The Soothing Tree research already has a 95% chance of finishing this turn, so that task is fine.

With my vote, the Ship Communication action has a 78% chance of success. Given the importance of the task, a few more Mind Trees would be wise. 1 more would raise it to 90%; 2 more, 95%.

The final time-sensitive Mind Tree task is researching the ship, which only has 2 dedicated to it. Banked with previous successes, they only have a 6% chance of finishing this turn. I'd recommend at least 3 more here, increasing the success chance to 82% or higher.

We currently have 24 people on erecting a shield and 4 on storing resources, so I feel comfortable going with this.

The big risk is I think the predators sleeping in the gas giants showing up to hunt for our babby monsters. But I'd really rather see where this plot line goes.

I agree with DangerKitty that this is a great investment. Deescalation is always good and the bonus dice on communication actions also look pretty. In the medium term I'd also like to see more research into the empty veil.

if i could get a few more root trees to help me with growing a second sharding tree then that would be cool. Otherwise i think we should have reach out to the humans or researching the soothing tree as one of our three focuses. I think two on collection trees and one on communicating/research is a fine balance, but i feel like all in on the collector trees is a bit overkill at the moment
Soothing is already taken care of we have 8 mind trees on it so highly likely to finish. Focuses are best on growth actions as we get +5 success on growth and +3 on non growth thanks to the power of the collector tree. Really using focuses on more collector trees is the correct call because if we get to say 7 we can then use one focus on growing a different special and guarantee we get 1 a turn.

We don't need more on Soothing tree, we only needed 6 success and had 8 mind trees on it already. Ship communication also has enough to be over an 80% chance to finish. At this point just pick your favorite research project that is not one of the two and do that

@Raising Kittens for Shaping Tree if we have 2 different Defense actions and 1 Shaping tree does that mean both actions get +1 dice?

For any mind trees that have not voted, soothing is maxed. We could use one more on communicate to bump it to almost 90% (both sooth and communicate we want 8 on at max). If the other person that is swapping off Soothing can post that they are doing so that would be great to avoid too many swapping off. Every other action is open at this point

Grow Sharding Tree 1 voter 0 banked success, 10 needed for new tree (this is the takes damage first tree)
Grow Magnetic Tree 1 voter 2 banked success, 8 needed for new tree (this is the +1 success to shield tree)
Grow Feeling Tree 1 voter 1 banked success, 9 needed for new tree (this is the detect stuff tree)

Looking at this we could use some more on collector tree growth. If we get 2 more than an average roll will mean we get 3 new collector trees this turn meaning next turn each Focus on a growth action gets +8 successes (and this is how we get exponential growth rolling).

I would recommend root trees who have not voted (and maybe 1 or 2 of those on the forest growth) to use their action on collector tree growth.

Also, while I'm definitely in favor of opening communications, I don't exactly have high hopes considering how skeevy that scientist has come off so far.

I would very much like to establish communications with them so we can tell them to not keep trying to shoot us since we dont have really any other means.
 
Here's a tally like I did last turn, with all the [Focus] options that aren't currently in the top 3 grouped into one vote so we can just look at the [Action] choices this turn.

We have nine trees on [Action] Research the Soothing Tree. Assuming these are all Minds, they are probably more than we need; this gives us a 95% chance of finishing the action this turn.
We have seven on [Action] Try to reach out to the first Ship. Again, assuming these are all Minds, this gives us a 79% chance of finishing the action this turn, which are good odds but some more would be helpful.
We have five on [Action] Research the incoming Ship. Again, assuming all of them are Minds, we have an 83% chance of finishing it this turn.
We have five on [Action] Grow Collector Tree, currently at 9/10. Since that's currently winning the Focus vote as well, 15 autosuccesses will bring us in two new trees and 4/10 on a third one, which five Root trees would bring to a 38% chance of getting.

Other stuff is farther away. My recommendation is that new Minds voting should try to get one or two more on each of "Try to reach out to the first Ship" and "Research the incoming Ship" before joining other things, and we should definitely not stack more Minds on Research the Soothing Tree when we're already at very good odds to finish this turn. Roots joining Grow Collector Tree would be really nice.

We have 9 banked successes for the collector tree already, so we are garunteed to get two and last time I checked had about a 37% chance of getting three.
