[X] Anguis. Led by Foreteller Invi, the sorcerer-spymaster. The sacred texts named her she who watches the watchmen, the final mediator and authority behind the throne of the Unicorn. The mages of her Union use their mystic arts and more mundane training to range far and near, ears to the ground for information of all kinds. More than once the tide has turned against darkness thanks to a single whisper on the wind from a warrior of the Cobra. However, some whisper -where they hope she cannot hear- that the spymaster shows increasing favouritism. That rather than seek to level the playing field between her siblings-in-arms, she feeds all she learns to Foreteller Ira, and allows him to do with this ammunition what he wills.

Hm, joined Vulpes in my union x game so that's kinda influencing my vote towards that faction but I'm also torn between Ursus if only because he has a very cool technique(the slashing distance thingy between him and one of his targets that he used it on in the movie) and Anguis for the wizard-spy stuff.

This sounds like it'd fit well with our lack of will to fight, and might make a nice contrast with how our friends are most important when there's potential favoritism going on.

I wondered who those OCs were when I read the update, but uuuh... maybe I should actually play XChi, because I have no idea what's happening right now. :>

[x] Vulpes. Led by Foreteller Ava, the recruiter and teacher. The sacred texts did not bestow a discrete role upon her, and so she volunteered for the one role the others' did not cover. It is Foreteller Ava that selects children from the populace with the highest aptitude to be tested for the ability to summon and control a Keyblade, and veterans from the school of the Fox that aid her in preparing cadets for the day they will choose a Union and begin to put their skills into practice for real. Warriors from her Union often collaborate with others, but even so there are rumours. Whispers that Ava is not what she seems, grooming and manipulating the best and brightest of her students to join her Union, preparing for some scheme of dire implication.

Between this

You lack the will to fight.

and that

aggressively seeking and destroying creatures of darkness

I simple think that we would do very poorly within Ursus, which at least to me makes any arguments in it's favor meaningless

    [X] Leopardus. Led by Foreteller Gula, the reserved scholar. The sacred texts named him chief researcher and interpreter of the Books of Prophecy which each Foreteller bears, to sequester himself in the highest tower of the School of the Leopard to pore over its pages for days and days until some new insight into the future has been sifted from their lost teacher's will. Those in his Union live similarly insular lives, venturing forth chiefly to investigate whatever hidden location has been unearthed by the Foreteller's dedication or deliver him one of his increasingly strange requests. However, some say that these days the warriors of the Leopard carry out the will of Gula, not of prophecy. That the Foreteller has lost sight of the grand design the Master of Masters entrusted to them, and now schemes his own schemes.
    [X] Ursus.
    [X] Ursus. Led by Foreteller Aced, the indomitable general that shatters the enemies of light. The sacred texts named him Foreteller Ira's right-hand man, to advise him in matters of state and shield him from their enemies within and without. The warriors of his Union range further and wider than any other, aggressively seeking and destroying creatures of darkness wherever they may hide, annihilating the enemy in the field so that they may never draw close. However, some would say that the bear is little more than a brute, a blunt instrument incapable of reining in his brother's worst impulses while happily indulging in his own.

Fair enough, was just really fond of the technique the Ursus leader did so that's why I was leaning towards him in the first place. Still kinda torn between the other two unions I mentioned but think I'm going with Angrius.

Edit: On second thought, changing vote since Tenfoldshields compelled me enough to go to this one.

eyyyy whaddup it's ya boi Oh God What Am I Doing Here I Don't Know Any Of This Who Are You Can You Please Call My Parents I Want To Go Home.

nice 2 meet u 2

But yeah I think...okay I dunno dick about Kingdom Hearts and I'm well past the point of being able to casually absorb it but I do know dysfunctional dynamics in the narrative and the Unions are one fucked up pseudofamily. Foreteller Ira is the favored child and the first son, the golden boy who's stepping up now that the parents are gone; he implicitly treats his siblings as inferiors at best, worthy of contempt at worst. Foreteller Aced has gotten increasingly accustomed to viewing every problem as a nail in need of a hammer and has absolutely zero effective checks on him. Foreteller Invi is toxic and venomous, somewhat appropriately, and she stokes resentment and petty retribution between the members of her family rather than trying to heal the deep rifts between them. Foreteller Ava is the youngest, overlooked kid, saddled with the unglorious gruntwork that the others all disdain because if it was Truly That Important they'd be handling it right?

And, I mean idk if it's KH canon but their names are pretty big clues.

Ira = Wrath.
Aced = Sloth.
Invi = Envy.
Ava = Avarice.

But honestly out of all of them I'm really the most curious about Gula (Gluttony) and the Leopard. Weird fucking budding-Byrgenwerth scholars poking things they shouldn't, increasingly adrift from the rest of the command structure, turning weird and ingrown is 100% my jam and I like the conflict it prompts with us. We're all about our friends, our tight-knit surrogate family, we'd rather reach out and try to mend things rather than make what may be, at times, a necessary break. We build bridges, we don't burn them. But there's a dark side to that too you know? Especially when everyone you care about is slipping further and further into something detached, possibly dark, and probably messed up.

And I think that's super compelling.

Oh right I forgot how the Fortellers where all names after sins.... though thankfully they don't show then in the sterotypical ways, which is somewhat referesing considering how groups named after said sins tend to act.

I'd be a filthy liar if I said I don't know anything about Kingdom Hearts because you can't be on the internet without picking some stuff up by cultural osmosis, but I've never played any of the games. For the sake of the people who are clueless, then, and also to help Zerban calibrate the content of the infodumps, I'll compile what we know about what the hell is happening just from the content of Zerban's posts thus far.

We're having some kind of vision or dream. We don't seem to be much surprised by the trippy stuff that's happening, so we're either asleep and fully subject to the dream's logic or we were expecting something like this, suggesting that this may be a ritual or trial by vision-quest that we're voluntarily undergoing. Most of what we're seeing is stuff that has already happened, but some of it might be things that are yet to come. There's a lot of imagery that might be relevant later or might just be there for its own sake, because it's cool. The reoccurring motifs are falling through air and sinking through water (or perhaps it would be more accurate to characterize it as an absence of solid ground to stand upon?), still images and reflections (portrayal/perception of reality versus what is truly is?), and light/illumination within darkness (pretty straightforward).

We are a very junior member of an order of mystic warriors based out of the Citadel of Daybreak, wielding a weapon called a Keyblade. We, and many others besides, have been recruited and trained by this order in preparation for some prophesied future struggle. Judging by the intro blurb, it's not supposed to go well for us. Our order used to have a single head, the Master of Masters, but he's been gone for some time and now his personal students are running things as some sort of council. @TenfoldShields seems to have a pretty good read of them, though I'd quibble that Invi might not be actively sowing discord so much as failing to do her duty to quell it or preferentially supporting Ira instead of remaining neutral. If the vision in the first post and the rumors of tension between the factions of the Citadel are anything to go by, we can assume that the coming conflict will be fratricidal. It reads like there's a faction of Ira-Aced-Invi with Gula and Ava either conspiring together or each doing their own thing, but with Ira increasingly isolating himself expecting anything reliant on his leadership to hold together might be misguided.

Based on the summary of our character here
You are tenacious and kind.
You lack the will to fight.
You fear hurting a loved one.
You care for your friends above all else.
You wish to heal the pain of the past.

Your journey begins in the light of the dawn. The coming night seems naught but a distant fairytale.

This is the path you chose.
and the implication that we chose our Union rather than being assigned to it I'd say that it's very unlikely we joined Ursus or Anguis, and unlikely that we joined Leopardus. Unicornis and Vulpes both seem like decent fits. However, from a narrative standpoint the conflicts that could arise from us being in a Union we're ill-fit for are much more interesting than being comfortable where we are. As such I'm favoring

There's interesting tension between being conflict-averse and wanting to heal old wounds and being responsible for ferreting out and weaponizing other peoples' dark secrets.

[X] Leopardus.

In my ignorance, I put my trust in knowledge. In particular, my knowledge that if anybody knows screwed up societal/psychological dynamics, it's TenfoldShields.
