[X] To the entrance. Izzy and Mimi should still be there. Maybe if you give them something to do, they won't try and break down the door.

[X] You're pretty close to Tai and Kari's dots. Now, you don't know if they're on the same floor as you... If they aren't, you could be lost for a while.

I almost want to assure Joe that we-Sora have been as honest and transparent as we can be, considering what he was saying about everyone hiding things from him. I know I can't think of anything we tried to hide. But at the same time, I don't want to make him feel mad at us for eavesdropping, even if it's just what we happened to overhear as we approached.

Koemon is probably going to be in the basement with everyone else.

[X] Wherever Matt and TK have gotten off to. You don't know why they wandered off, and it'd probably be best to get the reason for it as soon as you can.

And now to try and loop back around... somehow.

Well, not breaking the front door might be a good thing. Potentially. You still don't technically have an exit plan.

This Is Not A Drill
"Izzy and Mimi probably haven't moved," You note. "Matt and TK, though... well, we can find them later."

"So, we're heading back to where we started?" Joe doesn't seem particularly enthused about the idea.

"Well, it's that or wander lost looking for people who might not even be on the same floor as us." You don't really feel up to that at the moment. Honestly, it's not something you want to do at all, but you don't think you have a choice in the matter, so you may as well put it off as long as you can.

Once you put it like that, Joe doesn't seem willing to argue about it anymore. Most likely, he hates the idea of being lost here just as much as you do.

Well. Even more lost. Given what you saw earlier... it seems inevitable that you might get turned around on yourselves if you don't have directions, or a particular location to focus on. And even then...

Well, at the very least, you have confirmed that this castle is bigger on the inside now. However much that helps you.

There are still no signs of any presences as you and Joe walk back towards the entrance. You're pretty creeped out, now, to be honest. You're also starting to wonder if maybe the various inhabitants of this castle have just fallen off of the bridges in that one room into the abyss below.

It wouldn't really surprise you. It is the Digital World.

When you pass back by the abyss, Biyomon ventures over to peek down it. "I think there might be something there," She tells you. "But I'm not going to fly down to find out! It could take forever to get back up again!" Right. No sending your partner down a possibly-bottomless pit. Not that you were planning to do such a thing, anyway.

The rest of your walk back, you're just aware of how much your footsteps echo in these empty halls. You also wonder just why there's electric lights in the ceilings of a stone castle that looks to be this old, before remembering the world that you're in and deciding not to question it.

Discarding questions based on being in the Digital World has probably saved you a lot more time than you'd expect.

Once you get to the entrance, you see that the Bakemon that was knocked out there has left, and that Palmon and Tentomon appear to be taking their turns attacking the door.

The group has been joined by a small bat Digimon, who sighs. "Look, I keep telling you, it's not going to work! If it were that easy, we would all have broken out a long time ago!"

"What's going on?" Joe asks.

"We're trying to open the way back outside," Izzy explains. "My laptop's still not giving me any good information, it's like this place is on total lockdown."

"That's because it is," The bat says. "At least, that's the best word we have for it. Nobody who comes in can leave unless they can do some really weird stuff. We've been thinking Wizardmon might be able to make a way for the rest of us, but..." You'll assume that they haven't been having any luck.

You wonder why nobody mentioned it before.

"So, anyway," You decide to change the subject. "I came here because-" Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice speaks up. You can't see a loudspeaker or anything, so you don't have any idea where it comes from, but it appears to be projected from somewhere.

"May I have your attention, please? All non-Bakemon- Rookies, Champions, Ultimates, or DigiDestined- are to report to the lowest basement level at once. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill. All non-Bakemon..."

"...That." You're sort of amused by the implications that they have drills for this, but at least you won't need to go running around the entire castle.

"Well, I guess this had to actually happen eventually..." The bat mutters, taking flight. "All of you, keep up, okay? Wouldn't want the boss mad with me 'cause I lost a kid or something." Well. At least one of you knows what to do in this situation.

You should probably ask some questions, though, this seems a bit... off.

[ ] Why aren't the Bakemon included?

[ ] There are drills for this?

[ ] So, what's the purpose of this whole thing, anyway?

[ ] Who is this talking, and how is he doing it?

[ ] What's so special about the lowest basement level?

[X] So, what's the purpose of this whole thing, anyway?

I'm guessing that the Bakemon aren't included because they can leave the castle somehow. While the purpose is probably to leave the castle, I'm hoping that asking about it will get us more details.

I am so tempted to vote [ ] There are drills for this?

But, I feel like a more pertinent question should be asked:
[X] So, what's the purpose of this whole thing, anyway?

[X] What's so special about the lowest basement level?

The most important question I have any hope of getting answered here. I doubt Demidevimon was ever told the purpose of those drills.

I doubt that all of the Digimon would have been willing to go along with the drills if they thought the drills were pointless. I suspect that the drills were used to keep hope alive that they would be able to escape the castle someday.

Again, jumping right to the biggest question and hoping that there's an answer.

Or, well, an answer that DemiDevimon remembers, at least.

The Depths of the Castle
"So, why are we doing this, anyway?" You ask as you follow the little round bat across a bridge over the yawning abyss. There's actually a few Bakemon floating on various other bridges, so it actually feels a bit like this place is inhabited now.

"It's something we've had to do for a while now. None of us ever thought it was actually going to happen, but the boss kept insisting. Said we needed to be ready for when the DigiDestined showed up, because that was how- well, how things were going to get better. And... that when the time came, we had to do this fast as possible, because he didn't know how much time we actually had."

So there's an actual urgency to this? "But... what is it, exactly?"

"I'm not entirely sure. It's just... we have this really big basement, with doors that never open. If we're not running a drill or anything, Lord Myotismon doesn't like going near them. I got here after we started doing this, but... I think it has something to do with those doors."

Maybe, but... that doesn't explain why they'd be waiting for you DigiDestined. If Digivices are needed, well, apparently one of them had one of those, until Kari got it for herself. So it can't be the Digivices.

It could be the Crests, maybe, they already had one in storage, and it would explain why the Tags were sent out in the first place. But they also thought that the Crest of Light was destroyed, and you don't know how many they'd need for that kind of thing.

The fact that you're needed, somehow... it's strange. Like you're all just components in some inane ritual.

The bat Digimon leads you all to a large staircase, larger than the one you used before, that seems to sink into the earth itself. "We could have just flown down from those bridges," He admits. "But the Dokugumon nest there, and they're... pretty territorial, even when it doesn't really matter." That does seem to be your experience with Digital arthropods.

"How many floors are there?" Izzy asks. You can't tell if he's doing it because he's honestly curious, or if he's judging how far he'll have to walk.

It could be both, though. Actually, with him, it's probably both.

"Fifteen floors. Five aboveground, and ten underground." That's a lot more than you'd expect, looking at the castle from the outside. But, well, if most of it's underground.... it almost makes sense. As much as anything in this world can, anyway.

"That's a lot of stairs," Mimi comments. "So... we should get going now, right?"

"Well, I don't want to cause a holdup," Joe agrees. "I mean, if this actually is important, or anything."

"I'm sure it is!" The bat Digimon insists. "We've been told to do this three times every year for every year I've been here! We wouldn't do that sort of thing with no reason!"

You consider, for a moment, pointing out that everyone is trapped inside of a castle where the only inherently interesting thing is a giant section where there are almost no floors. But you don't want to irritate the one who actually knows where he's going here.

So, instead, you follow him down a set of stairs that are nearly pitch-black.

When you finally come out on the lowest floor, you walk through a hallway leading to an expansive room with a giant set of double doors in the very back. Looking up, you see the ceiling flicker, revealing darkness above.

This must be the bottom of the abyss.

Your friends are already here, as well as a fairly-large gathering of Digimon. You assume that any Digimon not currently present was on one of the upper floors when the announcement was made.

There's no sign of Myotismon anywhere. Given that he was the one who announced this whole thing, you wonder why he hasn't arrived yet. The message was, after all, for all those that weren't Bakemon.

Either way, you probably shouldn't worry about that too much. There's probably some time before... whatever is going on... really happens.

And, well, you might be able to figure this out better if you talk to someone else. Or actually look around for clues. Something that's not standing around and staring at everything.

[ ] Talk to...
-[ ] Tai.
-[ ] Kari.
-[ ] Matt and TK.
-[ ] Koemon.
-[ ] Gotsumon.
-[ ] An odd Digimon with a pumpkin for a head.
-[ ] A Digimon wearing a blue wizard's hat.

[ ] Inspect...
-[ ] The doors.
-[ ] There's an odd altar in the center of the room...

[X] Talk to...
-[X] Kari.

I want to finally meet Gatomon and see how Kari is doing now that she's met her Digimon partner. Though I'm a bit confused as to how many things we should vote for here. I thought at first that we should vote for 1 Talk to option and 1 Inspect option.
