; if these 'Shadows' were to attempting to kill you, then you would need to get stronger. -[] Practice with your dagger: You know nothing about how to fight with a knife. Maybe you should learn. (DC 5/15) -[] Practice with your pistol: You've never held a gun in your entire life, nor you wished to do so. Time to correct one of those. (D20, 00/80) -[] Study and increase your KNW: Despite all the madness, this was, still, a school. Tests included. (D20, 00/40) -[] Practice your smile and your CHA: You aren't great when it comes to sweet talking people. Maybe you try and change that. (D20, 00/40) -[] Search about Magic and ARC: Magic... Is real. You need to know more about it. (D20, 00/10)
[] Call your Parents: ...How do you do this? How do you talk to them about this without sounding insane...?
Well, here it is, the first post after the Prologue!
It was kinda difficult to write, not going to lie, but still, it was fun.
Anyways, the first choice above is going to be Really Important in the future, so choose carefully!
I don't trust anyone so personally I think we should train to at least be able to beat shadows and pretty strong people
the damage we do is based on what statistic?
When will will be spent and how is it recovered? How much can a statistic go up before not being able to go higher or need something special? Does it become more difficult to raise our statistic the higher it is?
As for why I see as if or if we need to train our ability with the dagger and the pistol .. well it speaks for itself we have no idea how to use it correctly and we have to get used to using them
[] Train your Stats: You hated the thought, but Mr. Ooshiki was right; if these 'Shadows' were to attempting to kill you, then you would need to get stronger.

[] Train your PWR: You needed to beccome stronger ... (D20, 00/50)
- [] Train your DEX: You need to become quicker ... (D20, 00/80)
Well, this is my plan for now, although we could also change the training of our PWR or DEX to train our ARC
