Why would I mind? Sure, go ahead.

On an unrelated note, a question to those who know the rules. If we don't take Unfinished Business, do we get a chance to pick it up at a later date?

Also also, this just occurred to me: @Pangolin, are we meant to do this by plan or is it a free-for-all?

We be needing plans for this part, same as the first. Later votes will mostly be free for all with the occasional plan, but for this particular character creation session we've got aesthetics to maintain damn it :V

I edited the post to reflect this.

No idea, but I figure it's only polite to ask when stealing ideas. :V

Thanks for the permission!

got it plan name edit on the way

Edit: in hindsight, @Krule since you seem to have voted for the same options as me, I figured it's a good idea to ping you to let you know I gave it a plan name.

Do you mind adjusting the font size of your vote to default? Right now it seems to be causing some wacky things to happen in the vote tally, which makes it a bit harder to tell what's being voted for. All that randomly-sized text, y'know, strains the eyes a bit.

EDIT: ty :)

[X] Plan Firebrand Pacification Style

Honestly torn between this and Warm Hands, White Coat for aesthetics more than anything else.

Tbh I wouldn't mind if that won over my plan (small shock considering it's identical in almost every way, including the ones that I most care about :V). My only hesitation with it is that bows are overdone and not particularly fitting for the surgeon. If we're going ranged, crossbows seem like a more interesting option, imo.

Fair enough, and I can't disagree with you on the bow. I was actually torn between bow and crossbow when I was picking things out.

You know what, screw it. Editing my plan.

Why? Medics with crossbows are overdone and they don't play as well with the firm hand of a medic.
Don't fall in that narrative trap.

What narrative trap? I can't for the life of me imagine how picking crossbows over bows could be a trap, let alone a narrative one. I also haven't seen many (any?) medics with crossbows, but bows with magical girls are definitely overdone, as are bows in general. Crossbows don't get that much love unless the character is a dwarf or a rogue, and even then they tend to share the spotlight.

The trap is not giving to the character who has other reasons to be good with them (high precision) something because someone who hasn't any reason to be good with them is overdone.
And we are partially a rogue, afterall.

Okay, leaving aside the fact that being good with bows doesn't mean we wouldn't be better with crossbows, or that these are magical summoned weapons and it's arguable whether we even have to worry about that-- we... aren't actually a doctor or a surgeon or anything. We're a 16-year-old magical girl whose transformed aesthetic may look like a doctor and who can probably heal pretty damn well through magic, but we're just a volunteer at a hospital. There's no reason to think we have particularly amazing hand-eye coordination.

Except archery and medicine have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Being good at one doesn't automatically make you good at the other. Not to mention we probably aren't doing actual surgery.

However, it also doesn't mean that we aren't, and just being a mender princess is a strike against that. The others archetype doesn't even have that.
Also, we have a roguish archetype, so we wouldn't go against the norm if we were to pick a crossbow, which is (at least from the counter argument of DeepWaters) one of the reasons behind the change with the bow.

Also, I think it is too early to say that we aren't going to do surgery, but this is another story.

So your argument now boils down to the assertion that the Mender princess might have a bonus to Dexterity while the other archetypes wouldn't? You can't argue that the crossbow is a narrative trap on reasoning that shaky.

As for my "counter argument"-- you've misinterpreted. What I was saying is that bows for magical girls are overdone and also overdone in general, while crossbows rarely get seen at all except with particular archetypes. They are not seen often enough with those archetypes to be cliche in their own right, in my opinion. Disliking the bow vote for being cliche and unfitting for the doctor aesthetic is a personal gripe, anyway. If Silently Watches agrees with my opinion enough to be swayed by it and change their plan, then I definitely appreciate it, but that particular point is not an argument to counter or be countered. It's personal preference. Some people just like bows with magical girls, and while I don't agree with them, I'm not going to tell them they're wrong for wanting to see that (because they aren't).
