Exemplar: (MHA Teacher Quest)

Chargen Part Two (Hopefully the last chargen post)
[X] 1-B
[X] Female

---

The weeks leading up to the start of the school year are strenuous for you. You have to suppress a little yawn as you shuffle into the teacher's lounge. You're probably the first one here- That's good. It means you get to use the coffee machine. Sweet blessed caffeine. That's what you need right about now. Maybe you should invest in an apartment that's closer to U.A. Perhaps you should try talking to your boss about this.

Maybe you're taking all of this too seriously. You're the newest teacher at U.A. That might be why you've got so much trepidation about the coming school year. Nezu has you teaching heroics students of all things.

Class 1-B.

... You take a sip of coffee as you contemplate your current position. Well, now you know he was head-hunting you for a reason. A part of you is still kind of numb. The realization that holy shit you're teaching at U.A. hasn't really sunk in yet.

The rest of you wants to vomit.

Please, god, you pray you won't fuck things up-

"I am here, coming through the door, like a hero!"

A huge blond man barges in through the door. You look up with bleary eyes as the cup of coffee in your hands pauses before it touches your lips.

... Huh, that's All Might.

Wait, that's All Might.

"And I see that I'm not alone at this early hour!" The big man himself continues. He's probably more stacked than he is in photographs or news footage. Cripes, just looking at the man makes your biceps quiver, that's how well-defined his physique is. In his silver-age outfit, he looks like he's stepped right off of the panels of one of those western comic books.

Glowing blue eyes bore into yours as the man leans in. His grinning visage fills your vision.

Good god, he's tall.

Wait. Wait, wait. You shake your head, furiously thinking. Wait. Why is All Might here at U.A.?

"I don't think we've been introduced!" All Might booms, extending his hand. Right, so you can shake it. Which you do, after a little bit.

You're hoping the rest of the school year isn't this eventful. Good grief, All Might, here, shaking your hand.

"What's your name, young miss?"

... Good grief, you haven't even introduced yourself yet. You clear your throat, speak through dry lips.

"I'm..."

Alright let's try this again. I try not to repeat votes in my quests. This is kind of an exception because like, that last vote was a mess.

Chargen round two, electric boogaloo, in stores now.

Gender and class assignments are all locked in.

Gimme a name, hero name, general appearance and... Quirk. You know what? Why not.

What's your civilian name?
[][Name] Rei Watanabe
[][Name] Write-in.

What's your hero name?
[][Hero Name] Write-in.

General appearance?
[][Appearance] Write-in. (Feel free to include what your hero costume looks like.)

Finally, what quirk do you have? (Specific quirk rules will be posted after a quirk has been chosen.)
[][Quirk] Hyper-Deduction. Your brain is capable of extrapolating a ridiculous amount of information from the smallest amount of data. While you need to have some information about intended targets to begin with, your quirk fills in the gaps in your knowledge. This allows you to cold-read individuals around you, to make predictions about the most likely outcome of any situation, and to analyze crime scenes in literally the blink of an eye. Quirk overuse will lead to copious headaches and nosebleeds.

[][Quirk] Tranquility. An invisible aura extends around your body that automatically magnifies and reflects all harmful intent directed at the people within. At full strength, if you were attacked by a man wielding a knife, the instant that man steps within your sphere of influence he wouldn't be able to keep ahold of his weapon. Your aura's effectiveness is reduced by the number of individuals within your radius. You're incapable of turning your quirk off entirely- The most you can do is reduce the radius of your aura. The maximum radius of your aura is five meters. The minimum radius is one meter.

[][Quirk] Vorpal Sword. You're capable of generating a three-foot long laser-blades from either of your hands. The blades themselves are capable of cutting through most any substance. You can change the color of the blades and they will illuminate dark spaces. The blades will short out for a few minutes if they touch water. Usage of your quirk for an extended period of time will burn through calories like a motherfucker, which means you have to eat a lot more than the average person and you have to ration your quirk usage or you'll drop from fatigue.

[][Quirk] Write-in: PM me a 1500 to 2000 word essay detailing the quirk you want, the mechanics of that quirk in detail, why this quirk works within the context of this quest, and why I should deign to fiat it into the quest. That's literally the only way I'll even begin to consider a write-in.

Yeah, go nuts. I'm probably going to post the 1-B list at some point. I might be making some alterations from canon just for the hell of it.

Also because I'm not actually caught up on the manga yet.

[X][Quirk] Hyper-Deduction

I don't know about the rest of the questions, but the thought of all-might running around desperately trying to keep his secrets from us makes me smile.

Now this seems interesting...

[X] Alice Dodgson
-[X] The Nonsense Hero, Wonderland
-[X] Long blonde hair and blue eyes with fair white skin. You sometimes curse that you look like a stereotypical Alice, but it sure did make picking a theme easy.
-[X] Vorpal Sword

Wow the Hero is name is hard to pick. I tried got Snicker-snack, Vorpal, Jabberwocky...the name of every character from Alice in wonderland... but yeah, how's this?

I like it already, but boy I'd be 1000% down for this if the Vorpal Sword actually had a bunch of nonsensical properties, instead of just being temporary laser swords. Like imagine it looked like a normal sword in one of those warped mirrors, bending at odd angles and bulging in places. Still has awesome cutting power, also has a lot of weird other powers that don't really have anything to do with a sword, like if you put it on a fruit then it will turn a shade of purple depending on how ripe it is, plus several things with actual combat/rescuing/practical potential with sufficient creativity. Also has odd restrictions and will shift in powerset and appearance or suddenly retract under specific conditions. Alice struggled to understand everything that it did as a teenager, it's just that difficult to use when it's so unreliable, but eventually learned to lean all the way into the nonsense logic that governed it. Became part of her identity, as she took the mantle of The Nonsense Hero. Known for utter unpredictability, her wide array of powers, and her endearingly whimsical attitude at basically all times. Quite popular with young girls. She's pretty good at keeping up with the Vorpal Sword nowadays in how it shifts but it still likes to surprise her.

Gah, such a vivid image I just got. It looks like it won't be quite that but the idea is good enough to go with, the other two are iffy to me anyways.

Nothing hides from my gaze! I found appropriate adult(we aren't a kid obviously) Alice images. It was surprisingly difficult to find a SFW one. I had to do an alternate research where I looked for a character that looked like an adult Alice.

Goddamn I love this idea. Especially if she engages in inane banter and throws out Lewis Carroll quotes as often as possible.

Anything but "Lolita".

The only part I really care about. Not often we get to play with a thinker/mental/etc power, rather than offensive power #387 or whatever.

Don't forget "Off with their head!" if we get really mad. Though I suppose dressing as the Queen of Hearts would make people think we're more villainous that we really are. Could be that we'd prefer the Queen of Hearts theme for our hero costume but due to social pressure we couldn't get that approved and have to settle for merely being "Alice."

This is such a fun theme

I know I went for hyper-deduction (odds don't seem good for it, but oh well), but tranquillity is pretty interesting as well. You just erase hostility on those close to you? That's cool. We like force pacifism onto someone.

Actually... I'm not sure exactly how this works. Does it impose pacifism on the people within our radius, or does it protect them by reflecting attacks away from them?

If it imposes pacifism, I can see it being useful kind of like Eraser Head's or Stein's power. It disables or paralyzes our opponent so we can attack them with ninja skills. Problem is that if we can't control it we can become a liability to our fellow heroes if we get close to them. Also, I don't think our aura would protect against attacks from outside the radius.

If it's more of a reflection field... I can see that being pretty useful for protecting fellow heroes or innocent civilians. If there's a fire we could run inside, the flames get reflected away from us, we get close to the civilians and put them inside our field and then let them casually walk out. Could be pretty good for search and rescue. In combat, if we can't control it then I can see it getting confusing if we run into melee. Our enemy could end up being protected just as much as our allies. There's also the issue of the effectiveness being reduced by the number of individuals.

Though a more wacky version of this power would be something like the Justice Field from Red Dwarf:

Anyway, we should probably see exactly how this quirk works before voting on it. All in all, if any one of these interpretations are right, I think this would definitely be preferable to the info-gathering quirk. I mean... gathering intel is useful, but there's nothing stopping us from just playing an intelligent character who pays attention to stuff. Deku is pretty smart and pays attention to how other people's quirks work and that has nothing to do with him having One For All.
