[X] The Shadow:

Some people just want to see fate broken. Burned. Destroyed.

In one time, He Who Arises In Might was felled after many wars and near successes, at the precipice of total domination.

I say step over that edge.

And who doesn't want to play as the evil overlord for once?

In this greatest of the Ages, I want to play as a truly great faction, one in which the near mythological prowess and feats of the First Age are most embodied. To play with literal gods and demigods at our call, to send forth monsters of legend. We have the Lord of the Rings as a servant, we have the entity that molded the very earth in his essence, that's just so fucking cool.

I just...can't get that sheer awesome vibe from dwarves.

The coolest stuff came from Morgoth and Angband, from rivers of fire to fire demons and dragons, nevermind vampires and werewolves.

@Telamon
I notice that Melkor and Sauron have no grace despite being Vala and Maia respectively. Is that because the nature of the strength of their soul is different?

Yes.

They actually work on a different, but similar, system, as do all creatures of the Shadow. Instead of Grace they possess Power — it is their malice, their drive, and their will to conquer. Their Power is roughly equal to what their Grace once was, and provides much of the same benefits. Power, unlike Grace, can be invested into Artifacts and Strongholds to make them greater, at a permanent cost.

Power can also be lent and stolen, unlike Grace, which offers a lot of opportunities for evil leaders to quickly and dirtily grow stronger at the expense of others.

Melkor has 40 Power at game start, and his Power actually regenerates slowly. When he invests it into the Earth or into artifacts, however, his maximum Power cap is permanently reduced. This is how he ended up being nearly as physically weak as Fingolfin — he invested his power into the earth, vastly strengthening his armies and leaders at the cost of his own personal might.

@Mortenkam If you wanna vote for a human faction you should vote for Bëor instead of Hador. Beor actually has a chance of maybe taking the lead if it gets enough votes.

[x] The Sindar
[x] The Shadow

But seriously tho, evil overlord quest. We just need to remake everything in our own image :V

@Telamon If we do come in to possession of one of the Silmarils can we do what Faenor refused to and give them to the Valar so they can restore the trees?

[X] The House of Bëor

Going for this, as I just really like the idea of playing as one of the Houses of Men. Though if Durin's Folk wins, not going to be sad.
