[X] The Striving Spider

Yeah, on second thought this one does sound more like the spider with the canon powers. Good call, @Totadileplayz.
Regardless of my personal desires on the matter. I'd rather have people not put their vote on the wrong spider as it were.

That said If The Maddening Spider seriously did bite Peter. Peter should be Daredevil afterwards because he'd clearly already be blind. It's The Size of Peter's Head after all.

For the people voting for the Thinker Spider, can I ask why? Peter Parker is already one of the most intelligent people in the Marvel universe.

Hmm informative. So in those comics Peter is really smart in presumably 616 and it's relatively recent. Though I'm unsure if it's Reed Richards at that Age or Not. Reed might not be factoring his superpowers into the equation.

That being said what makes you believe this specific Peter is as Smart as 616's Peter Parker?

This chapter. Peter knew more about the sciences involved in the work than the actual scientists working at Oscorp.

Plus this from the author.

Mostly a mixture of comics mixed with some of my own ideas.

Okay So he's smart, some comics cite him as smarter then Reed, and Pym other sources contradict that. What can you do about that eh? Yeah, He's made a time machine and the like. However a lot of geniuses have done that. On the official top 10 super geniuses. Peter's not on it unlike Reed Richards and Hank Pym, and that's going to be more moderated then a single comic panel would be. And the only comic Panel I have found points him as being as Smart as Reed Richards in his youth before Reed got his Superpowers. Something worth noting since his superpowers only increased The Scientist's Intelligence Even Further.

But, let's look at the spiders . When you know full well I don't want the plain powers of the Striving Spider.

There's The Hyper Senses Spider that he quite literally asks how it's not going insane, and is literally called the Maddening Spider. No thanks.
The Hyperintelligent Thinking Spider. No matter I prefer intelligence over anything else. As Such a natural choice for me.
Then The Burning Spider. The Second Choice spider of the bunch. Free Endless energy, but the name of it burning gives me vibes of flame and heat. While the idea of producing energy by itself is a rather interesting and cool ability. The Fact it's called The burning spider is why I don't want to choose it.

Thus, I'm unconvinced. I'm sure Peter Parker Will be quite smart, however a Keener Mind is never a bad thing.

[X] The Thinking Spider

You've made me really think about this one, @Totadileplayz.

Since this is a Spider-Man quest, Peter must retain the core abilities of, well, Spider-Man. So I think one spider contains the canon powers only, and the other spiders contain an extra element in addition to the canon powers.

The Maddening Spider: Enhanced senses. Like we've said, taken to Daredevil-levels.
The Thinking Spider: Enhanced intellect. Possibly NZT-48 inspired.
The Burning Spider: Energy absorption. More than likely heat related.

Alright, well, it looks like you've convinced me. I'll be the one to switch.

i just like how friendly the spider is.
So you want to kill the friendly spider?

There's only 2 of them left if we stay our hand perhaps they're male and female and hundreds of friendly spiders can breed. But, It seems you want to kill them so that there's no hope of those spiders surviving. Let alone think of that friendly spider in that scenario it likely just wanted to say hello, and we simply crush it beneath our boots. If you attribute kindness to a spider wouldn't that be a horrible choice?

Now you made me sad. I'll change my vote.

[X] The Burning Spider

i want mah energy powhas! (Misspelled on purpose to reflect my attitude.)

I'm sorry, I simply felt like I had to explain the inherent problems with choosing the friendly spider for it being a friendly spider. Now Don't get me wrong I can work with that line of logic, and point out the meanest spider, the one that deserves the least sympathy if you want me to work with that.

Don't explain please. I will stick to a vote for that radioactive spider, certain we will never see him or her again regardless of which spider we all pick. *forelorn sigh pressing my hand against the glass* I will remember you as my friend for the rest of my life. I promise you that, little mouse spider.

No, it was one of the children. The others would have seen if it was the big one. And the size meant all dimensions. the main body would be a little bigger than your nose, while its legs could cover your entire face. Just imagine a goliath spider, but slightly bigger, and longer legs. (Still enormously terrifying.)

I think one spider contains the canon powers only, and the other spiders contain an extra element in addition to the canon powers.
I can clarify on this one, and probably should. This is not the case.

how it's not going insane and is literally called the Maddening Spider
There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.

core abilities of, well, Spider-Man
Aye, therein lies the rub, doesn't it. Spider-man has had many incarnations over the years, and each one has been kind of unique in their own way. And his powers have varied as well - from invisibility to electric shocks, from tech to magic - different spiders, different abilities. As they say in the movie - Anyone can wear the mask.
Plus, this is an AU, and things have already changed. Aunt May is dead, instead of Uncle Ben, and his lesson has been about empathy, not responsibility. He may have the name Peter Parker, but our guy is different. That's why it says AU on the title.

The comics have shown Peter Parker with varying levels of smartness - he has been compared to Iron Man and Reed Richards. The problem is, he doesn't quite live up to the label. Sure, he invents gadgets to beat up his enemies, but they're kind of gone when the next one comes around. He never has a power-up, or it disappears when the next author starts writing - partly because the comics want to keep portraying him as an underdog/relatable guy, or somehow, they never work out well, and he must always be self-sacrificing.

In this quest, Peter Parker was always going to be smart (even if you hadn't picked the Intellect option). It wouldn't be enough to reflect numerically, but he would still be able to come up with clever plans for beating his enemies. By picking the Intellect option, you've upgraded him to the level of a really good comic book engineer (nearly equal to any of his science villains, lesser than Stark/Reed, because he lacks resources/experience/talents or any other reason). If you could upgrade it one more time, the Intellect would act as a superpower in itself, and you'll start receiving narrative talents based on that.

Also, every chapter after the first is taking account of your choice. You're smarter cause you chose the intellect option. If you'd chosen something else, the scene would have been slightly different.

hundreds of friendly spiders can breed
But should they?

I'll close the vote a while later, but I believe Thinking Spider is going to take it. Surprisingly unexpected and bold.
