[X] The Alliance for an Independent Jupiter (AIJ)
Despite RubberBand's pitch otherwise, I think this'll be a bigger shake up for us. The IG mission seems like it's going to be risky military operations with a lot of difficulty dealing with repairs and attrition, and that was like the entire first third of Petals of Titanium. I'm not gonna be upset if I get more of that, but I'm putting my vote towards guerrilla tactics. It'll be interesting to have more of our plot conflicts happening on stations and colonies; trying to get intel, contact other cells, smuggle supplies, all while having to stay under the radar of Holy Empire security. Plus it'll give us more opportunities to see what life is like for average people in the setting. We did get to see a bit of that in Titanium, but we still mostly saw the military side of things.
And of course, the big difference that we wouldn't be playing United Empire any more. Granted, the Holy Empire defector we'd probably be playing as with IG probably wouldn't be as ideal a United Empire officer as North was, but playing as a completely different faction is still the bigger change. I got pretty invested in the United Solar Empire throughout Titanium, so a change of perspective of having to view them from the outside, from a faction whose interests happen to roughly line up but whose ideals do not, should be pretty interesting.
Say, with the faction vote in last quest, the factions we didn't pick didn't exist. Obviously the imperial guard isn't going to just get retconned out the story if we don't pick it, but would it not be sending a strike force to Jupiter? And if we didn't pick the AIJ, I don't think it not existing would require any retcons, and if it did still exist, would it not be receiving SRI support?
... Do not tempt me, devil.
I'm not tempting anyone. Best boy might be, though.
