She Sold Her Soul To The Company Store

A lot of it is about how you approach the obstacle. To say the obvious, the first option is head-on, brute-force, etc, etc. All of that would come up in other ways.
So its basically a character preference vote, which would likely slide into a Specialization in the future.

Im still not sure which to vote for though. On the identity side, being Blunt should be good enough since we dont know the deal is with assuming identity.

[X] "I'm what remains of Ito Naoko. What do you want to buy?" Be a bit more direct, and hedge on the Naoko question. You can think about her later.

I can explain both bits, sort of. Shadows weren't, strictly speaking, allowed to be people. It's extremely against policy. You're officially property of the earthworks and company equipment and all that.

But to work, you have to think how Naoko does, act how she acts, say the things she does. The hologram you're using now is the same system she used to remote into work, I think I mentioned? So you're wearing her digital body, speaking with her face and voice.

To an outside observer, you could make a good argument that you're Naoko herself, just a copy of her mind that's been kept alive. There isn't a clear line there.

The vote will start determining how you feel about that, if you want to claim Naoko as an identity, distance a bit, or try and carve something new for yourself. To some extent, it also beings to establish if you think of yourself as a person or not.

For specializations, there'll be more votes contributing in the next update, I think, but I can give you a good question. How far do you think surveillance and sensor tech have advanced in a century? What still exists out in the world?

[X] The kid looks kinda hungry, and one of the last items you remember was a privilege escalation flaw in the breakroom replicators. You could take advantage of that, make way more food than Naoko was authorized for, and get an elevator sent down from maintenance to hijack. They always got more equipment and accesses than you have as a "security consultant".

[X] The actual Forges down in B3 are more geared towards heavy equipment, but they can produce anything NorEast Earth sold. You'd just need to have actual employee credentials for someone higher up, to authorize it. Getting that would mean hunting around a little, but you'd always had a way with sensors.

One must think of one's fellow worker. Seize the means of production!

[X] "I'm Naoko, pleased to make your acquaintance. I hope we can meet your needs." Stick to the script, and borrow what you half remember from company training.

Claim the identity. No one nowadays is going to understand the nuance.

[X] Just take the elevators to the product testing lab. The stuff is locked down with trackers and you'll have to work on that security, but it's a lot faster than anything else. You'd need to do a lot of brute force hacking, but sometimes head-on was the best way to confront these things.

Curious about what's is the testing lab!

If we take the credentials, do we keep the credentials? I want to know about advancement opportunities in the demonic hierarchy. :V

«Make a Demon Pact with me!»
Better than a marshmallow chew toy telling us to make a contract.
"Need «treasures! Shiny artifacts!»" they chirp, excitedly. They're really getting into this talking thing now, waving their knife around jauntily and bouncing on their claws.
OMG I love this, so cute!

[X] "Okay, Ayax. What do you want?" Acknowledge their introduction, but move to business and don't give yours. They don't need to know, yet? You're just talking, after all.

I wonder how much time has passed? If these insect people have had time to evolve, then it's been millions of years at the least. It's hard to believe the Seattle skyscrapers (let alone the computers and power) have held up that long.

Unless the insects are uplifts who survived the fall? In that case it could only a few centuries/millennia.

The means of production, comrades~

I want us to be our own person. And the credentials sound valuable.

I think a mix of both the old person of the old world and creating a new person exploring herself while she does the new world would be interesting. Plus, hey, a security consultant sounds useful in a setting that has Fantasy-ish!adventurers.
