But even if it's not a legitimate vote, I need to show my whole-hearted support for Haffy. Or should that be Barffymony? Anyway, awesome chapter as always!

I agree, but Haffy is a pairing we actually want to work, while these ones are all obviously doomed ships. We have to go through a failed romance before we get the right one. But which flavor of doomed ship do we want?

Warren - I'm leaning towards no. We do want to make him better than he's season 6 self, but I think we can do that just by regular interactions. I also don't want to lose his support to our mayoral campaign when the romance falls apart

Sam Wickett - He's still getting used to the idea of how weird this town can get and will likely get scared off by Buffy and everything around here soon enough. Might make things a little awkward with the SDCW for a bit

Nathaniel - he's alright, too much of a mess up and too little in common with Buffy for anything to last. He's far enough away from us and our interests that it shouldn't be too bad when they break up.

I'd rather not go there at all, but this is Buffy, so I'll just pick something that will burn to the ground with what looks like the least amount of collateral damage.

I really can't picture Nate pulling a Parker, and outside of that the average Buffy relationship lasts a long time. I really doubt the vote here is a vote for a short term thing that will crash and burn in short order.

True, but all the buffy relationships that got past 2 episodes went on for at least a season. I dont expect Nate to burn out next episode and thus he will be around for a very long time.
And we can all agree Nate sucks. However, just to play devil's advocate, he's probably safer to dump than Warren. That one got psycho over being dumped once, he could do so again.

Really feel like Harmony is best girl here, the only other one I care about, Warren, is likely to end in tears. Well, even more tears than usual.

I know, but I really don't think he'll last that long. It'd be long distance if anything were to happen, and he'll probably be busy with his Sorceror Clan stuff while we're busy here being the mayor, I don't think he really gets how Sunnydale works all that well, and in general they don't seem to have similar temperaments or interests. If I was worried about it stretching out past this episode to cover the half-season, I'd vote for someone else. As is, i think we'll just see Anya throwing someone at us, we'll give it a shot and then when it falls apart quickly, we'll move on.

I agree wholeheartedly to all of these points. Dating Warren seems like a sure way to lead to creepy buffybots.

My big concern is that the big sorcerer thing Nate can do for his clan is get closer to Buffy. He isnt actually good at the magic they care about, and he isnt good enough at the magic he wants them to do to work as a shining example. Keeping closer ties to the polity down the road that has shown a willingness to come to town and also help them out is the most useful thing they could have Nate doing.

Maybe. I don't think they'd trust him with that kind of task though (and even if they did I'm not sure he'd succeed at gaining Buffy's affections that way). I could see switching to Sam, if I didn't think he'd linger on for longer than Nate would.

I suppose I just cant see this vote leading to something short. Buffy at the start of season 4 was looking for something long term, she went all in on Parker and tried to keep him for a bit even after he turned on her. I suppose Nate isnt the worst person to have around for a season or so, but that is absolutely the duration I'm expecting from this vote.

I will be locking this up in about 12 hours. People should as always be aware of approval voting, as it is a strong multivote race.

I was going back through the discussion and found this line kind of amusing, largely because I sort of thought it was the opposite. Namely that leaving him alone is what leads to Buffybots. He made the Aprilbot before he had s girlfriend after all.

Apparently, Approval voting exists whatever that is, and somehow voting for two people is better than one?

I don't particularly like Warren, but at least he's better than Nate. He and Willow can be nerds together, and he can be Xander's geeky dude bro, and even Joyce will like that we're dating an up-and-coming businessman (who's also alive and about our age), and Warren will insiduously insert himself into the Scoobies and Buffy's life in general, until he begins acting skeevy and making us uncomfortable, but we'll hesitate to break things off because all of our support network is likely to be on his side.

So Buffy will live out a ham-fisted allegory to an emotionally abusive relation for about a seasonish or so, then Warren starts building Buffybots and we can solve all our problems with violence. Seems very Buffy-verse appropriate, I approve.

Changing for tactical reasons.
I think Sam would have been nice and harmless as long as it lasts, but he isn't winning.

Wow, that's a three way tie we're looking at right now. I did not anticipate that when the vote began. I guess I should vote for what I actually want to happen, not what ship I want to sink as soon as possible. Warren, I want to help make sure that he doesn't become his season 6 self, but I'm not sure if I want us to be that close to him, it just seems like down the line it will lead to a lot of problems. It's early for Harmony and Buffy to begin dating, but their connection and the reasons why I think they'd work aren't really going to change. They have really good interactions together an I'd like to see more of them. Plus, it's a vampire + Buffy, that's a tried and true formula for multiple season romances, so if she's looking for something that's long lasting, this is a good one.
Edit: Also it'll be kinda funny if the other three are options that Anya carefully picked out for us and then to watch her face as we toss them aside for Harmony
