I'm happy with either fleet option, so long as we're working to secure our fife the region and make a good impression by putting an end to pirate raids.

Might want to hold off on field operations until we're sure our fleet can do it. True, nothing replaces field experience but training helps more people come out alive of a field op to benefit from such practical experience.

Anyway, my two credits on the assassination attempt: Pretty sure that was probably something that was going to happen regardless of the ships being sent to byss; That kind of move is... pretty much peak palpatine.

Well, to be fair Chandler's law presupposes the violence may not even be connected to the existing plot, and this violence rather elegantly ties together several plot threads that exist and that you've subjected yourselves to. So I feel fully justified in deploying it. Also it did help to jumpstart my brain from the puddle that the Heat Dome ™️ left it in.

Yeah, in addition to all the enemies we've willingly made within the Empire, that ISB guy was really quick to jump to that "Rebel Infiltration" nonsense. Not to mention this shit probably happened all the time while Palpatine was alive too, just more covertly.

No shit, this is his job. If it's a choice of labeling them as "Deep cover Rebel implants who I totally had no idea about" vs "Implanted ISB/COMPNOR/ImpCent moles who I activated", well, no shit he's gonna blame the Rebels.
 
While I would not be surprised if this assassination attempt came from a part of the Empire I would not be to certain that external forces could not be behind it.

Like I said, if they found evidence these two snapped? He'd be happy because he couldn't be held responsible for it. Anything else? Yeah no. His entire job is to hunt out spies and such. Like these guys. Failing to find them is bad. Especially since ISB isn't exactly..... popular.

I was thinking more that someone else activated them, not that they just decided to do the murder on their own.
