[X] What's this about a coup in Mist? Go to the southwest corner of Honey and ask around to get more details.
We can pick up our own, better Haku. One that's less androgynous and has a better bloodline and is even more dedicated... of course the timeframe doesn't match up for him.

[] (-1 FP) Reject Compel: Your disguise was quite good. No one noticed, and Kakashi was careful (in his off-screen interactions) to obscure his distinctive features and flair.

Tanaka Migen, from the Land of Rivers. Leadership changed during the Third War, and I had some… disagreements with the new Kage. I left before he used his new hat to resolve those disagreements we had.
Are there more than five Kage or is this just a colloquial thing for referring to your own village head out of respect?

The ninja leader of a country is nominally called a Kage. Kakashi isn't sure exactly why that is, but he would guess it comes from the Warring Clans era, where the Daimyo were generally the ones who held land, but were controlled in secret by various (and frequently changing) ninja clans, the shadow behind the throne.

Though generally when people say "the Kage", they mean the ultra-powerful leaders of the five major nations, not the ones that lead minor nations (though some of them are still quite strong).

I see. Would it be presumptuous to say that as he is now Kakashi is in the top 10% of all Ninja currently alive? Nowhere near the 1% (yet) but pretty up there.
See Paper's response.

Roughly, as far as Kakashi is concerned: There are probably one or two hundred ninja that fit into the "My ass would probably still get kicked by them solidly" tier, and a couple dozen in the more exclusive "They would feed me my intestines as a light workout" tier.

Jounin, roughly speaking, are the top 5% of ninja.
It just occurred to me cause numbers came up, but with the low numbers, how big was the army it took to down the Third Raikage? A thousand?

Are they all (country name)kage, or is that reserved for the big guys? Cause come to think of it, Bear-shadow sounds a lot cooler than star-shadow, even if that country only produces chunin-level ninja max.

And Dragon fits into which of those categories?

Don't forget that while Kakashi did rather well against the Glacier ninja, he still ended up with a pretty bad consequence and, if not for good planning (fire + oil, IIRC), might have been killed by them. Not to mention that, before that fight, we had a run of bad dice rolls that made things a lot harder for Kakashi than they probably should've been. A group of chuunin could get lucky and kill Kakashi if we're too blase about combat, and Kakashi could die if he has a bad matchup.

Luckily we have jutsu galore, which helps to mitigate that (and some amount of TH), but Kakashi's reserves are still too small to properly leverage that (imo). We could very easily have the proper tools/jutsu but still die due to insufficient chakra.

Edit: clarity of intent

This is the subject of a possible future interlude but tl;dr Minato.

Yep. River's leader is the Kawakage.

[X] To Demon! Look for problems that need solving and chances to learn new techniques, like in Snow.

[X] Why hasn't there been a shipment of the chakra-healing medicine? Kakashi needs more than five days worth. Track down the source and buy more.

I'm more curious where the head would be. My guess is this is a Tailed beast skeleton
Do Tailed Beasts have skeletons? I thought they were pure chakra.

Silver? Pretty useless material for a weapon... unless it has boosted effectiveness against chakra beasts? I kinda want to investigate this...
Ooh, I missed that detail. Yes, good idea to follow up on.

I wonder how weird medic holds up in a fight. I don't get the combatant sense from him. Then again, maybe his disguise is better than ours. But if I had to choose between bringing along Jasker (Sugiyama), or good!Kabuto, I feel like there's a right answer, and a fun/annoying answer. But I want our own apprentice, dang it! (Medic #3 is middle of the pack for me, but is the one most likely to lead to more fights, and more dynamic fights because he's the most helpful, which I would enjoy reading).

[x] Find more of the chakra medicine, subtly investigate the shortage.Find out why the guards are using silver weapons instead of iron/steel. Ask locals about the giant skeleton.

There are three possibilities behind the mysticism.
A. He is a con-man which will be useful.
B. He believes in it which will be entertaining.
C. He believes it and is right which might let us in on supernatural events and avenues to power, even if it is unlikely.

Maybe spent too much time playing cultist simulator.

I doubt it's worth the risk now. Maybe when heat dies down and dragon stops searching.

I'm not sure if chaos is a ladder, but there is opportunity here somewhere.

They definitely have some kind of internal anatomy, Naruto's 6 and 8 tailed forms, Bee's V2 Lariat, all use/have bones. It's just the bones and everything else in the Beast is made of chakra, so they probably don't persist if the Beast "dies".
Right, but that was Naruto and Bee, not the TB proper. I know it's something of a moot point, but is there any evidence that the actual TBs have bones? I'm not familiar with canon that much.

C'mon, we're here for the excitement, not to play it safe! If you want to play it safe, go over to Marked for Death. :p

I don't know if anyone's going to write in an action plan, but if you decide to, know that I'll vote for any plan that has us investigate the weird silver spears and the giant monster skeleton.

[X] Action Plan: Investigations Ahoy!
Words: tbd
-silver makes for bad weapons, why aren't they using good steel, or solid iron? Ask around, be subtle/discreet.
-ask around about local legends, specifically the thing that looks like a giant monster's skeleton.
-there's a shortage of chakra medicine. Why? Investigate and buy more, but try to be discreet.
-Maintain disguise of missing nin, with a layered disguise over that. Using Shadow Clones as Kakashi-pilot deems useful for misdirection/disguise purposes. Want to keep true identity hidden.

The TB themselves? Not really. The moments where we see bones form on/around the Jinchuuriki could be taken as the Bijuu chakra warping the host's body into something more akin to the Bijuu's "real" form.

We could even theorize that the chakra of a Tailed Beast wants to return to its "proper" form if enough of it is in one place. The fact that "psudo-jinchuuriki" exist in canon (ninja who have a small amount of Bijuu chakra and can thus channel a small fragment of said Bijuu's powers) seems to indicate this.

But, of course, Kishimoto is Kishimoto and these data points could merely be coincidental.

In fact, given how the initial stages of a Jinchuuriki utilizing their Bijuu's chakra is indicated by a cloying, caustic "shroud" of chakra (that then develops more tails and other Bijuu features as more Bijuu Chakra is accessed), I would actually say that the Tailed Beasts are pure energy/chakra beings and that the blood/bone we see formed (Canon-naruto's battle against Orochimaru or against Pain) are the results of the chakra trying to return to its "proper" form, but the Bijuu Seal forcing the chakra to work with the host's body, rather than escape it.

(But again, Kishimoto is Kishimoto, so this could just be pointless musing)

I voted to track the Mantis Summoner, but I am also okay with
[X] Locate any Summoners in the East willing to teach Summon Training

Also, interesting that Dragon has taken a break from hunting us...might change my vote to get that FP after all since it's gonna take him a few weeks to get back over here anyways
(Then again, we don't know when that conversation took place)
