Shield Hero, but hopefully Heroic

*stares*
This is why I don't want to aim for anything less then a shining paladin. Also another notch on the 'do not give Questors red buttons' tally.
[X]Dignity
We're going to be another arc cleaning up this new mess.

[X] Dignity.

Rage option leads to more RAGE. Break option might mean the end of the quest? I'm suspicious of any colored options, which is why I'm not voting for Serenity. I currently suspect it to be ROYAL AMBITION, which could lead to us taking over the country and then NOT STOPPING. I'm hoping that Dignity will lead to actual healing.

We still have a quest to complete and people are voting to rage... Are we really going to fall to our own malice this early? We already gave-in to our rage once and it got us crippled, causing us to spend silver instead of investing it or monster hunting.

I'd rather not give us more trauma to work through. We've been making good strides so far and we still have more personal problems to work out.

Question: Why do people think that Dignity can lead to healing?

To me, the options seem to pretty clearly refer to Yukihime's reaction/emotion to being vivisected and experimented upon. On what planet is acting dignified upon having parts of your body undergo necrosis a healthy reaction? Like, I am 99% certain we are at a 'pick your poison' beat in the story, and it isn't the kind of poison that can be easily diluted to a cure.

Speaking of, the phrasing of Rage reminded me of something:
[ ] A local warlord was interested in you and constantly sent people to fuck you over. There was many close calls, it taught you many valuable lessons but it also left you damaged. There are grotesque scars of battle littering your body but the most prolific ones were on your mind. You have enough hate to kill.
[ ] You were maimed. You got cocky, you thought you were some hot shit due to your accomplishments and it cost you dearly. One slip up is all it took for your enemy to take advantage of your lapse of judgement and slash your entire half of your face and your eye. You lived, in agony and your bootleg medical work managed to make it not worse.
[ ] Drugs. You weren't strong enough to live in this world. It started slowly, a curiosity in an opiate. It wasn't long until you were dependent on drugs to the point that it was the only thing you really thought about at the end of the day.
[ ] Disease. You were dying slowly. You didn't know exactly what was wrong with you but you felt it. Your days were spent feverish and in pain, and in a vicious cycle starved you out due to not being able to get the resources and medicine you needed to survive.

We have, in order: Getting enough Hate to kill, having our body be horribly Broken and being addicted to a drug-related Peace.

The only one that doesn't map clearly is Dignity, but at the same time the Disease is the only one that wasn't caused by Yuki's personal failings. It is, in a way, the one choice that would've preserved her dignity through chargen.

We are currently infested with a nightmare demon that's digging through our worst moments. No way we'll go out of this without trauma, that ain't how this kind of beast acts.

[X] Dignity.

Honestly, it seems like the only option that would actually archive the aim of this meditation session.

Hate seems like a cheap way to win, unless it leads to something like well placed righteous fury. Not only that, having 'You have enough hate to kill' literally linked to our trauma makes it a no go to me.

Trauma: 12. Your hands are trembling.
Nicotine Addiction. It takes the edge off, something to focus on other than the bombs or the guns.
Malnutrition. It's fine, I can go without for a little while more, please do not feel bad for me.
Paranoia. Whats that over there? Is it a shadow? A dagger in the night? Someone trying to kill me?
Grievously Scarred. Your body is a mess, a true horror show encompasses your entire body. You avoid mirrors, you can still feel the phantom pain when you look at them.
You have enough Hate to kill

As for 'break', we break it or we break and somehow gain something from it? No idea.

Serene... Meh, seems to be linked with pride, at least based on similarly colored thoughts.

Dignity seems like the most obvious 'good' option, and probably the harder to pull out if there is some background rolls going around.

...So why Dignity? You, I think have a very good point about getting more trauma.
But...Here's my thinking-If we die standing, staring defiantly to the end...We might still need a quick visit to a Demi-Human Priest equvilant, or kiss the King's Mission goodbye/ risk cripping Bow boy, but on the flipside, if we do not bow to the trauma, that's the closest thing to a win we can rip from this situation.
...
Admittedly we might also end up eating whatever weakening of our body the Disease route would have given us. Good thing we're close with an Apothocary! Maybe she'll end up becoming an early second companion.

And we still have a bow hero to deal with after this
...
and being addicted to a drug-related Peace.
This is the one I'm not sure maps correctly when you compare it with the purple line in the previous chapter
Maybe you should be the one to rule?
Also, rage is an appropriate response, but in the process, Yuki would also be breaking 'Saki', one of the core pillars that's holding her together. I'm not quite sure how a Yuki that's forced to lash out and hurt even the one she swore she'd never hurt, would end up.
You grit your teeth if it was anyone else you would be able to do ANYTHING against it, but you couldn't... Not in a million years lay a hand on Saki, even if it's a mere mirage. You sit down into a seiza, you would go down with pride if at all.
I'm still trying to puzzle out what effects Serenity and Dignity might have on Yuki.

. After an hour of debate, haggling you came to an agreement to fund him 200 Silver Pieces for 2% of his total earnings for the next year. The return rate looks like you will safely bring in at least 50 copper a week.

you would give him 100 Silver Pieces in return for 4% of his earnings for Six Months and a Lifetime Discount. You have a feeling he was just using this as an excuse to reel the other heroes in, but cheap food is good food. Bringing in the other heroes wouldn't be too bad actually, it'd benefit you as well as his business partner. You determined that this deal will net you around 20 - 60 copper a week.

I haven't caught up yet, but I'm not sure any of the math here makes sense? With only 52 weeks in a year we're losing massive amounts of money on both of these investments.

Well, let's see. The first has a return of at least 50 coppers a week for 52 weeks, which translates into 2,600 coppers or 26 Silvers for the year for an overall loss of 174 Silvers.

The second investment has a return of 520 - 1,560 coppers or about 5-16 Silvers plus a lifetime discount. Not counting the discount, the overall loss is about 84-95 Silvers.

Yeah, you're right. Yukihime is REALLY bad at investing her money.

I'm hoping this was unintentional on the part of the QM.
