[X] Hereticus. The Agri-World of Palin's Reach has risen in rebellion against the Imperium, and without its harvests a dozen industrialised worlds will rapidly experience food shortages. The Admiral knows little of the purported causes for such rebellion, but he is certain that his fleet is not the only one that the Imperium will commit to see the world returned to the fold.

Oof.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'M SO HAPPY!

I'm also glad it went about as it did for Sir Admiral. It's an honest mistake and Ignatius has an honest response.

Obviously we should let Ignatius handle the continuing details of the Admiral's chastisement.

Breaking down the update itself.

The first little bit opening with a description of Toth's Revenge is interesting because of how it sets the manifested machine spirit at counterpoint with Ignatius. What I mean is that he is a man of compassion and the cloth. It is a machine of murder and they have to find common cause.

It is both funny and concerning to see Ignatius so ticked that he doesn't exactly care about the freak out he's generating amongst the crew.

I really like the concern Ignatius shows for the souls of machines as well. It really fits him to be concerned about such things.

The interaction Ignatius makes with the Admiral and his own chastisement by Revenge is a great way to curb him and humble him and is very enjoyable to read. I think there is also some Strange Tongue Understanding going on there with the Tech Priest, coupled to his Eclipse and Zenith facets.

And with the final confrontation with the Admiral we see that it was just hasteful folly born of arrogance.

All three of these vote options can create the start of a Crusade when described by Ignatius to his followers. Malleus is thus the most simplistic because it is a crusade against the darkness. The followers of Ignatius will gladly leap into the fray, for zeal, for fear of damnation and the desire for redemption therein, for love. It will also hurt Ignatius to spend the lives of his flock against the demon host. It will for all of the options to spend the lives of the faithful. There is also the risk of betrayal in this option because some of his flock may fall. From a perspective of mirroring like I have discussed before it is a case of anathema and evil pushing at the edges of the good. Ignatius's presence by itself will impact morale positively and damage the daemons of Chaos.

Hereticus could become a more missionary Crusade instead of a militant one, though militant would still hold a sizable chunk of it. It would really be riding the tiger because you have to figure out the root cause of the rebellion, the multitude of reasons as to why. So that the proper mirrored response can be set. The followers of Ignatius would have to be watched to make sure they don't lose themselves and his teachings in zeal for those teachings, a test of those teachings. He's also well skilled in the necessary things to handle this from a social and missionary perspective by, to use mirroring again, to correct their wayward path.

The Xenos are a sort of heathen crusade and the defilement of religious holds will make it a buring affront to all of Ignatius's faithful. Really riding the tiger here, but it may also be simplistic if it is just Dark Eldar mucking about. It would also begin to teach Ignatius if it is possible to convert or redeem Xenos such that they are not a threat to mankind.

Hmm....

I want to kill daemons and get exorcism on.

[X] Malleus. A Space Hulk has exited the warp in half a dozen systems in a broadly predictable path, and wherever it appears the local worlds and indeed the spaces between them are rapidly beset by tides of daemonic predators. The Angels of Death are moving to cut out the threat at the source, and have called for any available forces nearby to buy them the time they need to find victory. The Admiral knows not how many will be free to answer the call.

[X] Xenos. The Aeldari are raiding the worlds of the Josophine Cluster, taking captives and sowing misery wherever they go. They have begun to exhibit a noted fondness for striking at sites of faith and worship in particular, leaving butchered bodies and desecrated shrines in their wake. The Admiral expects a strong response to this affront, but also predicts that the aliens would need to be blind to think there would be any other result, and is grimly certain there is more to this than meets the eye..

Death to the Dark Eldar

Fuck the elves.

[X] Malleus

I admit, I was flipping up a bit between this and Hereticus- Either has the possibility for us to demonstrate that no, what we preach is not the same as actual heresy (chaos-worship).

Fucking up a batch of daemons is exactly what we need right now.

Isn't Ignatius one of those philosophical types who's kind of on the fence as to whether or not Eldar actually are capable of reason, or if they're just another arm the universe uses to swat mankind around for giggles?

I could swear I remember that being a thing.

I kind of want to see how that stands up to scrutiny...

Ehhh, easier to keep Malleus.
