A Look into the Cast (You learn a bit about these guys).
(Frank Rush POV)
"Yes Henry...The new fighters are on board, you go play nice for the camera and play politics I'll get everything done." You noted as you looked at the I-pad again and checked the list twice already.
"Okay. Should I call Lang?" A thought entered as you talked to yourself. "No...I got to finish this up."
You looked over the list another time and watched a man enter your blind spot. "Commander, Wolf and Skull Squadron are ready for the show."
You looked at him with your one eye and glared."It's not a show son, if it was we wouldn't use live ammo, this is an exercise disguised as a publicity event. If I had it my way, we would have kept this as low profile as possible."
The young man gulped. "Sir this ship is a decade worth of R&D and human cooperation it represents our ability to work together."
Like a goddamned idealist, He better grow out of that mindset quick or I'll make him. "Listen son, I'm not like Gloval, do you want to know what this thing represents to me?"
The young man was silent. "The Fermi Paradox, we are not alone...and we are fucked, if intelligent life exists and is capable of waltzing right in from God knows where in an instant with every intention of war, then we are sunk."
"Sir...everything on board was dead, dead for centuries maybe." The young man said to your face.
"You noted the battle scorching on it when it arrived, scoring that could not have been made by any debris or the introduction of it into our atmosphere, As a soldier that scares me." You finished.
The young man blinked behind his sunglasses."That is a terrifying thought...what made you think that."
You smiled. "I read too much Scifi as a kid. Thrawn Trilogy was my favorite."
"Really me too." The young man stated. "Nice talking with you Commander Rush."
"What's your name son? I might be flying with you." You asked as the overarching question entered your head.
"Wolfe Sir...Johnathan Wolfe." John said to you with a salute.
"Johnny...go luck out there Leutnate." You said giving him leave.
You always hated these public specticals...too much room for chaos.
What would happen if the Anti-Unification league attacked, absolute madness.
If there was one thing you had to like about dad, it was that he always brought you to diffrent and strange places. The fact you were here around a goddamned spaceship made all the bad things you said about him somewhat untrue.
Sure...you two grew distant since mom died and work made him unavalible most of the time and you hated him for not actually being around for a good portion of your childhood, fighting a war and leaving you alone, but he did care.
You turned and took a photo of some guy's who were watching, A photo for one of those stunt plane pilots from the circus and one of Captain Gloval.
You looked next to you and saw the bespected man looking at you. "Oh hey, you with one of the news groups?"
You sighed, carry a camera and they always assume that you work for news. "Nope...sorry buddy. Names Jane by the way."
The guy nodded. "Names Max by the way."
The guy looked rather normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, eitherway the guy looked rather normal.
"Neat...so, wanna watch it all start." You said.
"Alright…"Max said.
Jane looked at the SDF-1. "Well lets see this go."
--------------------------------------------
(Jack Archer POV)
You looked up from the cockpit to the city below and the fact Roy and his kid brother were argueing.
It was a quiet peaceful moment. The ones you always knew would end in something.
It was a quite moment of realization.
You saw the flash of light that was the fist shot streak the sky.

The Day had started like any other, which in hindsight was probably how most wars started, that eerie calm just before the war that changed humanity forever.
My only regret was that I never enjoyed the final night of peace.-Jack Archer.
You hoped that the smell of the uniform wouldn't be noted by anyone. "Great washing machine breaks, now I'm running late." It was bad enough that you were volunteered into 444th Squadron as a replacement officer to deal with that Anti-unification uprising in Venezuela.
Then there was the redeployment to Macross Island barely three days later after you finished, and Finally the party a night ago was still somewhat hard from recover from...you drank half a bottle of tequila on a bet and won.
Nothing a night of sleep couldn't fix but you were allowed that. "God...that party. I hope the commander doesn't rip my ass the pieces."
Frank Rush was half a legend, hell he was a legend from before the Global War, he was the most effective man here, and he was the XO to Gloval, witch told amazing competence on his part.
You proceeded to move to the airstrip and saw Roy. "Roy!! You still owe me 150 bucks!!" It was the money he owed you from the party.
Roy gave a winning smile to you. "Hey...You'll get your money Jack. Squadron ready for the big day?"
You nodded. Ten years you've been in and off this island preparing for this day subconsciously as the day of reckoning would come. "So...you think we'll meet any aliens Roy...hot ones."
Roy laughed. "If I'll let you know...I talk to Rick, you how he is. Plus he needs the advice."
"I swear military life suits him...at least convince him to join the reserves. We need guys who can fly these damned things." You said noting your Veritech fighter.
"Hard enough to train guys to fly these things." You complained as Roy moved to talk to him.
You sighed as you looked up to the sky. "One of these days I'm going up there. And seeing what you're made of."
----------------------------------------------
You noted the beam of light streak across the sky and out of orbit. "Were they testing something."
For a moment there was no response from anyone on any channels.
You breathed in and let a moment pass.
Then you heard the Commander's voice. "Gentleman...we just fired off the main gun, I think we're at war. Be on standby...Oh god where the hell did they come from, All units Unknown forces have entered Macross Airspace Assume full combat-"
The UFO's started crashing into city...oh shit aliens real live fucking aliens.
"Captain, Skull squadron has began to engage the enemy what the hell do we do." One of the other pilots asked as more explosions cropped up across the city.
You had to make a course of Action, It was war after all.
