not on accident like that. You were purging the station of normal grime and such, you would need to spend an appreciable amount of time and effort on purging mutation. Note that only five or so people out of 500 million actually got their souls yoinked into the Shroud. Those 5 people were the only ones to have spiritual mutations that were a problem or would become a problem, everyone else is just typical biological mutations.

Anatol also, with the realization that what he thought mutation meant and what mutation is wouldn't do that. He thought/expected that any person labeled as a mutant was something akin to a Chaos Spawn, a fleshy abomination that frankly shouldn't be alive. He instead saw himself reflected in the unlucky. He came into this expecting to see hordes of twisted flesh puddles and monsters with no sapience or thought beyond their next feast of which they would only eat humans or themselves. He instead got, normal human children with one or two minor divergences.

To Anatol, he doesn't understand why those children would be considered mutants. Their Souls are clean of taint, their bodies are 99% identical to human norm, their minds are human in all ways. He considers himself further diverged from human norm than the children he saw in the latest update. That is what threw him for a loop, he was expecting chaos spawn but got himself.

Due to the above, he sees no reason to tear apart their genetics to reforge them anew when there is nothing wrong with them. That is one thing that you have to keep in mind, Anatol for all of his sheer intelligence, is still less than two months old. He doesn't understand human thought processes all that well, he is better due to having more human souls in the Shroud with him, but he doesn't get things that a normal human would. He fits everything he learns into a very inflexible framework, that he is effectively rebuilding from the ground up when he learns new things that don't mesh with the previous things.

That is why he outright froze into a cationic state when he meet the children. He doesn't have the mental flexibility to accept contradictory ideas yet, so he was forced to discard a large chunk of his previous core framework and rebuild it to deal with the fact that what he thought isn't what is real. He is really really really bad at dealing with information that invalidates or contradicts what he already knows, he will get better about this, but its the process of years for him to truly begin to be able to accept new information like a typical human.

Its the same reason, that when he remade the framework regarding mutants that he didnt stop to think, but acted instead. He went from seeing them as abominations one step removed from aliens, to seeing them as Humans living in filth. He didnt stop to consider his actions, he just acted as his Duty/Belief compelled him to do and so burned away all the filth as his duty as he currently conceptualizes it is to rebuild the Imperium into a better temple. A good temple doesn't have filth in which its people live, thus he burned away the filth due to it being inhabited by Humans.

the bigger issue is that Anatol can't integrate knowledge of differing ideals/concepts into previous established concepts. He doesn't so much as accept the new information as he tears his forming identity to shreds and rebuilds it in a microsecond to have that new information as part of his new identity.

Currently speaking, Anatol doesn't know why the children are being considered mutants anymore. He can't comprehend that state of being for them. He sees them as Human now, and can't even process the idea of them being something other than Human. That is the biggest issue that Anatol has currently.

He couldn't figure out how to rationalize Chaos Spawn/Mutant Horror with Children with minor skin mutations, so he instead broke down and tore apart the very concept of his understanding of mutants to divide out any of the latter into the Human group he has in his mind. Thus, currently speaking Anatol wouldn't notice anything wrong with a person that had scales in place of skin. He considers only the former as a true Mutant currently. This is the core of his problem. He can't equate things to each other yet, he can't see that a person with scales is a mutant anymore, to him that person is just a Human. Before he changed his viewpoint, he saw that same person as a Chaos Spawn.

This I don't think I need to say is incredibly unhealthy for a person to do, but Anatol is but a child and doesn't have the mental flexibility that growing up over the course of a decade and a half grants.
 
Well,we have a long way to go when it comes to teaching anatol mental flexibility and nuance

Okay so now that we have a map, met some people, and figured out what happened with dad we can focus all our attention on the research portion.
 
if we have 5 actions again im pretty much going for a plan for
2 in power which should get us 500 then unlock tier 2 (l don't now if research rolls over to next level so being safe with 2 instead of 3)

you need to reach 1/4 of the total progress of a research to know how to repair that kind of system. This means in order to repair a las gun power core you need to understand roughly 1/4 of the science and production methods behind the core in the first place. This cost isn't a factor if you have all the parts in abundance, but you can safely assume that all of Olynn's systems do in fact require the 1/4 threshold to be reached.

Turn 2: February of 40,000
You could feel your body becoming more solid as time passed, you had limited yourself for the first month vastly, to ensure that you would become better suited to this realm. Perhaps, your lower limits was the heights of humanity, but for you it was a vast reduction of capabilities. You knew full well that you could go without rest, without food or water for weeks at a time, you were nowhere so limited as the humans around you.

Perhaps, one of those that live in the depths of Olynn would be your equal through some flip of the cosmic dice, or by His will. But until you could find them, you would assume that you were the single most robust human on the station, although you turn to look upon the small body of Syra.

Her body was small for her age, only a little over a meter in height, with limited muscle mass for her size. She appeared much younger than her eight years of age would imply, but she hadn't moved for the last few hours once you moved her soul into your Demi-realm, save for speaking of peace and silence that disturbed you on some level.

Beyond her obvious lack of size, there was nothing wrong with her body to your sight. Her skin and scales were clean, although the feathers that were mixed into her hair were a bit crooked at the roots of their formation. With a flicker of power, you realign the roots of the feathers to allow them to properly grow into place, and a rough scan of her genetics shows a few inheritable issues for any children she might have and with a flicker of will they are removed and fixed as you do the same for the other five children around you.

Beyond those small issues, there was nothing wrong with the children beyond the general lack of nutrition they had been living with. Another simple thing to fix as you use your powers to collapse time for a moment to retroactively shift the past to ensure that the lower depths of the station would have had enough food to supply all inside. Another simple matter completed to your satisfaction as you nodded as their bodies shifted growing larger and thicker with flesh.

Perhaps someone might claim that altering the past might lead to issues in time, but you knew that such was a lie for the Shroud provides for you all the options you would need. For such a simple thing you drew upon a part of the shroud that touched all but lacked any concept of linear time, thus it was but a moment's effort to reach through the lens of the past to shift what you wished. Unfortunately, to your irritation the shard of the Shroud lacked the power enough to bend time backwards for more than a handful of years from the present, which made you unable to truly correct the problem at hand.

With the children now feed properly, you turned towards a different source of irritation that plagued you, namely your mother's actions in the past. Although part of you wished to restore what she had so cruelly removed, you knew enough about her that she would probably just redo the event once more with even greater pain for all involved. Before you would undo anything of hers, you would first force her to accept your right to do so and speak with her, for you knew enough to know that everyone is the hero of their own tale.

No human would ever make of themselves the villain, even the worst of the monsters would have a logic behind their actions that would make sense to themselves. Before you would act you would know her logic and by extension her mind and how she would react, you had been burned once already for not learning the full picture and you saw no reason to invite another such lesson so soon.

Beyond your mother and her attending issues, the Heat Conversion system was a bane on your efforts. You knew full well that the system could fail within the year and if it went fully offline there was little you could do to restore any level of functionally to it before the entire station burned to ash. It was a primary issue and as such would be started superseding all other possible considerations, it would be the primary focus of your efforts to come in the next eleven months of the year. In conjunction with it you would continue your research into fusion and how to properly contain the power source, already you could hypothesize methods by which you could repair fusion reactors, but the issue at hand was that none of the power systems of Olynn were pure fusion. The closest was the back up system that was a form of cold fusion, that bore similarities in the principles behind fusion itself, but was distinct in its own way as well and as such fusion would need to be completed first.

However, thankfully the Emperor smiled when He provided the ASDC to you and with them you could begin study of the conversion field systems in earnest now and not have to wait, however as your mind turned towards the map of the station you could see hidden echos of places in the walls, making you wonder if there was more to be found in the walls of Olynn.

heat conversion has 2 lock in and placing 1 more die so speeds things up... might be worth using that 1ap on an interaction slot mm will think about it later

Complete Map better to focuses on rather than the 300DC. l don't know what the roll bonusses would be for creating a map but, chosen one+(possible Tactics military stand point)+survival skills on exploring and discovery?? are a few possible picks here but there a good chance with 2 rolls 80+ we could reach the 1k for DC with 2 AP if I'm looking back at Identify station results right

originally wanted a AP in Industrial Base but we got bigger fish to Deal with. not taking any interaction AP this turn but will be using 2 next turn. Shroud exploration (psionic) going wait 1 or 2 turns before setting this up as a priority

no as far as I can tell your plan works, although I will note that the mapping action has confounding factors that Anatol isn't aware of
thanks you and all good the space station is massive so makes sense l personal still feel aiming for the complete map better than an advanced.

I think we need a map really quite badly if we want to have more of a handle of the station's problems.

I think we should try to talk more with Syra because we probably lack much in the way of context on the lower parts of the station.

I think we should put extra work into fixing the heat conversion systems because they are such a dire threat.
