FMA Brotherhood: Wahrheit (Current Arc: A Small Peace)

[]Bribe Officials: You want to get more pertinent access into the Military Camp, find out Strategy, resources… what the government is wishing to do. (Increase Interview, Research, and Investigation rolls into certain events) Costs 40,000 Cene.
Am I right in reading this to mean that it won't help with interviewing the Rank and File? @Magoose That it's more for being able to infiltrate deeper into the military camps than anything else?

Last time it gave us +20 to all research actions that involved the military, so we kind of want it ASAP, and we also want to have []Finding the Monk ASAP, since it will give us an extra action.

The main reason why I'm willing to hold off on finding Scar this turn, is because I trust him to be helpful on his own and to intervene if the situation calls for it.

I'm waiting for WoQM about the bribe, but I'm heavily leaning towards exchanging the pictures for it.

My main concern right now is convincing the majority of the low ranking Amestrian soldiers to stick to keeping the peace instead of starting a genocide.

Beyond the obvious moral and ethical reasons for it, just imagine the article we'd be able to write: Despite a lack of equipment, any peacekeeping training, heightened cultural/religious/racial tensions, and inflammatory elements on both sides, Amestrian soldiers take the time to defuse conflicts and "Protect the people of Amestris... and all of its citizens. Even Ishvallans."

While not as attention grabbing as mass slaughter and potential war crimes, the enlisted soldiers/low ranking officers putting in the effort and going out of their way to prevent more needless deaths lines up well with our previous portrayal of them being forced to commit the war crimes at the hospital. And could potentially be used to place the blame for the brutal repression actions on the high command, especially if we can get more evidence linking General Fessler to sparking the conflict in the first place.

Edit: Also, Dante, the Body Taker Alchemist is likely the person Fessler was sending letters to, and apparently was opposed to what they were doing in Ishval. (This doesn't mean she's on our side, for all we know she just hated that she wasn't the one personally organizing it, rather than opposing the planned slaughter)

Memorandum, on the Ishvallan Issue, Letter Number 15,

To Dante,

I must inform you that your hostility against the Ishvallan Events will not be kept under wraps any longer. For months now, there have been flames fanned by our mutual ally within the Ishvalan government and priesthood, who wish to see…

Basically the soldiers are putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to their oaths.

and despite high commands best efforts, they've only achieved the ten thousand dead that were required so the entire effort was not a wasted one on Fathers part.

it will just have to be seen if they decide to cut losses or try to manipulate events to get some violence started.

A possible future
A possible future:

When Ed and Alphonse called at the door of the famous reporter Alfred Ailtree, they did not knew what they would find, they had already met him several times, since he was a good friend with the Rockwells, but only for a short time and never after the incident.

After a short while Alfred opened the door and receive them with a warm smile: "Look at you, you have certainly grown... Especially you Al"

Feeling strangely relieved not to suffer again the Pinako treatment, he and Al thanked him politely as he lead them to a comfy living room where fire burned on the chimney

Taking a seat looked at the brothers and looked at them with compassion "I know why you are here, the Rockwells have already told me what happened at that basement, and I knew that at some point you will come looking for my help... It is not widely known that I am an alchemist, and hopefully only a handful of people know that I can transmute without any circles, and I prefer it that way"

Edward looked directly at the fire while saying "Well, the most extraordinary things bout you Mr. Ailtree that you are the only known person who tired human transmutation who actually recovered what he lost when he saw the Gate of Truth... and if that is possible"

"Then it means that we can get our bodies back!!!" Concluded an excited Alphonse.

Alfred smiled at them with sorrow while opening the collar of his shirt, revealing a huge scar "Well, I got my voice back truly, but HE left me this reminder of my foolishness... Unfortunately I don´t think that I can really help you that much with your problem... I only got my voice back because Truth gave me a mission to get back at someone who had slighted him, but the only way of getting that sort of deal is by being in the right place at the right time... I don´t really want to give you false hopes kids, what happened to me can also happen to you, but that is like playing the lottery, while the possibility of winning exists it is extremely unlikely"

Alphonse and Edward looked at him with absolute consternation "We never knew that, We thought that you recovered your body with a Philosopher´s Stone"

"Yeah, that is slightly more likely to happen, I recovered several stones in Ishval, but I gave all of them to Joshua´s Brother, and I doubt that he has any left since he promised to destroy them all... And even if If he still had some of them and he would be willing to lend one of them, I don´t think that you will accept to use them if you knew how they are created"

"Well, thank you very much for that information, Mister Ailtree, you have helped us a lot" Said both brothers as they got up

"A last word of advice lads, that you won´t understand until you know how the Stone is created," Said Grimly "If you find a Philosopher´s Stone use it to recover your bodies... Don´t let your sense of morality fool you, to use it is a mercy"

A new omake @Magoose, If possible I would like another action...

Well Assuming that @Magoose gives us an extra action for my make, I will present my plan

[X] Plan: Getting the Band Back Together
-[X]Photo's for the Future (A Circle of Blood): Ten Thousand people have died disappeared in this conflict… but nothing seems to change. There is an eery quiet.
-[X]interview: (The Rank and File): it seems that the soldiers are discontent with the lack of proper equipment. You will allow them to vocalize their complaints.
-[X]Finding the Monk: Someone is watching you… but that someone is not an enemy. But who?
-[X]Relocate: You need to get out of the city. Johan seems to have some safe houses in a few towns down.
-[X]Spend time with Johan: You want to know the Truth about Bellview... what did he do there?
-[X]Bribe Officials: You want to get more pertinent access into the Military Camp, find out Strategy, resources… what the government is wishing to do. (Increase Interview, Research, and Investigation rolls into certain events) Costs 40,000 Cene.
-[X]Train: Your hand to hand skills are getting Sloppy… you need to practice more… the work at the desk is making you sloppy…

Well, my idea with the plan is to get Scar ASAP, alongside his bonus, and probably extra action, then to patch things up with Johan, GTFO of there and make some research, while leaving the Big Research Like the General or The Dissaperances for later, when we can combine the Bribe Bonus with Johan´s Bonus.

Done an extra action is yours.
So many close calls I'm surprised we're not brushing up to Father Time... or the grim reaper
Well Father won't kill us he still needs us.

but is willing to make offers we cannot refuse.
I am betting that the Arthur that has asked us to came back is Envy though.
I will say this. Arthur will not go down like a pussy, to Bradly, Envy or the army.

I am not saying that he has gone down, but Envy can just become another dude while he is buying groceries and use his identity to screw them over...
The thing about being a newspaper editor in Amestris is that you are have more paranoia then sense.

but it's not paranoia if they are really out to get you.

@Magoose a just a thing... Taking the Relocate action we will automatically prepare the new hideout with all the Alchemical traps that we got from the Alchemical preparation? I hope so since we got a nat a crit there basically...

A Study of the Ishvallan Conflict: A perspective of its first days.
Alright lets go. Here's my promised omake @Magoose

AN: Its a high school paper written by young Adam about the first story written by Alfred during his time in Ishval and the what it accomplished in his eyes.

Anybody with an elementary education is Amerstris knows what the Ishvalan Civil War is, the what's, how's, and the whos. The brutality of General Fessler, the heroism and bravery of the many soldiers and officers of eastern command, the adventures and escapades of Ailtree and his merry band of helpers, the many civilians who helped both with his investigation, and who helped with humanitarian projects. And form a modern point of view it's easy to say that everything that happened would have happened, that there was no way the good people of Amestris would let the atrocities of Ishval go unanswered and that good was always destined to triumph over evil.

It is a common misconception that the events leading up to the cessation of the war were simple and straightforward, especially among the young boys and girls of our new generation who although taught from an early age the importance of the conflict and its events, yet they weren't taught the deeper and wider truth of the early days of the conflict. Everybody knows it was Alfred Ailtree and his story "Hundred of Innocent dead on the Streets of Ishval '' that exposed the events of Ishval to the general public.

The story was resounding success commercially selling millions to both domestic and international readers. Any other journalist might have called it a day and congratulated themselves yet to Ailtree it wasn't a success, it was a failure for it failed to achieve the objective he wanted when he sought out to write it in the first place. Ailtree hoped that the story and its contents would inspire the people of Amestris to rally against the actions of the military in Ishval, unfortunately the reactions from Amestris would dash any hopes Ailtree had in the chance that the general public might persuade the government to stop its actions.

The north was preoccupied with Amestris's eternal enemy Drachma and couldn't be bothered to deal or care about any events in the far off eastern deserts of Amestris, The west was similarly unconcerned with what it saw as just another uprising by the Ishvalans that would eventually be put down like all the others before it. The south, similar to the north, was preoccupied with enemy forces constantly skirmishing with them. All these regions and its people both civilian and military didn't have any strong opinions in regards to the events in Ishval, they might have all bought the papers and read the story but just like many people today watch a movie for entertainment many back then read for their, and Ishval was entertainment for them. It's easy for a person in the modern age with the ability of hindsight to declare all those that stood by and showed little care as cowardly or uncaring. But the reality was that the events of Ishval were too far away for people to invest themselves in, too impersonal to impact them in any significant way other than making them aware of the existence of Ishval and its problems.

Yet the story also reached the soldiers and citizens of the eastern region, and here is where Ailtree found the audience he was looking for. To the people of Eastern the events of Ishval were close to home and many citizens probably had at least some interaction with an Ishvalan. The people that were dying weren't just nameless bodies, they were neighbors. And for all that the story resonated with the regular people of the East it resonated especially with the military of Eastern command. Soldiers read and saw the atrocities their comrades were committing and balked at the idea of being asked to do the same. And when the time came and orders were issued for the soldiers of eastern command many refused to obey. Captains and Majors and the men under them refused to carry out the orders. A little cold war started within the army, the number of soldiers within eastern command that had refused to participate in Ishval was large enough that central command could not just simply force or dismiss them lest they suffer a tremendous shortage of officers.

But perhaps the most important impact of the story was the effect it had on Ishvalans themselves. The story had given hope to many that had despaired of never having their voices heard, including the most important person in Ishval the prophet of Ishval Logue Lowe decided to extend protection unto Alfred for the duration of his stay in Ishval. The protection of the most important Ishvalan was unknown to Alfred at the time of its proclamation as he wouldn't meet his protector for some time, yet it was likely that this protection saved Alfred's life, the military had set its sights on him and even detained him but he was later released. And the member of the School of Lion that accompanied him later on undoubtedly did his part to help with future investigations.

Ailtree's first story might not have achieved the aims that its author hoped for but it was undoubtedly the spark that lit the flames of resistance in both the good men and women Eastern command and the people of Ishval. And the fortuitous events that it unleashed would eventually evolve into a series of events that would end the conflict of Ishval and change Amestris forever.

I'm torn between taking the +10 for Photo's for the Future (A Circle of Blood), or a free action. But I'll take a free action if you add either of these to your plan.
[]School of the Lion: You trained for a few years as a martial artist… of an Ishvallan School… You think there might be a Teacher around here to help.
or
[]Train: Your hand to hand skills are getting Sloppy… you need to practice more… the work at the desk is making you sloppy…

I was also thinking about getting another training action, but I still have doubts about which one of those two we should pick...
So what would be your pick?

Well I am leaning towards []School of Lion just because that option explicitly has martial applications, and I don't think many alchemist are equipped to deal with martial artist. Plus the chance to make more Ishvalan connections is good.

After thinking a little more I think that since we will be getting Scar with us soon at we can either get him to train us, or we can use his probable bonus to Interacting with Ishvallans to get a better roll for The Lion School ... That is why I was thinking to go for []Train this turn...

But I could be convinced otherwise...
