I don't think I have to do this, but just in case:

I don't own Gurren Lagann or World of Darkness, nor do I assert ownership in any way, shape, or form. Please don't sue me.

....That couldn't have been real.

The barrista at the counter calls your name, dragging you out of your stupor. You stand, your knee hitting the table and almost scattering the four packets of sugar you grabbed before you sat down. You grabbed the edges of the table to stop the shaking while awkwardly smiling at the patrons who glanced your way. They went back to their own business leaving you to stew in your own embarrassment. The barrista calls again, holding your cup of coffee up with one hand. You walk over to the counter, say a quiet thank you for the drink, then head back to your table.

As you sit down and sprinkle the sugar into your coffee, your mind returns to yesterday night. You've replayed the events in your head numerous times trying to make sense of what happened. Yet each time, you come up with no logical explanation at all. You rack your brain for so long that steam stops rising from your coffee. Slightly panicking you pick up the cup and take a sip, only to drop it in pain as the still hot liquid scalds your tongue. None it spills anywhere but you do attract the attention of the other patrons again for your gasp of pain. Holding your tongue you chuckle while grabbing your coffee and standing up from your seat. You head out the glass exit door of the Starbucks and start your walk home.

Your mind goes back to last night as you blend into the busy city streets. If replaying the specific events didn't work, maybe retracing your steps from the beginning will. You sip your coffee while trying to remember everything from the beginning.

You were:

[] Trailing one of your co-workers back to their home. You'd been unable to sleep ever since you witness the murder two months ago. When the body was found it was torn up beyond all recognition. The police had no leads and eventually the public forgot about it. But you didn't. You couldn't. Not since you witness that young man get torn to shreds by that...monster. It took you months of searching the internet, looking into old cases at the library, and listening to local hearsay, but you finally got a lead. That lead led you to your co-worker, and last night was the night you were going to exposure them. You bought a pistol the previous day and prepared as much as you could. What happened next...wasn't what you were expecting. (Hunter)

[] Trying to make some allies. You had just arrived in the city of Dallas two months ago with nothing to your name except your magic and the clothes on your back. You immediately set about creating a network of contacts you could call upon for help and shelter while you focused on learning the secrets of the city with your magic. Unfortunately, you were not able to find many of your colleagues in the city. Meaning you had to take some drastic measures. You manged to contact a vampire that was operating in the area, and set up a rendezvous for last night. It was meant to be a simple meeting where the two of you would reach an agreement that would work to your mutual benefit. It...didn't work out that way. (Mage)

I will never stop making Quest! I will do so until the day I die!

But anyway, welcome one and all to a Quest Idea I've had for a while now. Not necessarily a Gurren Lagann X WoD Quest. More just a Gurren Lagann Crossover Quest in general. Long story short, you're character gains Spiral Power from Gurren Lagann and has to deal with everything that comes with it.

So, a few things going forward:

1. I limited it to a Hunter and a Mage because those two seemed like the most interesting stories to tell.

2. This will be a primarily narrative experience, cause it's Gurren Lagann, with very little mechanics at all.

3. I am no expert on WoD, but I will do everything in my power to accurately portray the Setting going forward.

4. Yes, Rule of Cool will be in full effect here. It's Gurren Lagann. What did you expect?

The Vote has Closed. Hunter Has Won.

@LinkOnScepter, what are the beneficts of Hunter?

The primary difference is noteriety and access.

As a Hunter, you're just a normal old human who got a shotgun and wants to fight monsters. Even if you do defeat the vampire, no one's really gonna come looking for you at first. However, it also means you don't have anyone you can really rely on when shit does hit the fan. Plus, you don't have much experience when it comes to supernaturals. You just started.

As a Mage it's the opposite. You're a magic user, and you have already started making waves around here. While you're not on everyone's lips, you are known to a few people around here. This will give you a base that you can rely on in case you need anything, but it also means that the supernaturals will start coming after you sooner. However, since you're a Mage, you're kind of equipped to deal with them. But using magic might just bring more trouble.

Then there's the Spiral Power Aspect.

The Hunter will have your normal type. You will be able to make the Impossible Possible. You'll essentially be the first instance of a normal human being able to stand toe-to-toe with supernaturals without the need of artifacts, magic, or half-breed powers.

The Mage on the other hand....ever wonder what it would be like if Mages didn't have to worry about Reality punishing them when they used their magic? Or if a Mage tried to be a literal Muscle Wizard and set their hand on fire to punch a Werewolf in the face?

In other words the Hunter is an Winchester newbie and Mage is...magic time.

I'll be honest, I really like both, the concept of a world of darkness mage without one of their only limits is awesome, but I just enjoy the narrative of a newbie way in over their head managing to survive and thrive, Rising Up, TURNING EVER ONWARD LIKE A DRILL!!....I enjoy this far too much, don't I.

Lets kick logic to the curb and do the impossible!

The Hunter seems like he'd be better attuned to Spiral Power than the Mage, more in line.

Pretty obvious Hunter wins. I'll have the next update in by Sunday.

Spiral Power Specialty Choice
Many of your peers in high school decided to go right into a four year College or University when they graduated. You decided to go to a Trade School and go into construction work. They all gave you funny looks, thinking that it was a bad idea and you wouldn't make nearly as much as them.

Three years later, they're complaining about Loan Debt while you're making thirteen bucks an hour for picking up and putting down building materials. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows of course. You've had your fair share of asshole clients and on the job injuries, but you've been living just fine. Even managed to save up and buy your own house in a small, quiet neighborhood. Life was going OK for you.

Until two months ago.

Work went on for longer than you were expecting, making you late for your afternoon jog. Not willing to let the body you need to work atrophy, you went on a quick night run. You stuck to the path and made sure to avoid any dangerous areas. But you still saw them. Saw it.

The sight of a young man about your age, having his flesh ripped apart by a monster straight out of a horror movie. You were frozen long to the spot. You couldn't breathe, couldn't scream, couldn't even look away. Like a deer in the headlights, you unwillingly beheld the horrifying act from a safe distance. Five minutes that felt like hours passed before you regained control of your body. You booked it to your car and drove home never once looking back.

You tried to forget what you saw, but you couldn't. Especially not after going through your memories that night, and realizing something that chilled you to the bone. The creature that attacked the young man was wearing the same yellow t-shirt that's apart of your uniform.

This is what ultimately led you to your actions last night. The thought of a monster so close to your job filled you with terror...at first. But as you investigated and discovered that this wasn't its first victim, your terror turned to anger. You couldn't let this go on. The police would never find them, and no one would believe you if you told them. You had to do something.

And so you did. You researched, you tailed, you asked questions. You did everything you needed to catch this fucker. And yesterday it all came to ahead.

The result? Well...

When you confronted the monster, a...former co-worker named James, last night he was hiding out in an alleyway with someone you didn't recognize. They both looked at you with confusion and surprise evident in their eyes. You took out your pistol and aimed it at the bastard, shouting for him to stay where he was.

Then a lot of things happened at once.

The stranger cursed and ran out of the alley through an entrance to the left. You would've followed him if James hadn't tackled you to the ground. He moved faster than you could react, knocking the gun from your hand when you tried to aim it at him. His rancid breath made you gag as he chuckled. His canines had elongated into fangs that he prepared to sink into your neck.

That was when things got...strange.

[] First, you grabbed James by his neck and threw him off you. Then you beat the everliving Hell out of him. You just...decimated him with punches, not stopping until his head was unrecognizable. You stopped only when he stopped breathing. (Spiral Power: Internal, Start with Enhanced Physical Capabilities, Your Attacks Can Hurt Supernaturals)

[] Your hands frantically searched the ground around you for something, anything, you could use as a weapon. When you felt a small, pointed object against your palm you didn't hesitate. You shoved it into James' neck...and next thing you knew his body was filled with a bright green light. He and you shared one last look of confusion. Then he exploded...literally. (Spiral Power: External, Start with a Core Drill, You Can Give Others Spiral Power Boost)

To explain the difference:

Spiral Power: Internal: Focuses on using your Spiral Power to enhance you. You can use it to increase your physical abilities, accomplish feats that you normally couldn't, straight up not die when you're supposed to, and protect your mind from hostile influences.

Spiral Power: External: Focuses on using your Spiral Power to enhance things/people around you. You can use it to put Spiral Power into other objects and transform them, activate machines and objects that can accept Spiral Energy, inspire your allies to fight harder/accomplish the impossible, and give them full access to their own Spiral Power.

You'll be able to use both of these. This choice is just to see which one your best at, and also what bonuses you start with.

Considering that he just learned that monsters out of bedtime stories are real, throwing everything you thought you knew about the world to a loop, he's taking it all rather well.

I admit, the bit about this being the inspirational side is what really sold it for me. I really enjoy that kind of thing, where you boost your friends, inspire others, yeah. I really enjoy that.

You did go through that whole "OH MY GOD! MONSTERS ARE REAL! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST MAN!" phase. It's just 1) I didn't think it needed to be included and 2) this is technically a flashback. You don't want to go over the time you stayed in bed cause you were too scared to go outside in case the monster was chasing after you again.

Also, you don't actually know that there's an entire supernatural community yet. You think it's just this one guy and maybe a few others. For now.

External would help when we have a team/faction for taking down other factions, but Internal will keep us alive rather than getting shanked/mind fucked by surprise, and as such if FAR more important to start with imo.
